NEW South Wales Minister for Racing Paul Toole today announced the appointment of Mr Ken Brown AM as the new Board Member for Harness Racing NSW.
Mr Brown has intimate knowledge of the racing industry having been involved in all three codes through his various capacities but most particularly as the Director General NSW Department of Gaming and Racing from 1995 to 2006.
Mr Brown more recently has served as a Board Member of Racing NSW and as a member of the NSW Independent Liquor and Gaming Authority.
“Ken brings a wealth of knowledge to our Board which will strengthen what is already an extremely well balanced group,” HRNSW Chairman Graham Kelly said
“To complement those attributes is Ken’s keen interest in harness racing having been an owner and breeder as well as a keen enthusiast.
“An important object of the Board is to have an inclusive organization and Ken’s clear understanding of government and governance will assist no end as we create the pathways for the future of this great sport and pastime.”
Mr Brown is looking forward to his new appointment.
“It is a true honour to be appointed to the Board of HRNSW, for which I thank Minister Toole” Mr Brown said.
“My appreciation extends to the incumbent Board who nominated me for the position and I assure industry stakeholders that I will work with my fellow Board Members and the Executive Management of HRNSW in the best interests of the harness racing industry in NSW.
“I have had a close association with all sectors of the harness racing fraternity throughout my career and enjoyed some wonderful experiences at countless race tracks around the State.
“I am here now to offer my full commitment to the bright future of this sport as a member of the administration at Harness Racing NSW.”
Mr Brown’s first active role as a Board Member will be today when he joins his fellow Board Members in Wagga Wagga for the Riverina Region Clubs Meetings which will be followed by the Stakeholders Information Sessions.
