WITH four of the six legs that make up this season’s Carnival Of Cups bonus now completed, trainers and owners are eyeing off this Friday night’s $30,000 Schweppes Cup at Bankstown and the Bulli Cup at Tabcorp Park Menangle on April 30.
Horses must compete in at least four of the six races to be eligible for the cash prize of $15,000 with points awarded for finishing position. Owners can score bonus points for attending the respective meetings. The remaining $5,000 will be won by an owner after the Bulli Cup is run. An owner will receive one entry in the draw for each of the meetings they attended across the six feature Carnival Of Cups events.
Three horses have competed in three legs to date – Spare Me Days, Condagen and Yayas Hot Spot while Pachacuti, Beetson, Lochinver, So Kool Harry, The Dip and My General Lee will have to compete in the remaining two events to qualify for the $15,000 bonus.
After last Thursday’s Renshaw Cup at Penrith was won by the Shane Tritton trained Yayas Hot Spot the disclosed pointscore looks like this –
-
Spare Me Days 34
-
Condagen 29
-
Yayas Hot Spot 28
-
Pachacuti 17
-
Beetson 16
The owner’s bonus points have been sealed and will not be disclosed until after the Bulli Cup has been run.
HRNSW Chief Executive John Dumesny would like to see the Carnival Of Cups bonus extended to include more races next season.
“The longer term goal is to increase the number of Cups included in the series to eight in 2017 and ten in 2018 as individual Clubs increase the prize money value for their feature open class race.”
