Chief Executive - Peter Buckman
Division Responsibilities
The Chief Executive reports to a five-person Board and is responsible for the day-to-day management of Harness Racing NSW in accordance with the Harness Racing Act 2009.
In summary these functions include the control, supervision and regulation of harness racing in NSW; the registration of clubs, horses, owners, trainers, drivers, bookmakers and any other persons associated with harness racing; the initiation, development and implementation conducive to strategic development; the distribution of monies received as a result of commercial arrangements including the Totalizator Act 1997; and the allocation of race dates.
The Chief Executive is also responsible for the preparation and implementation of the Strategic Plan including formal consultation with the Harness Racing Industry Consultation Group (HRICG) and other stakeholders in addition to maintaining and fostering key external relationships.
Chief Operating Officer - Peter Carney
Division Responsibilities
The Chief Operating Officer is a senior executive position responsible for overseeing and managing the day-to-day operations of Harness Racing NSW.
This includes playing a crucial role in ensuring Harness Racing NSW’s business operations are efficient, effective, and aligned with the organisation’s strategic goals.
The COO collaborates closely with other executives and department heads to develop and implement operational strategies, policies, and procedures to drive extensive and sustainable growth.
Chief Financial Officer - Samantha Malone
Division Responsibilities
The Division is responsible for the administration of funding arrangements with Tabcorp and wagering operators, payment of funds to clubs and the management of the Industry Racecourse Development and Benevolent Funds which are administered on behalf of the industry by Harness Racing NSW.
In addition, the Division manages the Centralised Stakes Payment System through which prizemoney and other payments are made to participants on behalf of all clubs.
Administration of other finance-related functions such as the collection of fines, licensing and registrations revenue, and management of the Unpaid Forfeits List is also undertaken by the Commercial Services Division. Information technology services, which are outsourced, and administration of industry leases, insurance and commercial agreements/operations and HR administration are other responsibilities falling into the remit of the Division.
Chief Integrity Officer - Michael Prentice
Division Responsibilities
The Chief Integrity Officer is a senior executive of Harness Racing NSW responsible for ensuring the integrity and fairness of the industry across the state.
The CIO plays a crucial role by overseeing and enforcing rules, regulations, ethical standards, drug testing and procedures, inquiries, investigations, licencing and registration, upholding the integrity and fairness of the sport, ensuring that all participants compete on a level playing field.
Chairman of Stewards - Clint Bentley
Division Responsibilities
The Chairman of Stewards is part of the senior executive team at Harness Racing NSW responsible for overseeing and maintaining the integrity and fairness of the sport.
This role is crucial in ensuring that all participants adhere to the rules and regulations set forth by the governing body.
Primary responsibilities include enforcing rules, overseeing race day operations, inquires and investigations as well as equine and participant welfare.
