A delay to this race meeting was required to allow the Wagga Harness Racing Club to conduct remedial works on the track as a result of rainfall overnight and during the day. The following time amendments were made as a result:

RACE 1 – YIRRIBEE PACING STUD PACE – 1740 metres

SUGAR COAT ME NZ – Commenced to give ground passing the 500 metres to be beaten 29.3 metres and finished in last position. Driver J Locke explained he was disappointed in the overall performance of the gelding when failing to run on and noted the gelding did not appear to race truly once receiving cover.

COOGEE – Pre-race blood sample. Hampered between the 500 metres and 400 metres when trailing the weakening SUGAR COAT ME NZ.

MARLO MAREAU – Caught racing three wide in the early stages until obtaining the position outside the leader passing the 1250 metres improving forward to the lead passing the 1200 metres.

PUKUNUI BEACH – Post-race swab sample.

CAPTAIN DEEJAY – Checked behind the weakening SUGAR COAT ME NZ between the 500 metres and 300 metres.

 

RACE 2 – TAB REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS – RIVERINA HEAT 1 – 2270 metres

CARMEN ON BLING – Hampered approaching the 400 metres when the pace on the peg line eased and as a result CARMEN ON BLING improved over the back of UNCHAINMYART momentarily.

UNCHAINMYART – Hampered approaching the 400 metres when the pace on the marker pegs eased and as a result UNCHAINMYART improved over the back of DOVE LAKE momentarily.

DOVE LAKE – Improved forward to obtain the lead passing the 1900 metres.

UNCLE JAY – A pre and post-race veterinary examination was conducted due to the gelding having competed in excess of 200 race starts. No obvious abnormalities were detected on either examination. Caught racing three wide in the early stages until obtaining the position outside the leader passing the 1800 metres.

DORRISTOPAYTHEBILL – Caught racing three wide in the early stages until being restrained to the tail of the field passing the 1700 metres. Gave ground over the concluding stages to be beaten 43 metres and finished in 11th position.

TUKAHA – Hampered passing the 400 metres when SHES A WARRAWEE was shifted up the track towards its inside resulting in that runner being steadied wider on the track. Hung in throughout the event. Driver D Cernovskis dropped his left foot from the sulky rest whilst activating approved gear passing the 300 metres. Driver D Cernovskis was issued a reprimand under Rule 163(1)(a)(iii) for causing interference in that shortly after entering the home straight on the final occasion he has made insufficient effort to prevent TUKAHA from shifting down the track and as a result SHES A WARRAWEE was tightened for racing room for a short distance and was required to be checked.

SHES A WARRAWEE – Improved three wide from the 1700 metres until obtaining the position outside the leader passing the 1500 metres. Driver J Locke was issued a reprimand under Rule 163(1)(a)(iii) for causing interference in that approaching the 400 metres he has allowed SHES A WARRAWEE to shift up the track and as a result raced inside the line of TUKAHA causing that runner to be hampered for a short distance. Checked shortly after entering the home straight when racing in restricted room to the inside of TUKAHA.

CAPTAIN RIVAL – Pre-race blood sample. Driver J Painting was fined $50 under Rule 162(1)(j) for failing to maintain his position behind the mobile barrier until the starting point. Improved 3 wide from the 1700 metres until obtaining the position outside the leader passing the 1250 metres.

OUR ROCKY – Failed to run on over the concluding stages to be beaten 48.4 metres and finished in last position.

CORTEZ – Caught racing 3 wide in the early stages until working forward to obtain the lead passing the 1650 metres. Post-race swab sample.

ROYAL EXIT – Hampered passing the 400 metres when the pace on the marker pegs eased and as a result improved over the back of CARMEN ON BLING for a short distance. Failed to run on over the concluding stages to beaten 36.2 metres and finished in 10th position.

 

RACE 3 – TAB REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS – RIVERINA HEAT 2 – 2270 metres

WAVES OF CHANCE – Post-race swab sample.

AROMET GIRL – Broke in the early stage of the score up for which a warning was issued.

TROUVILLE – A pre and post-race veterinary examination was conducted due to the gelding having not competed in the previous 12 months. No obvious abnormalities were detected on either examination. Caught racing three wide in the early stages until working forward to obtain the position outside the leader passing the 1800 metres.

SAVEEON – Over raced throughout the event.

NEEDBEE – Caught racing three wide in the early stag until being restrained to the tail of the field passing the 1300 metres.

THALASSAPHOBIA – Pre-race blood sample.

DONNIE MAC – Stewards questioned Driver D Cernovskis in relation to the below market expectation ($9.50) performance of the gelding when failing to run on over the concluding stages to be beaten 44.1 metres. Mr Cernovskis explained that the gelding travelled well throughout the event however was disappointed in the way the gelding found the line and could offer no further explanation into the performance. Mr Cernovskis added connections will assess how the gelding recovers from the event and may have the stable veterinarian examine the gelding. Stewards advised connections to contact the Stewards with any findings from any subsequent veterinary examination.

RACE 4 – TAB REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS – RIVERINA HEAT 3 – 2270 metres

HES A TERROR – Pre and post-race veterinary examination was conducted due to the gelding having competed in excess of 200 race starts. No obvious abnormalities were detected on either examination.

SIGNIFICANT LAZ – Gave ground over the concluding stages to be beaten 63.2 metres and finished in 11th position.

LA CAVALLETTA – Post-race swab sample.

BULLETIN – Failed to run on over the concluding stages to be beaten 65.2 metres and finished in last position.

KIMCANDO – Raced three wide in the early stages until working forward to obtain the position outside the leader passing the 1600 metres.

SEASIDE DELIGHT – Worked forward to obtain the lead passing the 1900 metres.

VIN NUMBER – Pre-race blood sample.

MESSERATI – Pre-race blood sample. Raced three wide in the early stages until obtaining the position outside the leader passing the 1300 metres.

ARTEMIS MISSION – Failed to run on over the concluding stages to be beaten 47.1 metres and finished in 10th position.

LOTUSBIRD – Trainer J Painting was fined $50 under Rule 210 for failing to declare B Jones as the driver by the prescribed time.

 

RACE 5 – SUCCESS STUD PACE – 1740 metres

NAPOLI NIGHTS – Pre-race blood sample.

SPREAD THE FEAR – Worked forward to obtain the lead passing the 1250 metres.

CRIMSON ROCK NZ – Post-race swab sample.

GLAMORS SYMBOL - Pre and post-race veterinary examination was conducted due to the mare having competed in excess of 200 race starts. No obvious abnormalities were detected on either examination.

BLUES TERROR - Pre and post-race veterinary examination was conducted due to the gelding having competed in excess of 200 race starts. No obvious abnormalities were detected on either examination.

MOST CERTAIN MICKY – Caught racing three wide in the early stages until being restrained to the tail of the field passing the 1300 metres. Driver N Horan was issued a reprimand under Rule 168(1)(a) for careless driving in that approaching the 200 metres he has allowed his runner to improve forward in between the weakening TIGER CHEDDAR and NO MORE PROMISES resulting in his runner pacing in restricted room and pacing roughly for a short distance.

TIGER CHEDDAR – Failed to run on over the concluding stages to be beaten 32.6 metres and finished in last position. Driver B Jones could not offer any explanation into the gelding’s disappointing performance however noted the connections indicated they may give the gelding a freshen up.

 

RACE 6 – TASCO PETROLEUM 2YO PACE – 1740 metres

IM NO TROUBLE – Over raced throughout the event. Post-race swab sample.

IDEAL LILLY – Pre-race blood sample.

KENO ROSIE – Worked forward to obtain the lead passing the 1200 metres.

WICKED DE LIL – Out of position at the start for which the filly was issued its last chance in the mobile draw.

WILLIAM HAITCH – Became unbalanced and galloped shortly after the start for which the gelding will now be excluded from the mobile barrier draw.

BETTOR GROOVE – Failed to run on over the final 400 metres to be beaten 177 metres and finished in 10th position. Driver J Painting reported to Stewards it was his belief the filly had flipped its palate. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities other than a slow post-race recovery. Driver J Painting he would look to reassess the filly’s racing future within his stable. In view of the filly’s performance, BETTOR GROOVE was stood down until it completes one requalifying trial.

 

RACE 7 – NORTH SHORE CAFÉ PACE – 1740 metres

THROWDOWN HOEDOWN – Failed to run on over the concluding stages to be beaten 71.7 metres for which a warning was issued. In not taking more severe action Stewards were mindful of the fast overall 1:55.3 mile rate.

IMA BOXA – Pre-race blood sample. Worked forward to obtain the lead passing the 1400 metres. Post-race swab sample.

YANKEE BABE – Caught racing three wide in the early stages until obtaining the position outside the leader passing the 1300 metres. 

LIZZYS STAR – Out of position at the start for which the filly will be continued out of the mobile barrier draw. Failed to run on over the concluding stages to be beaten 71.6 metres for which a warning was issued.

KYLEIGH – Hung out throughout the event. Failed to run on over the concluding stages to be beaten 83.7 metres and finished in last position which a warning was issued.

 

RACE 8 – HERTZ PACE – 1740 metres

ALISKI – Became unbalanced and galloped during the score up for which a warning was issued. Raced 3 wide in the early stages until working forward to obtain the position outside the leader passing the 1300 metres. Post-race swab sample.

REASON TO LAUGH – Pre-race blood sample. Improved three wide from the 1250 metres until obtaining the position outside the leader passing the 1000 metres.

CALL ME DRAGON – Unable to secure clear running in the early stages of the home straight until obtaining a run in the sprint lane.
