Trainer/driver Shane Hallcroft was queried into the overall performance of the mare which finished in 7th position beaten 22.9m after improving three (3) wide from the 800m. Mr Hallcroft advised BIDGEE BABE to be disappointing & attributed the performance to the mare being unable to sustain a three (3) wide run without cover such a distance from the finish.
RACE 2 – COOLAMON SPORT AND RECREATION CLUB MAIDEN PACE –1760 metres
QUICKSHIFT GIRL – Pre-race swab. Driver Fiona Schmetzer pleaded guilty to a charge under AHR Rule 163(1(b)(ii) Which reads: A Driver shall not- impede the forward progress of another runner. The particulars of the charge Ms Schmetzer shifted outward passing the 1400m when insufficiently clear of OLE CHESTER which had progressed to her sulky wheel and impeded the progress of that runner in being taking wider than necessary. In assessing penalty Stewards considered the relevant factors as outlined within the HRNSW Penalty Guidelines, Ms Schmetzer’s guilty plea, the degree of interference which was assessed in the low-range and her prior record under this rule with her last offence (August 2015). Stewards accordingly imposed a seven (7) day suspension of her license to drive in races which was ordered to commence at midnight on 5th May 2024.
