Fishers Ghost Day

28 October 2014

Sunday saw invited mini trotters from all over the state come together for an enjoyable day at TAB Corp Park Menangle Fishers Ghost meeting. Interest from our pat a pony at HRNSW Industry Day recently has seen a number of new interested participants attend Training and Education Days and through attending the events three new members Ashlee Wilden, Olivia Vujkovic and Sarah Walsh having their first registered drives.

The day got under way with Honeycombe driven by Mini Division Inter Dominion winning driver Caitlyn McElhinney taking the rein for an all the way win. Ashleighs Honey driver Noah Mordue made a late charge but the winning break was too hard to run down. My Pocket Rocket held on well for third.

Ashlee Wilden stepped out on HRNSW pony Little Squirt and after a tussle for the lead made every post a winner for a first up win. Hunter Valley trained and driven Crystal Ball ran home well to run second with Zena Zara running an honest race for Corey Hancock to finish third.

First Fishers Ghost final was a keenly contested event with no less than 6 winning chances with 50 metres to go but urged to the line Smokey Bear with Sarah Walsh was given the judges nod in a close finish from Ashleighs Honey (Noah Mordue) and Crystal Ball running its usual honest race for Aleisha Bond.

Second Fishers Ghost event resulted in a double for HRNSW pony Little Squirt hanging on for an excited Olivia Vujkovic having her first drive from a fast finishing Little Miss Lily with Shoalhaven driver Jye Howard Coney and Riverina Dazzler making good ground late for our New Zealand representative Molly Turton.

It was a great achievement for all that managed to qualify their horses for the day and full credit for all your efforts. Special thanks to Beau Wilson, Aleisha Bond and Cameron McDeed for qualifying and assisting in training of HRNSW horses.

HRNSW supported Education and Training Programme has helped many new participants into mini trots with supplying horses and equipment in a hands-on series of days to assist development of mini trots.
