ROLL WITH SLOY – Pre-race blood sample. Commenced to weaken passing the 600 metres and continued to give ground over the concluding stages to be beaten 40.6 metres. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. Driver J Gallagher explained that the mare cast a near hind plate during the event. He added that being first up he was satisfied with the overall performance of ROLL WITH SLOY given her own individual mile rate was 1:52.7. J Gallagher explained he was not expecting such a fast tempo and despite having a favourable three back on the marker peg position the tempo was just beyond ROLL WITH SLOY at this stage in her preparation. J Gallagher’s explanation was noted.

SHADES OF HEAVEN – Pre-race blood sample.

Tired significantly over the concluding stages to be beaten 49.3 metres. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. Driver S Grima explained that although he thought it was within the capabilities of CAULONIA COURAGE, the early work he added to find the position outside the leader ultimately proved to be detrimental. He added the fast second half of the mile proved to be detrimental. S Grimas’ explanation was noted. A warning was placed on CAULONIA COURAGE.
