Racing and Sports Menangle Mail - November 2
1 November 2024
The clash of last-start Group 1 winners and Inter Dominion Trotting Championship hopefuls London To A Brick (pictured) and The Locomotive is one of the highlights of the Menangle meeting on Saturday night.
Consistent pacers Whereyabinboppin and Ludacrous will also get their chance to land well-deserved wins when they find suitable assignments.
Race 1: THE CORDINA GROUP PACE
WHEREYABINBOPPIN (5) has been racing consistently at this circuit, putting three placings together before leading from a similar barrier and sticking on for fourth at Listed level last time. Has the gate speed to find the front and this looks his chance to break through. MAGICIAN (9) hasn't raced since a fourth here in August and had strong Tasmanian form before that, winning six of his previous seven starts there. Draws wide but has yet to miss a place when fresh and should be ready to go off a trial win. LINE UP (1) will relish the inside barrier having come from wider to produce solid efforts in his last two outings. Hasn't raced for five weeks but has been kept up to the mark with three nice trials. MACH DA VINCI (7) has claims off a 1.8m third from this same barrier two back.
Race 2: BESTINBEDS.COM.AU PACE
ANYTHING GOES (1) disappointed when well fancied last start but was good when runner-up at Listed level in his second local outing two back. The winner of that race Captains Knock has franked the form with two big wins since. Drops in grade and gets the ace draw so prepared to give him another chance. I BREAK THE LINE (2) drew wide in a Breeders Challenge heat last start but had recorded a series of close-up efforts before that. The low draw gives him every chance to produce his best. JILLIBY NITRO (7) has been tackling some good company of late so will enjoy a class drop and is a player off a close second in a higher-graded race here four back. OOGA CHAKA (4) must be respected having followed a fresh win here with a solid fourth in this grade last time.
Race 3: SUCCESS STUD - SPELLING HORSE SERVICES PACE
Looks a nice race for SPECULATING (2) who won here four back and looks close to another success after placing in his last two outings in this grade. Should enjoy the favours from the low draw so has strong claims. Forgive the last outing of OUR UNCLE JIM (1) when he raced up to four wide. Wasn't too far away at the previous outing and had put together a string of wins before that. Can show his best aided by the inside draw. FOXY DADA (8) has had to race up to four wide in his last two outings so the efforts have had merit. Draws wide again but he is better placed dropping in grade. IDEAL MARQUESS (3) draws much better than last start and has claims off a placing here two back.
Race 4: CANNIBAL STANDING AT COBBITTY EQUINE FARM TROTTERS MOBILE
LONDON TO A BRICK (9) resumes off a highly successful Brisbane carnival where he placed in his three starts in Group races, last seen when a fighting winner of the G1 Queensland Cup. Headed north off three successive wins at this circuit and has been readied for his return with a trial win. Classy trotter who will take beating. THE LOCOMOTIVE (7) returns to the Hewitt camp having won the Group 1 Vicbred Super Series 4EC Final at Melton when last seen. Has had seven weeks off but has been kept up to the mark with an easy trial win and is three from three at this circuit and distance. Big danger. TORO STRIDE (6) comes off a second at Listed level last week, giving him a win and three placings from his last five outings here. Must respect that consistency. FUNKY MONKEY (8) led and faded when midfield in a Listed race last week but had placed in her other four starts this time in so is worth another chance.
Race 5: CLUB MENANGLE ROD AND FRAN FITZPATRICK TATLOW STAKES (LISTED CLASSIC)
SWEET ON LEXY (6) is smart youngster but had little go his way from wide barriers in the last two rounds of the Breeder Challenge series. Impressive 12m winner in a heat of that series three back at Bathurst when off the back line. Gets his chance to deliver tonight. HEEZA MALTEEZA (7) broke in last week's Breeders Challenge final but was good in the previous two rounds at this venue, winning a heat and finishing second from this barrier in a semi-final. Draws outside Sweet On Lexy but is a danger. FASTING (2) steps up in grade on the last-start win but draws well and has some upside. GO WITHOUT (3) draws lower than in his resuming third so can improve.
Race 6: PRYDE'S STAMINA PACE
Former Kiwi JORDY (9) looks ready to win at his fourth local start. Has improved with each appearance and made it back-to-back placings when he came from this same draw to miss by just a nose last week. Race fit and finds the right race so can strike tonight. ARGENT PEAK (8) recorded back-to-back placings before overcoming the widest barrier for a breakthrough win at this venue last time. Rises in grade but is in form so could step up. STIR ME UP (4) has been very consistent, recording his sixth placing from his last seven starts at this circuit when beaten less than 2m after racing wide last time. CAPTAIN RITCHIE (1) can be competitive from the inside draw.
Race 7: AINSWORTH A-STAR LADYSHIP PACE
LUDACROUS (9) is a highly consistent mare who desperately deserves another win after pushing Group 1 winner Eye Keep Smiling in her last two outings, missing by just a nose in last week's G3 Breeders Challenge 4M Final. That was her seventh successive placing, a streak that includes a Group 1 second in Victoria. Draws wide but will enjoy the class drop so gets her chance. SWEET AGENDA (4) looks close to another win after placing in her last three outings, last time racing parked from this barrier for a 4.3m second against the boys. Big chance back against her own sex. PROMISELAND (8) has finished behind Ludacrous when coming from this same barrier to place in her last two outings in Breeders Challenge races. Should make an impact again. HEAVENLY CHARM (7) can do better back against the girls.
Race 8: ALLCOTT HIRE ALL AREAS PACE
KUZMA (8) has been close to the placegetters without a lot of luck in his last two outings at this circuit, racing three wide when fourth two back before he was hampered by a flat tyre when beaten 5m in this grade last week. Draws wide but this is suitable so can win with even luck. PORT AU PRINCE (4) backs up off a good showing here on Tuesday where he came from a wider barrier for a 3.7m fourth. He can make an impact from this draw. CORBIE STUMBLER (6) had a tough draw last time but had finished top-four in his other three starts this time in. Race fit and has claims. HY VOLTAGE (1) has been struggling but it wouldn't surplice to see improvement from the inside barrier.
BEST BETS:
Race 1 #5 Whereyabinboppin – Has been thereabouts of late and finds the right race.
Race 6 #9 Jordy – Missed narrowly from this barrier last start and can atone.
