As R. Morris was injured and unable to fulfil his driving engagements. The following driving changes were approved.

Driver R. Morris was advised that a medical certificate would be required prior to driving again.

RACE 1 – WAFFLE BOYS PACE - 1609metres

PAYTONS ROCK – Hung out during the middle stages of the score up.

LOVE LOU – Broke in the early stages of the score up. Will now be placed on its last chance in the draw.

CLASSICMAJOR – Held up for clear running for the majority of the home straight.

SHIRALEE – Held up for clear running in the early stages of the home straight.

FLARE UP – Held up for clear running for the majority of the home straight.

ULTRA BLISS – Pre-race blood sample. Post-race swab sample.

RACE 2 – MCCOLL FAMILY PACE – 1609metres

DENNY ROCKS – Pre-race blood sample. Stewards questioned Driver W. Rixon in regards to the performance of the gelding which gave ground over the concluding stages of the event.  W. Rixon stated that he wasn’t overly disappointed with the performance given the 26.9 second first quarter recorded along with the constant pressure of THE FORTUNATE SON during the middle stages of the event. Stewards noted the comments.

MCCRIKEY NZ – Held up for clear running for the majority of the home straight.

BIG BLACK DIAMOND – Post-race swab sample.

MARK MY WORDS NZ – Held up for clear running for the majority of the home straight.

THE FORTUNATE SON – Over-raced during the early and middle stages of the event.

RACE 3 – NEWCASTLE EQUINE CENTRE/BARASTOC PACE – 1609metres

SEASTORIE NZ – Pre-race blood sample. Driver L. Rando was reprimanded under Rule 170(1)(b) for allowing his right foot to drop from the sulky rest when releasing gear near the 400 metres. Post-race swab sample.

ABSTRACT ART – Over-raced during the middle stages of the event.

BEANCOUNTER – Contacted its own sulky wheels during the event and as a result over-raced.

OUTLOOK – Near the 150 metres was disappointed for a run to the inside of APACHE WHITESOX and as a result was obliged to shift wider on the track.

RACE 4 – MEDOWIE LODGE/MAINLEC PACE – 1609metres

RACING PAULA – Driver T. Ison was reprimanded under Rule 163(1)(a)(iii) for contributing to interference in that rounding the home turn when shifting wider on the track he forced VINCENT VAN GONE NZ into the running of RUNFROMTERROR and as a result both those runner locked wheels.

RUNFROMTERROR – Rounding the home turn hung in slightly and a short distance later when being moved wider on the track locked wheels with VINCENT VAN GONE NZ.

BETTERTHANFEDERER – Post-race swab sample.

ARDENS REALITY NZ – Trainer K. Morris was fined $100 under Rule 210 for the late notification of driver.

HE BETTOR STEP ASIDE NZ – Stewards questioned Driver D. Murphy in regards to the tempo of the event in the early stages of the event and the overall performance of the gelding. D. Murphy stated that he was instructed to find the lead which he was able to do however once leading the gelding commenced to strike its own sulky wheels and over-raced as a result. D. Murphy added that due to the quick early tempo the gelding was unable to finish the race off when asked for an effort leaving the 500 metres. Trainer B. Fitzpatrick confirmed the instruction and advised that he would give the gelding a freshen up prior to racing again. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

RYANS GANGSTER – Galloped out at the start. A warning was issued.

VINCENT VAN GONE NZ – Pre-race blood sample. Rounding the home turn was taken wider on the track and locked wheels with RUNFROMTERROR. Stewards questioned Driver J. Brown in regards to the performance of the gelding which was resuming from a lengthy spell. J. Brown stated that he anticipated on going forward at the start and finding the lead however when unable to find that position he was obliged to race outside the leader throughout the event. J. Brown added that although somewhat disappointed with the performance he was satisfied given the lengthy spell and the amount of work the gelding was required to do in a quick tempo. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

DANCE AND DELIVER – Near the 200 metres became unbalanced and galloped. A warning was issued.

RACE 5 – HUNTER VALLEY HARNESS RACING ASSOCIATION PACE – 1609metres

SHADES OF HEAVEN – Post-race swab sample.

FAST TRACKER – Hung in after the start. Between the 600 metres and 300 metres was checked behind the tiring TALENT AGENT NZ.

HEAVENLY HOLLY – Shifted out under pressure in the run to the finish. A warning was issued.

HAZELNUTS – Pre-race blood sample. Inconvenienced between the 400 metres and 300 metres behind the tiring TALENT AGENT NZ.

TALENT AGENT NZ – Stewards questioned Driver T. Williams in regards to the performance of the gelding which weakened from the 600 metres. T. Williams stated that he could offer no explanation for the performance in tonight’s event and was disappointed. T. Williams added that the gelding would more than likely leave his stable following its performance tonight. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. In view of the performance a warning was issued.

ROBBIE ROCKET – Stewards questioned Driver J. Brown in regards to the performance of the gelding. J. Brown stated that he was satisfied with the performance considering he was forced wider on the track when improving into the event leaving the 600 metres and once entering the home straight found the line well. Stewards noted the comments.

RACE 6 – BILL AND GLEN TOMLIN MEMORIAL FINAL – 2030metres

HALSEY NICOLE – Pre-race blood sample. Near the 600 metres contacted the offside sulky wheel of LACHIES IDEAL NZ when that runner and TEAK NZ jostled for some distance. Drier J. Taaffe was advised that he must ensure he allows enough room when shifting wider on the track. Driver J. Taaffee pleaded guilty to a charge under Rule 163(1)(a)(iii) for causing interference in that approaching the home turn on the final occasion he allowed HALSEY NICOLE to shift down the track when not clear of LACHIES IDEAL NZ and as a result that runner was checked and broke. Driver J. Taaffe’s licence to drive in races was suspended for a period of 14 days to commence at midnight 5th May 2024.

KARAOKE KING – Post-race swab sample.

LACHIES IDEAL – Near the 600 metres jostled with TEAK NZ for some distance and as a result HALSEY NICOLE struck the offside sulky wheel and as a result flattened the tyre. Approaching the home turn was checked and broke when HALSEY NICOLE shifted in.

CAPTAIN DORIAN – Held up for clear running for the majority of the home straight.

TEAK NZ – Held up for clear running for the majority of the home straight.

LIGHTNING BOB – Held up for clear running in the early stages of the home straight.

RACE 7 – MANTLES BUILDING & LANDSCAPE SUPPLIES/RANVET PACE – 1609metres

SPUNKYS GOTSECRETS – Slow to begin.

MISS OUT – Broke its rein burr shortly after the start.

IDEAL DESIRE – Post-race swab sample.

FOUR FEATHERS – Over-raced during the middle stages of the event.

IDEAL MONDO – Pre-race blood sample.

SHADOW ECLIPSE – Over-raced during the middle stages of the event.

RACE 8 – GARRARDS HORSE & HOUND PACE – 2030metres

STONEYROYD NZ – Post-race swab sample.

HIDDEN DELIGHT NZ – Held up for clear running for the majority of the home straight.

BROOKESSMARTDANCER – Pre-race blood sample.

MAMMALS RIDDLE – Held up for clear running for the majority of the home straight.

RACE 9 – HRNSW GUARANTEED HARNESS BREEDERS NSW LADYSHIP PACE – 1609metres

FEELING LUCKY – Slow to begin.

HOT JIVING – Pre-race blood sample.

FLYING SHARD – Gave ground from the 500 metres.

BOUGANVILLEA – Post-race swab sample.

AMERICAN MANDY – Inconvenienced between the 400 metres and 300 metres behind the tiring FLYING SHARD.

PRINCESS REMI – Pulled hard during the early and middle stages of the score up.

RACE 10 – CARBINE CHEMICALS/THE RUG RACK HRNSW GUARANTEED 2YO PACE – 1609metres

ARTEMISSIA – Broke after the start and dropped its near side bell boot. The filly will now be placed outside the draw in future mobile starts. Over-raced during the middle stages of the event.

HALF HOLIDAY – Rounding the first turn became unbalanced and galloped. In view of the colt’s performance it will be stood down until it can complete one satisfactory trial. Over-raced during the middle stages of the event. Driver D. Grant reported that the colt was striking its own sulky wheels throughout the event.

SENSATIONALIZE – Shifted out under pressure in the run to the finish. Post-race swab sample.

RED SAPPHIRE – Will now be re-included in the mobile barrier draw.

CAPTAIN KAOS NZ – Pre-race blood sample. Will now be re-included in the mobile barrier draw.
