TAB Carnival of Cups in full swing

9 December 2022

Harness racing goes into overdrive across New South Wales this month with key TAB Carnival of Cups meetings across the summer holidays.

With feature meetings aplenty, the next stop for the Carnival of Cups is at Dubbo on December 16 with the highlight being the $30,600 Red Ochre Fillies and Mares Classic.
Another drawcard of this meeting is the Western Jewel TAB Eureka Slot Holder competition.
Prolific owners Wayne and Julie Loader (pictured) are slot holders of harness racing’s richest race, the $2.1million TAB Eureka, and are giving away a two per cent share of the prizemoney paid to the Western Jewel slot holders for their horse entered in the major race next year.
The racebook competition is held at various key feature meetings in the western region, a way to give back to the community according to Wayne Loader.
“When the whole idea of The Eureka came forward, it was about how best to promote our sport,” said Loader.
“I thought we could give back to the community in a way and promote the idea through our Carnival of Cups meetings in the Western District.
“We will also be giving away another two per cent share to a charity that we will announce when the winner of the racebook competition is revealed.”
The next meeting patrons can enter this competition will be at Bathurst’s Carnival of Cups on December 26 that also features the $50,000 Shirley Turnbull Memorial.
The Carnival of Cups then rolls through to Maitland on December 30, featuring the 60th Inter City Pace Final and then back to the Western Districts for the Parkes Carnival of Cups on December 31.
A day later Leeton will host its Carnival of Cups meeting with four main attractions including the Leeton Pacers Cup, the Golden Apple, the Milbrae Quarries Final and the Kriden Park Invitational Ladies Race.
