Racing and Sports Menangle Mail - July 13

12 July 2024

Multiple Group 1 winner Max Delight gets his chance to return to the winners’ list when he finds a suitable assignment at Menangle on Saturday night.

The meeting also sees some promising youngsters head to the city for the NSW Bred Finals for two and three year-olds.

Race 1: ALLIED EXPRESS SPECIALISED LOGISTICS PACE
ARDENS ACE (8) wasn't too far away in a tougher race last week and had put together a series of placings at this circuit before that. Came from a similar barrier when edged out by a nose last month. This suits. THE CROUPIER (10) has taken on much stronger company in his two outings since a spell and will be better for those hitouts. He draws wide but can show his best in this more suitable grade. BOOM (9) has been freshened since he was outclassed in a tougher field last start but has trialled. Draws out but has claims off a win here two back. UNFAZED (7) drew deepest and raced wide when resuming so wasn't disgraced in finishing midfield. Has won a trial since so should have come on.

Race 2: BESTINBEDS.COM.AU PACE
KING TIGER (3) is back after a spell of five months but was readied with a trial win and is a strong fresh performer, striking at 50 per cent. Produced some good efforts in stronger company when last in work and is aided by a low draw. CHASE THE STARS (7) is making good progress and is yet to miss the top-two in five Australian starts, last week digging deep to score by a head at this circuit. Draws wider but stays in the same grade and has upside. MY ULTIMATE CARTER (9) missed narrowly fresh then atoned with a 2m win here last time. Draws deeper but has won two of three third-up attempts so can progress further. HEZ DUSTY (1) has been racing consistently and is drawn to enjoy the favours.

Race 3: CLUB MENANGLE VIC FROST FFA
MAX DELIGHT (9) - pictured - was brave in defeat here last week where he cast a plate and raced three wide but dug deep for a 1.2m second. Draws the same wide gate again but this looks a little easier so he is a big chance to go one better. WHEREYABINBOPPIN (10) has been freshened since chasing topliner Swayzee for second at this venue five weeks ago. Overcame a similar draw to this when winning here earlier in his campaign. Strong claims with his A-game. STAR MAJOR (1) has come from wider draws and raced parked in his last two outings here, scoring two back before boxing on well to finish just a metre behind Max Delight last week. Player from the ace draw. JAY OK (3) has been racing well from wide or second row barriers so can be competitive from this draw.

Race 4: CANNIBAL STANDING AT COBBITTY EQUINE FARM LADYSHIP PACE
MORE GOODA (7) continues to race well and has added to a string of top-three finishes by placing in her last three outings at this circuit. Missed by a nose in this grade two back then chased the good filly Millwood Bliss for a 1.9m second last start. Draws wider but is well placed in this line-up. DIEING ART (8) placed at this venue two back then overcame an early break and a wide passage to score last time at Penrith. Has had nearly two months off since but was kept up to the mark with a trial. PAS DE CHEVAL (10) had to work so was far from disgraced last start and was racing consistently before that. Draws deep but scored back-to-back wins here earlier in the campaign so her best form measures right up. SWEET COCO (5) steps up in grade but a last-start placing suggested she is finding form.

Race 5: CLUB MENANGLE WARATAH FINAL
PETER FORSBERG (2) is a progressive gelding who has yet to miss a place in five starts since crossing from NZ, winning three of them. Pushed forward from a wider draw to lead when scoring by 1.2m at Newcastle last time out, taking his strike rate at this distance to 50 per cent. Can take advantage of the low draw. Top chance. CONOR MCGREGOR (1) drew widest here last start so it may pay to forgive that result. Had recorded a series of top-two finishes before that, chasing Peter Forsberg two back and winning his previous outing at Newcastle. He is much better served by the ace draw. MISTER BLUECHIP (9) has won a trial since disappointing last time and the prior form was promising. Draws deep but possesses early speed. HELLO I TEA (5) deserves respect having beaten Mister Bluechip three back.

Race 6: HRNSW 3YO NSW BRED FINAL
OUR GOAT (10) has returned in terrific order, winning by big margins in both starts since a spell. Draws wider but has shown good gate speed to lead in both of those victories so has the pace to get across. Big chance to land the hat trick. HUMBLE (12) also draws out and has ground to make up on Our Goat through their clash two back when he was second as a hot favourite but he did draw the back line there and was forced to work. Won from a wide gate at Wagga since so could turn the tables. OUR ULTIMATE LUKA (3) has been consistent with a string of placings since her fourth in the G1 NSW Oaks. Beaten into second as a hot favourite in her last two but gets every chance from this draw. DOLCE DRAMA (6) did a good job to beat Our Ultimate Luka in her resuming win. Races well here and has upside.

Race 7: HRNSW 2YO NSW BRED FINAL
SANCHEZ (10) is a lightly-raced and progressive colt who draws wide but won from a similar draw when resuming, pushing forward to find the front before going on to score by 1.8m at Wagga. Has plenty of upside so can go on with the job. MISS RAVISHING (2) started a hot favourite when resuming at Penrith and was too good, scoring by 2.2m. That was just her second start so she has upside and is aided by the low draw. DOLLY ROCKET (7) is really delivering now having won her last two outings at Bathurst. That form is worthy of respect. OUR TRIPLE MAJOR (5) has been runner up in both starts to date, last time getting within 1.8m of Sanchez. Could feature from this draw.

Race 8: CORDINA CHICKEN FARMS TROTTERS MOBILE
TORO STRIDE (6) has relished the return to mobile starts in his last two outings, coming from a wider barrier for an easy G3 win over this distance then stepping up in trip to place behind a handy rival last start. The return to the mile can see him bounce back into the winners' list. CALIGULA (9) blew his chances by galloping out last time but was impressive in a 32m romp at this circuit and distance two back. Strong claims with better manners. VICTREE HILL (8) was well fancied last week but galloped after the standing start. Had recorded a string of placings before that so is worthy of another chance. HEZA PLEASURE (3) returns from a stint in Brisbane where she was fourth in a G2 last start. Had been racing consistently at this venue before that and draws well.

BEST BETS:
Race 4 #7 More Gooda – Racing consistently and chased a smart one last start. Can atone.
Race 7 #10 Sanchez– Promising juvenile who can back up the fresh win.
