General

Prior the meeting the track was inspected & the mobile barrier was tested at 4:30pm due to significant rainfall and was deemed suitable for racing with the mobile barrier to be tested again at 6:00pm which was passed with the track suitable for racing the mobile barrier was retested throughout the evening with continual rainfall.

RACE 1 – THE TAB APP PACE – 2260 metres

HURRIKANE DUDE – Yielded ground from the 500m to finish in 8th and last position beaten 57.5. A warning was issued against the gelding racing competiveness.

HOOKED ON WINNING NZ – ($18.00) Driver Jason Turnbull was queried into the seemingly poor performance of the gelding which gave ground from the 400m to finish in 7th position beaten 41m after racing behind the leader for majority of the event. Mr Turnbull advised the gelding to be disappointing and contributed the performance to a combination of the gelding being used off the barrier arm more than previous starts with the consistent speed of the event along with the gelding having two (2) weeks between runs. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

SHANNONIDEAL – Post-race swab.

MY RAY LEE – Pre-race swab.

MAID OF MONEY NZ – Pre-race swab.

RACE 2 – SOHO TRIBECA @ LLOWALONG FARMS PACE – 1730 metres

THE EX HORSEIST – Post-race swab.

HEA ON THE BUZZER NZ – Held up during the early stages of the home straight prior to obtaining clear running along the sprint lane.

DANCE BABY DANCE – ($7.50) Driver Mat Rue was queried into the tactics adopted upon the mare which finished in 6th position beaten 17.6m in particular his decision to direct DANCE BABY DANCE to the marker line shortly after the start was effected placing DANCE BABY DANCE four (4) back the marker line and if he gave consideration to remain in the running line. Mr Rue advised he did give consideration to remain in the running line but was of the opinion that MILLIONDOLLAR KISS which had drawn barrier one would have sufficient speed to hold the lead and he would be able to race three back the marker line as DANCE BABY DANCE provided to be disappointing at its most recent start at Bathurst on 12th January 2024 when racing in a one-one position being beaten 20.2m. However FIREHOUSE was able to show more gate speed and was able progress to the lead soon after start was effected which placed DANCE BABY DANCE one position back further than expected along the marker line. Mr Rue added DANCE BABY DANCE in his opinion is best driven conservatively when racing on the bigger racing circuits with the stronger opposition & consistent speed throughout the event which he will continual to drive the mare in similar manner going forward. Mr Rue added DANCE BABY DANCE is better suited to racing on the smaller racing circuits within the region which he will attempt to restrict DANCE BABY DANCE racing at where the mare can be driven in a more positive manner. Upon consideration of the statement of Mr Rue and viewing the prior racing performance of the mare at the Bathurst track the stewards deemed the tactics were not unreasonable in the circumstances and expect DANCE BABY DANCE to be driven in consisted manner going forward at the circuit.

Driver Anthony Frisby was queried into the seemingly poor performance of the gelding which finished in 8th and last position beaten 23.1m after racing in a favourable one-one position throughout the event. Mr Frisby advised the gelding to be disappointing & was at a loss to explain the performance and he would consult with connections in regards to the racing future of the gelding within his stable.
