RACE 1 – NUTRIEN EQUINE HRNSW GUARANTEED LADYSHIP PACE – 1980 metres

ROCK AROUND – Hung out rounding the turn after the start. 

BATED BREATH – When questioned in relation to the performance, driver J Turnbull explained that he intended to drive forward at the start and obtain a position outside the lead if possible.  He said that he was trapped wide when attempting to achieve this and for this reason he was obliged to drive further forward and eventually take the lead.  He said that passing the winning post on the first occasion after being crossed, BATED BREATH travelled relatively well, however when placed under pressure near the 700 metres was unresponsive, then began to weaken noticeably inside the 300 metres.  He said that in his opinion BATED BREATH was not suited to the distance of today’s race and understood that the gelding would be placed shorter distance races in future.  A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormality.

EYEKNOWTHEFACE – Driver C Shepherdson was reprimanded under AR 168(1)(a), for allowing the mare to contact the sulky of LILLY SHANNON when racing behind that runner passing the 1300 metres.

KISSED BY A ROSE – Pre-race blood sample.  Trainer/driver Mr N Turnbull was cautioned in relation to the manner he applied the whip over the concluding stages. 

ASHLEYS BLUE CHIP – Post-race swab sample.

 

RACE 2 – THE TAB APP PACE – 1609 metres

MUDDY MONTANA – Broke stride free of any external factors rounding the turn after the start and galloped.  Trainer/driver Mr D Mackney was advised that a warning would be placed on the horse’s racing record.

AMERICAN MANDY – Sustained a flat tyre shortly after the start.

HAPPY HAMISH – Pre-race blood sample. 

POTTER – Had to be checked rounding the turn after the start when racing behind MUDDY MONTANA.

JAYJAYBENNY – Post-race swab sample.

 

RACE 3 – WEST DIGGERS WARATAH HEAT – 1609 metres

TRIOLI – Broke stride shortly after the start and galloped.  Connections were advised that a warning would be placed on the mare’s racing record.  Had to be checked rounding the turn after the winning post on the first occasion when racing behind RIPPIN RUPERT which had galloped. 

ROCKNROLL TONY – Pre-race blood sample.  Held up in the home straight and unable to obtain clear running.

COUNTRY MAJOR – Driver M Grima was reprimanded under AR 170(1)(b), for allowing his foot to drop below the sulky rest near the 500 metres when activating gear.

BEE SEVENTEEN – Post-race swab sample.

VAN NIEKERK NZ – Had to be checked severely shortly after the start when racing behind TRIOLI.  Held up in the home straight unable to obtain clear running and went to the finish without being tested.

MILLIONDOLLAR KISS – When questioned in relation to his driving, N Turnbull explained that entering the back straight on the first occasion he was unhappy with the moderate tempo being set by the leaders and for this reason he elected to shift to a three wide to drive forward in an attempt to establish a position outside the lead.  He said that whilst he gained a response from MILLIONDOLLAR KISS during this time he was unable to cross forward of COUNTRY MAJOR due to his drive having a tendency to hang out entering the home straight on the first occasion and was trapped wide for the remainder.  He said that he decided to maintain this position as it was in his opinion unreasonable to restrain to the rear of the field with one lap remaining and despite racing without cover MILLIONDOLLAR KISS responded when pressured inside the 600 metres and ran to the finish moderately, however he conceded that the excessive ground covered was detrimental to its chances.  .

RIPPIN RUPERT – Broke stride and galloped during the score up.  Connections were advised that the gelding would continue to be placed outside the mobile barrier draw.  Broke stride rounding the turn after the start.  Connections were advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s racing record.

 

RACE 4 – TAMWORTH RADIO CABS PACE – 1980 metres

RACING PAULA – Pre-race blood sample.  Raced roughly for a short distance after the start.

CLASSICMAJOR – Sustained a flat tyre passing the 1100 metres.  A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormality. 

ROCLEA IMAGE – Post-race swab sample.

METALLICA MAN – Broke stride free of any external factors rounding the turn after the start and galloped.  Connections were advised that prior to racing again METALLICA MAN must perform satisfactorily in an official qualifying trial. 

FAST TRACKER – Out of position at the start.  Due to the start being delayed when a gear malfunction had to be corrected on NOR WESTA, no action was taken.

 

RACE 5 – FARRER SECURITY SERVICE PACE – 1609 metres

ROCKS ARNT PETS – Had to be checked, raced roughly and lost ground passing the 250 metres when crowded by LADY PEBBLES, which shifted out when not quite clear in search of clear running.  Subsequently A Varga the driver of LADY PEBBLES was reprimanded under AR 163(1)(a)(iii).

DOUGS RULES – Pre-race blood sample.

CHANGE OF MIND – Passed required pre-race veterinary examination.  Post-race swab sample.

CLASSIE AMERICAN NZ – Fractious in the score up.  Connections were advised that the gelding would continue to be placed outside the mobile barrier draw.

 

RACE 6 – THREAD AFFECTS – EMBROIDERY SERVICE PACE – 1980 metres

PRINCE OF PAYNE – Trainer/driver Mr T Varga pleaded guilty to a charge under AR 163(1)(c)(i), stating that when attempting to obtain clear running rounding the home turn he drove the gelding into a position where it contacted and then raced inside marker pegs for a short distance.  Mr Varga was fined $200.

ENABLE ME NZ – Broke stride free of any external factors shortly after the start and galloped for a short distance.  Connections were advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s racing record.  Post-race swab sample.  Driver J Coney was cautioned in relation to the manner that he applied the whip in the home straight.

BETTERTHANKKYLIE – Blundered and almost fell near the 700 metres, then was restrained out of the race.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare had sustained an injury to its near fore tendon.  Trainer Mr A Missen was advised that prior to racing again BETTERTHANKKYLIE must undergo a veterinary examination to determine its fitness, then perform satisfactorily in an official qualifying trial.

ZACHROONI – Pre-race blood sample.  Broke stride free of any external factors rounding the turn after the start and galloped for short distance.  Connections were advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s racing record. 

EXOTIC ROCKSTAR – When questioned in relation to the performance, driver B Hughes explained that due to the slow tempo in the early stages he elected to shift wider on the track and go forward entering the back straight on the first occasion.  He said that he obtained a position outside the lead and for a short distance the mare travelled relatively well.  He said that passing the 700 metres he attempted to go forward with the leader however when placed under pressure, EXOTIC ROCKSTAR was unresponsive and weakened quickly, then tailed the field.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.  Connections were advised that prior to racing again EXOTIC ROCKSTAR must perform competitively in an official qualifying trial.

MIDAS SHANNON – Fractious in the score up, shifted out abruptly and locked wheels with BUDDY PERFECT.  Connections were advised that the gelding would now be placed outside the mobile barrier draw.  Hampered and had to be shifted wider inside the 600 metres when racing behind EXOTIC ROCKSTAR.

BUDDY PERFECT – Hampered and locked wheels with MIDAS SHANNON during the score up.  Broke stride and galloped for a short distance later in the score up.  Connections were advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s racing record.  Hampered and had to be shifted wider inside the 600 metres when racing outside MIDAS SHANNON.

MY LATIN LADY – Had to be checked severely and broke stride shortly after the start and was disadvantaged to the extent where it took no competitive part in the event.

 

RACE 7 – PKF NEW ENGLAND NORTHWEST – ACCOUNTANTS PACE – 1980 metres

WINAMOTZA – Pre-race blood sample. 

STRAYTOTHEPOOLROOM – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding was 2/5 lame in the off fore.  Trainer Mr J Donovan was advised that a stand down period of 14 days would be applied to the gelding and prior to racing again it must undergo a veterinary examination to determine its fitness.

FOUR FEATHERS – Pulled hard in the early stages when being restrained to a position of cover.  Post-race swab sample.

SAINT KARAMARA – Out of position at the start.  Trainer/driver Mr D Chapple was fined $50 under AR 162(1)(h).

 

RACE 8 – GARRARDS HORSE AND HOUND – TRAINERS ENCOURAGEMENT PACE – 1980 metres

FOREVER MOMENTS – Pre-race blood sample.

PRINCESS REMI – Post-race swab sample.

IMFEELINGIT – When questioned in relation to the performance, driver B Hughes explained that the gelding failed to travel comfortably without cover outside the lead and had a tendency to hang in rounding the turns.  He said that when he pressured IMFEELINGIT to go forward passing the winning post with a lap to remaining, the gelding was unresponsive and weakened noticeably inside the 600 metres.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed IMFEELINGIT to be displaying a slow recovery rate.  Connections were advised that prior to racing again IMFEELINGIT must perform competitively in an official qualifying trial.

DONT TELL DOROTHY – Hampered and had to be shifted wider near the 500 metres when racing behind SPARKLING SUE.

BORROWED TIME – When questioned in relation to the performance driver J Turnbull explained that because of the geldings established racing pattern he intended to drive forward and obtain a position outside the lead. He said that entering the home straight on the first occasion he followed LOOKAT ME forward in an effort to achieve this, however LOOKAT ME was unable to cross IMFEELINGIT resulting in him being caught wide rounding the turn out of the straight. He said that this obliged him to restrain to the rear of the field to avoid covering excessive ground. He added that after obtaining a position in the running line BORROWED TIME failed to travel and despite his constant vigorous efforts would not respond and was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be displaying a slow recovery rate.

ALWAYS ON THE RUN – Locked wheels and became unbalanced for a short distance near the 500 metres when hampered by the weakening IMFEELINGIT.

DOUBLE LINES – Slow to begin.

SPARKLING SUE – Slow to begin.  Had to be steadied and shifted out abruptly inside the 500 metres when racing behind ALWAYS ON THE RUN.

 

RACE 9 – PORTABLE HORSE STABLES MAIDEN PACE – 1609 metres

OUR SAMMY JAE – Post-race swab sample.

SONOFABET – Out of position at the start.  Driver J Coney was fined $50 under AR 162(1)(h).

CASSINO MAN – Hung out in the early stages, raced roughly for a short distance rounding the turn after the start, continued to race ungenerously and was difficult to drive.  Connections were advised that the provision of last chance to race truly would be placed on the gelding’s racing record.

SHEZA TIGERESS – Pre-race blood sample.   

 

RACE 10 – CARPET ONE FLOOR & HOME TAMWORTH PACE – 1980 metres

HE SAID SHE SAID – Pre-race blood sample.  Post-race swab sample.

BULLDOG BRAWLER – Raced roughly for some distance after the start.  Connections were advised that the provision of last chance in the mobile draw would be placed on the gelding’s racing record.  When questioned in relation to the performance, driver B Hughes explained that the gelding pulled hard in the early stages when racing without cover however when placed under pressure with a lap remaining, became unresponsive and weakened noticeably inside the 500 metres.  Connections were advised that prior to racing again BULLDOG BRAWLER must perform competitively in an official qualifying trial.

DENSTOWN NZ – When questioned in relation to the performance, driver M Grima explained that when being restrained in the early stages in an attempt to find cover the gelding over raced and refused to settle.  He said that when eventually obtaining a position along the marker pegs at the rear of the field DENSTOWN NZ failed to travel and despite his constant efforts was unresponsive and weakened.  Connections were advised that prior to racing again DENSTOWN NZ must perform competitively in an official qualifying trial.

DEVELSTIX – Passed required pre-race veterinary examination. 

DON HESTON – When questioned in relation to the performance, driver P Grima explained that the gelding travelled relatively well in the early and middle stages however when shifted wider to improve in the home straight with a lap remaining, DON HESTON was unresponsive and despite his efforts from that point weakened noticeably.  Connections were advised that prior to racing again DON HESTON must perform competitively in an official qualifying trial.

SHANOCON NZ – Bled during the race.  Connections were advised that the gelding would now be subject to a 3 month stand down period, then prior to competing satisfactorily in an official qualifying trial must undergo a veterinary examination to determine its fitness.
