RACE 1 – ACCESS GROUP SOLUTIONS SECURITY SERVICES TROTTERS STANDING START HANDICAP – 1609 metres

IM THE COMMANDO NZ – Trainer C Judd was fined $50 under Rule 210 for failing to declare M Turnbull as the driver by the prescribed time. Pre-race blood sample. Galloped out at the start, galloped excessively and took no competitive part in the event. As a result IM THE COMMANDO NZ will now be placed outside the draw under standing start conditions and will also be stood down until it completes one requalifying trial under standing start conditions. It was reported following the event that the crupper on the gelding had slipped forward whilst in a gallop.

KYLIES LIFE – Became unbalanced and galloped passing the 550 metres for which the mare will now be stood down until it completes one requalifying trial.

YOUNG SON – Became unbalanced and galloped shortly after the start for which the gelding will continue to be placed right outside of the standing start draw and will also be stood down until it completes one requalifying trial under standing start conditions.

SHOULD BEABARCA – Checked leaving the 550 metres when avoiding the galloping KYLIES LIFE.

MELPARK MAGIC – A pre and post-race veterinary examination was conducted due to the gelding having competed in excess of 200 race starts. No obvious abnormalities were detected on either examination.

OH NOVA LOVE NZ – Began badly.

TWIXTEN – Checked passing the 550 metres when avoiding the galloping the galloping KYLIES LIFE.

LEAF STRIDE NZ – Post-race swab sample.

MONARCH STRIDE – Hampered passing the 550 metres when avoiding the galloping KYLIES LIFE.

ALDEBARAN JENSEN – Checked passing the 550 metres when avoiding the galloping KYLIES LIFE.

 

RACE 2 – D M PLUMBING PACE – 1609 metres

KNOCKAWARWON NZ – Post-race swab sample.

WHAT FOR – Unable to secure clear running in the early stages of the home straight.

OJENNY MAY – Pre-race blood sample.

WILL I AM – Caught racing three wide in the early stages until being restrained to the tail of the field passing the 1200 metres.

LETTUCE GO MIKI – Hung out approaching the 350 metres and improved into restricted room to the inside of MERCURIUS and as a result raced in restricted room before coming unbalanced and galloping for which a warning was issued. Will now be reincluded into the mobile barrier draw.

 

RACE 3 – NUTRIEN EQUINE RACE SERIES 3 2YO FILLIES HEAT – 1609 metres

LONDON BABY – Driver A Turnbull was fined $100 under Rule 162(1)(y) for failing to adhere to the minimum time standards for the second quarter.

SUGAR RUSH – Pre-race blood sample. Unable to secure clear running in the early stages of the home straight and was not fully tested.

CRUSADER MISS - Trainer R Alchin was fined $50 under Rule 268A(1) for failing to lodge a gear form for the filly.

PEACE OUT – Will now be reincluded into the mobile barrier draw. Post-race swab sample.

 

RACE 4 – SUCCESS STUD CELEBRATING 56 YEARS OF BUSINESS PACE – 1609 metres

HARRYS DEAL NZ – Pre-race blood sample. Worked forward to obtain the lead passing the 1200 metres. Post-race swab sample.

 

RACE 5 – NUTRIEN EQUINE RACE SERIES 3 2YO COLTS & GELDINGS HEAT – 1609 metres

ITS CONFIDENTIAL – Pre-race blood sample. Became unbalanced and galloped during the score up before pacing for a short distance and then struck the near side sulky wheel, becoming unbalanced and galloping on a second occasion. Driver N Jack raised his hand indicating he had a gear issue. Driver N Jack pleaded guilty to a charge under Rule 273(2)(a) in that he presented ITS CONFIDENTIAL to start in a race with the sulky incorrectly fitted and as a result that allowed the colt to strike the sulky wheel and become unbalanced and gallop. Mr Jack was fined $500 after considering his record and the circumstances of this incident. Became unbalanced and galloped on a second occasion after the start as a result of the indiscretion in the score up on the first occasion and then galloping out after the start on the second occasion, the colt will now be excluded from the mobile barrier draw. Hung in under pressure in the home straight on the final occasion despite the efforts of Driver N Jack and as a result placed GO WITHOUT in restricted room throughout the home straight. Post-race swab sample.

LOCKITINEDDY – Unable to secure clear running in the latter stages of the home straight and was checked when contacting the sulky wheel of RED SAPPHIRE passing the 50 metres when that runner shifted down the track to its outside abruptly.

STAY FOOLISH - Trainer A Turnbull was fined $50 under Rule 268A(1) for failing to lodge a gear form for the colt.

PETES CRUNCH TIME – Raced rough throughout the event and was checked when being held up approaching the 50 metres when avoiding the incident forward of it between LOCKITINEDDY and RED SAPPHIRE.

GO WITHOUT – Trainer R Alchin was fined $50 under Rule 268A(1) for failing to lodge a gear form for the colt. Tightened to the inside of ITS CONFIDENTIAL in the home straight on the final occasion. Driver R Alchin was found guilty of a charge under Rule 156(2)(a) in that leaving the 75 metres he has applied his whip on at least three occasions in more than a wrist only flicking motion. Driver R Alchin was fined $200 after considering his recent offence record.

WARRAWEES SHOUT – Hung out after the start before veering up the track approaching the first turn for which the gelding will continue to be placed outside the mobile barrier draw. In considering the significance of the incident approaching the first turn was stood down until it completes one requalifying trial. a post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

RED SAPPHIRE – Raced greenly in the home straight on the final occasion before shifting in passing the 50 metres and as a result contacted LOCKITINEDDY causing that runner to be checked and race rough. In not taking any action against Driver B Portelli or RED SAPPHIRE Stewards noted the close proximity to which runners were racing and the fact they were green 2 year olds.

 

RACE 6 – ULTRA AIR PACE – 1609 metres

THE GOLDEN CROSS NZ – A pre and post-race veterinary examination was conducted due to the gelding having competed in excess of 200 races starts. No obvious abnormalities were detected on either examination. Improved three wide from the 1050 metres until obtaining the position outside the leader passing the 950 metres.

FIFTYSHADES CRESCO – Post-race swab sample.

AERODYNE GUY – Pre-race blood sample.

RUM DELIGHT NZ - A pre and post-race veterinary examination was conducted due to the gelding having competed in excess of 200 races starts. No obvious abnormalities were detected on either examination.

DON KEE - A pre and post-race veterinary examination was conducted due to the gelding being in excess of 12 years of age and having competed in excess of 200 race starts. No obvious abnormalities were detected on either examination. Caught racing 3 wide in the early stages until being restrained to the tail of the field passing the 1200 metres.

 

RACE 7 – BLING IT ON AT COBBITY EQUINE PACE – 1609 metres

PROTAGONIST – Pre-race blood sample. Worked forward to obtain the lead passing the 1250 metres. Post-race swab sample.

MICHAEL CAINE NZ – Contacted the sulky wheel of SHARK DANCER approaching the first turn when that runner was shifted down the track without the required clearance and as a result was checked and raced rough.

SHARK DANCER – Driver S Piltz pleaded guilty to a charge under Rule 163(1)(a)(iii) for causing interference in that from passing the winning post on the first occasion until a point approaching the first turn, he has shifted SHARK DANCER down the track whilst not being clear of MICHAEL CAINE NZ and as a result contacted that runners legs causing that runner to be checked and race rough and lost its rightful running in the event. Driver S Piltz had his licence to drive in races suspended for a period of 10 days to commence midnight 11 April 2024. In assessing penalty Stewards Driver S Piltzs’ plea, circumstances of this incident and overall driving record.

 

RACE 8 – AGT SLOTS PACE – 1609 metres

VOLANDO DENARIO NZ – Trainers D and K McDowell was fined $50 under Rule 210 for failing to declare J Douglass as the driver by the prescribed time. .

RYANS GANGSTER – Post-race swab sample.

HAS THE COURAGE – Checked and paced roughly leaving the 350 metres when CAPTAIN BLOOD shifted up to the track to its inside resulting in contact to that runner.

CAPTAIN BLOOD – Pre-race blood sample. Driver B Portelli pleaded guilty to a charge under Rule 163(1)(a)(iii) for causing interference in that leaving the 350 metres he has shifted CAPTAIN BLOOD wider on the track whilst having HAS THE COURAGE racing to its outside and as a result has contacted that runner causing it to be checked and pace roughly. Driver B Portelli had his licence to drive in races suspended for a period of 10 days to commence midnight 13 April 2024. In assessing penalty Stewards Driver B Portelli’s plea, circumstances of this incident and overall driving record.

 

RACE 9 – ALLIED EXPRESS SPECIALISED LOGISTICS PACE – 1609 metres

NO DRAMAS – Pre-race blood sample. Unable to secure clear running in the home straight on the final occasion and was not fully tested.

CARRERA SUNSET NZ – Trainer J Grimson was fined $50 under Rule 268A(1) for failing to lodge a gear form for the mare. Hung out during the score up. Post-race swab sample.

IL BANDITO - Trainer R Alchin was fined $50 under Rule 268A(1) for failing to lodge a gear form for the gelding.

NEPTUNE NZ – Worked forward to obtain the lead approaching the 1250 metres.

 

GENERAL

Acting on a report received from a HRNSW compliance officer through attending the stables of D and K McDowell during the morning of Tuesday 9 April 2024, D McDowell pleaded guilty to a charge under Rule 159B(1) for failing to wear a vest when performing track work. Further Driver L Green pleaded guilty to a charge under Rule 159B(1) for failing to wear a vest when performing track work.
