Withstood a protest lodged by the 4th place runner COME ON SHANNON.

COME ON SHANNON – Pre-race blood sample. At all clear, Driver Justin Reynolds indicated his intention to view the footage of the concluding stages. After viewing the footage, Mr Reynolds exercised his right to lodge a protest against 3rd place runner A TRUE BELIEVER alleging interference from the 300 metres until the winning post. After considering the footage and evidence provided by both drivers, Stewards were of the opinion although A TRUE BELIEVER had shifted up the track at the 300 metres and again in the home straight, couldn’t be comfortably satisfied the interference caused to COME ON SHANNON was enough to overturn the result and as such dismissed the protest.

GIFTED BRIGADE NZ – All clear was delayed in the event as Driver Will Rixon lodged a protest against the 1st placed runner MCSIREN. After taking evidence from Will Rixon, Driver of GIFTED BRIGADE NZ and Jason Hewitt driver of MCSIREN, Stewards were of the view at a point approaching the 75 metres GIFTED BRIGADE NZ had established a run to the inside of MCSIREN at which point MCSIREN was permitted to shift down the track tightening GIFTED BRIGADE NZ and locking wheels momentarily. Given the official margin of a head, Stewards were satisfied that had the interference not occurred to GIFTED BRIGADE NZ that runner would have finished in advance of MCSIREN and as a result the protest was upheld. All clear was given on the number 4-9-1-2. Post-race swab sample.

MCSIREN – Lost 1st on protest as it was established approaching the 75 metres MCSIREN was permitted to shift down the track causing GIFTED BRIGADE NZ to be checked and lock wheels. Driver Jason Hewitt pleaded guilty to a charge under Rule 162(1)(www)(i) for impeding another runner in that, approaching the 75 metres Mr Hewitt has permitted MCSIREN to shift down the track locking wheels and checking GIFTED BRIGADE NZ impeding that runner from improving forward. Driver Jason Hewitt had his licence to drive in races suspended for a period of 7 days to commence midnight 14 November 2025. In assessing penalty Stewards considered Mr Hewitts plea, record in relation to the rule and the circumstances of this incident. Post-race swab sample
