First String makes a race return

GROUP 1 winning pacer First String will make a return to racing at Penrith tonight.

The Belinda McCarthy-trained pacer has not raced since September last year.

Following three recent trials, the two-time Qbred Triad winner will be driven by the state’s leading reinsman, Luke McCarthy.

He drove First String in both of those feature victories and is fresh from driving a double at Menangle on Tuesday.

Luke McCarthy now sits at the top of the New South Wales Drivers’ Premiership having steered 47 winners in his home state so far this season.

Fellow reinsman Jack Trainor was equal to McCarthy prior to him driving those two winners.
