Star of The Voice Bella Mackenzie to headline Breeders Challenge Finals Day

4 October 2023

One of the most memorable performers from the current season of Channel Seven’s ratings hit The Voice will headline the revamped Breeders Challenge Finals day at Club Menangle later this month.

Emerging country star Bella Mackenzie and her band will provide trackside entertainment for racegoers on one of the biggest days on Australia’s harness racing calendar.
The Breeders Challenge Finals have moved back to a Sunday afternoon for a family-friendly day at the races for all ages on 29 October.
Bella and her band will be performing live on a program that includes four Group 1 finals for the best two and three-year-old Standardbreds in the country.
The 18-year-old singer-songwriter won over Australia with her audition, putting a country twist on a cover of Taylor Swift’s world-wide smash hit Anti-Hero. She continued to impress as she progressed through to the semi-finals of The Voice under the tutelage of Guy Sebastian.
Now she will be bringing her talents to Club Menangle with a set that will include many of her original hits that are set to dominate the Australian music scene in the coming months.
“Bella is one of the rising stars of Australian music and we are delighted to be able to host her and her band at Club Menangle as she lays down the soundtrack for a really exciting change in the way we deliver our Breeders Challenge Finals day,” HRNSW Chief Executive Peter Buckman said.
“She made a big impression on the show and was one of the faces of the publicity campaign for The Voice so she will be familiar to people of all ages which really is what the new and improved family-friendly Breeders Challenge Finals day is all about.”
Club Menangle Chief Executive Bruce Christison said the Breeders Challenge Finals day will continue what is an exciting time for harness racing following the success of the inaugural running of the world’s richest race, the TAB Eureka last month.
“There is nothing better than seeing our track full of people having a great time while witnessing the best racing product in the country,” Mr Christison said.
“We’ll see it evolve again on October 29. It will be a day event with plenty to see and do for all ages and having Bella and her band trackside to provide the musical entertainment is going to be a definite highlight for everyone who attends.”
Racegoers will be treated to an array of food and drink options onsite, while children will be entertained by a number of free rides, activities and face-painting. A DJ will keep the venue bouncing in between races.
Entry to Breeders Challenge Finals day is FREE FOR ALL, but you will need to register for a ticket to attend.
