Carnival of Cups returns across New South Wales
15 September 2022
The hugely popular TAB Carnival of Cups program returns this Sunday with a fresh new look to kick-start a series of 25 race meetings throughout New South Wales.
The schedule begins in Cowra with an eight race card, highlighted by the time-honoured Cowra Tri Tech Cup to close out a big day on and off the track.
The Cowra club will launch the series before it moves to Eugowra in a fortnight and heads into the Western and Riverina regions, heading north into the Hunter and closing with the annual running of the Treuer Memorial at Bankstown Paceway in June next year.
It will showcase the new look for the refreshed Carnival of Cups series, with HRNSW inviting all communities to come together for a day or night of fun and entertainment, with the added bonus of some elite racing on the track.
“What we have done is spent the past few months getting around the state and liaising with our clubs to work with them to really try and value add to the Carnival of Cups experience,” HRNSW Chief Executive John Dumesny said.
“You could say we are working with the clubs to make sure we are putting the Carnival back into the Carnival of Cups.”
“Our clubs do a fantastic job in putting on not just a race meet experience but a community event for everyone of all ages.
“Some of these communities haven’t been able to host a Carnival of Cups meeting for the past couple of years due to the COVID-19 health pandemic but the good news is now we’re back and it’s going to be a fantastic opportunity for communities to come together as one once again at a great event. And that is very exciting for everyone involved.”
The 2022/23 series will be complemented by a branding overhaul, with a new logo and an edgy design which will feature across a range of signage, merchandise and memorabilia.
Venues will be dressed in an array of colourful flags to bring a festival feel to the occasion. At all venues patrons will have access to plenty of food and drink options, musical entertainment and fun rides and activities for the kids.
“The Carnival of Cups program is one of the real highlights on the racing schedule and a wonderful celebration and exhibition of regional racing,” Mr Dumesny said.
“I’m looking forward to seeing good crowds and great racing on our tracks right across New South Wales.”
