Winnell aiming for the top with The Dancer

With a great start to the season thanks to his pacer The Dancer likeable horseman Kelvin Winnell is aiming for Group 1 glory.

Winnell has The Dancer engaged in one of tonight’s Regional Championship heats at Bathurst.

With a ticket to a $100,000 Group 1 final on the line, Winnell will be hoping The Dancer can bounce back into winning form.

The gelding has already won three races this year, all at the Bathurst track.

For success, Winnell will have to fight off some of the big names in the region including the likes of trainers Bernie Hewitt and Steve Turnbull.

Hewitt has Dukkah and Infinity Beach in Winnell’s heat and has seven horses across the three heats tonight.

Meanwhile, Turnbull has five horses aimed at the heats including the two leading chances in the first heat with Cassius Deck and Mach Daddy.
