RACE 1 – THE TAB APP PACE – 1740 metres

SPREAD THE FEAR – Near side rein became detached on the mare during the preliminary of the race. Trainer T Allamby pleaded guilty to a charge under Rule 273(2)(b) for presenting the mare to race in insecure gear in that the mare’s near side rein was not correctly fitted resulting in it coming undone during the preliminary. In considering penalty, Stewards took into account T Allamby’s guilty plea, his clear record under this rule, precedent penalties and the safety ramifications. T Allamby was fined the sum of $300.

WOT DYA RECKON – Pre-race swab sampled. Post-race swab sampled.

THE MAYNE MARA – Over-raced during the early and middle stages of the event, for which a warning was issued. When questioned regarding the performance Driver T Osmond stated that the filly is still a bit green and it over-racing effected its chances of being able to finish the race off.

IRISH SPEED – Tired over the concluding stages of the event. A post-race Veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. A warning was placed on the mare for its performance.

RACE 2 – YIRRIBEE PACING STUD HEAT 1 – 1740 metres

SUNNYWITHACHANCE – Broke gait during the latter part of the score-up and was out of position at the start, for which a warning was issued.

DUST TO DIAMONDS – Examined by the Club Veterinarian prior to the race, as it is 13 years old and it has had over 200 race starts, and cleared to start.

ESTHER RISING – Post-race swab sampled.

MYBOYMYBOY – Pre-race swab sampled. Sulky wheel contacted by BARKWAY THOMAS near the 200 metres.

BARKWAY THOMAS – Hung-in rounding the home turn, for which a warning was issued. Shifted out near the 200 metres, when Driver G Hoy was attempting to prevent it shifting-in while it was hanging-in, and as a result contacted the sulky wheel of MYBOYMYBOY. Placed back in the draw for future mobile start races.

SIGNOR JUJON – Checked during the latter part of the score-up when SUNNYWITHACHANCE broke gait and was out of position at the start. Prior to the all-clear being given, Stewards reviewed the footage of the start and subsequently acting under Rule 15(t) declared the horse a non-runner as they were of the view that it had been denied the opportunity of a fair start. SIGNOR JUJON was officially withdrawn at 2.15pm.

RACE 3 – PREMIUM PUNTER HEAT 2 – 1740 metres

OUR THUNDER – Pre-race swab sampled. Hung-out during the score-up at the second attempt to start the race.

ARTS CLASSIC – Shifted-in entering the first turn, resulting in THATS THE ATTITUDE being checked. At a subsequent inquiry, Driver W Cochrane pleaded guilty to a charge under Rule 165(1)(b) for shifting his runner in entering the first turn when not sufficiently clear of THATS THE ATTITUDE which was tightened for room, checked and lost its rightful position. In assessing penalty, Stewards took into account W Cochrane’s guilty plea, his good driving record with regards to this rule and the particular circumstances of the incident. Driver W Cochrane had his license to drive in races suspended for a period of 7 days.

CHARGING BULL – A false start was declared at the first attempt to start the event, when Driver B Neely indicated to the starter that he had a gear issue. At a subsequent inquiry B Neely stated that one of the other Driver’s had indicated to him and the starter that the gelding’s ear plug had come out and he had asked for the start to be aborted. Given the circumstances and B Neely’s inexperience as a Driver no action was taken, with Stewards advising B Neely that in future in similar circumstances he would be likely to be penalised for delaying the start for an ear plug coming out.

THATS THE ATTITUDE – Tightened for room and checked, losing its rightful position entering the first turn when ARTS CLASSIC shifted-in.

REDBANK HARRY – Examined by the Club Veterinarian prior to the race, as it is 12 years old and it has had over 200 race starts, and cleared to start. Over-raced during the middle stages of the event. Post-race swab sampled.

Trainer/Driver J Rattray was questioned regarding the performance and what appeared to be a lack of vigour when driving the gelding in the home straight, he stated that the gelding had hung-out and raced roughly near the 200 metres and from that point did not pace fluently. He added he felt if he had of placed it under any more pressure than what he did it would have broken gait.
