Ison hunting for win 500 in Newcastle

After a major highlight at Newcastle last week Tom Ison returns to the same venue today on the quest for a milestone.

The Tamworth-based horseman won the $100,000 TAB Regional Championships Hunter Final with Metallica Man last Friday – the biggest win of Ison’s career.

This result gave Ison his 497th win as a driver and he has three drives today to aim at obtaining 500 career wins.

Ison has only been training horses since the 2021 season and has obtained 22 winners with 12 of those this season.

Ison’s three drives today are on horses he trains including Hidden Figure in race three, Special Ned in race six and Our Aunty Ash in race seven.
