RACE 1 – TAB VENUE MODE PACE – 1609 metres

DON KEE – A pre and post-race veterinary examination was conducted due to the horse having competed in excess of 200 race starts. Both examinations failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities. Pre-race blood sample.

OUR BUSHWACKER - A pre and post-race veterinary examination was conducted due to the horse having competed in excess of 200 race starts. Both examinations failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.

THE DUDE NZ – Commenced to improve three wide passing the 1200 metres before finding the position outside the leader approaching the 1000 metres. Commenced to tire from the 400 metres before being beaten 48.8 metres. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have bled from both nostrils. After confirming this was the gelding’s first bleeding attack, in accordance with Rule 101(3) the gelding will now be stood down for a period of 3 months, 1 requalifying trial and a veterinary certificate of clearance is provided.

THREE SMOOCHAS – Worked forward to the lead passing the 1400 metres. Post-race swab sample.

SEACRAFT – Out of position at the start and will be continued out of the draw in mobile starts.

IRE OF THE DRAGON – Over raced throughout the event.

 

RACE 2 – SOMERSET MEATS PACE – 1609 metres

SUNDAY SESH – Driver Andrew Bourke was questioned with regards to the overall performance of the mare which after being able to lead the event gave ground over the concluding stages to be beaten 32.4 metres. Mr Bourke explained the first quarter was run in 26.5 seconds and was quicker than anticipated which contributed to the overall performance of the mare.

HAPPY AS - A pre and post-race veterinary examination was conducted due to the horse having competed in excess of 200 race starts. Both examinations failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities. Held up in the early stages of the home straight.

GLENFRANKIE – Post-race swab sample.

STELLAS DELIGHT NZ – Trainer/Driver Grace Panella was questioned in regards to the overall performance of the mare after racing in a position outside the leader, failed to run on over the concluding stages to be beaten 20.7 metres. Ms Panella stated she believed she would be able to find the front after pressing forward early however was unable to do so and had to remain in the position outside the leader and felt that along with the early work in a 26.5 second first quarter contributed to the overall performance.

MACH CHARM - A pre and post-race veterinary examination was conducted due to the horse having competed in excess of 200 race starts. Both examinations failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.

SULTAN FELLA - A pre and post-race veterinary examination was conducted due to the horse having competed in excess of 200 race starts. Both examinations failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities. Pre-race blood sample.

BREXITT – Broke in the score up and was out of position at the start. Given the recent record of the gelding, BREXITT will now be excluded from mobile barrier draws.

 

RACE 3 – GLOBAL BRANDS PACE – 1609 metres

TAFL MOVE – Driver Dan Morgan was issued a reprimand under Rule 170(1)(a) for allowing his left foot to drop from the sulky rest when activating deafeners. Post-race swab sample.

MOONLIGHT CRUISER – Broke free of interference passing the 1400 metres for which a warning was issued and took no competitive part in the event.

EIFFEL FROM HEAVEN – Driver Tom Callaghan was cautioned for allowing his left foot to slip momentarily from the sulky rest.

HOLD BACK THE RIVER NZ – Pre-race blood sample. Caught wide early before working forward to a position outside the leader passing the 1400 metres.

 

RACE 4 – SLICKS CHICKS PACE – 1609 metres

WAITING FOR LOVE – Worked forward to the lead passing the 1100 metres. Post-race swab sample.

TOUGH TALKS – Held up in the early stages of the home straight before gaining a run to the inside of CLOUDIN UP and WAITING FOR LOVE.

GLITTER STRIP – Driver Darren Elder was questioned in regards to his driving tactics in the event after working forward to the lead passing the 1350 metres surrendering the lead shortly after at the 1100 metres before moving away from marker pegs to race in a position outside the leader from the 1050 metres. Mr Elder explained that when WAITING FOR LOVE worked forward to the lead the pace of the race eased and his runner was checked as he raced over the back of WAITING FOR LOVE and as a result Mr Elder felt his best option at that stage was to move to a position outside the leader. Stewards noted the comments of Mr Elder.

ROCKINTHECITY – Pre-race blood sample. Caught wide early before working forward at a point approaching the 1050 metres when GLITTER STRIP moved away from marker pegs resulting in ROCKINTHECITY to remain racing in a three wide position for the remainder of the event. Gave ground over the concluding stages to be beaten 35.2 metres.

 

RACE 5 – RARITY WHOLESALE PACE – 1609 metres

LUCKY RICTOR – Pre-race blood sample. Held up for clear running in the home straight and was not fully tested.

RAINBOW REASON – Stewards questioned Driver Jack Brown in regards to his driving tactics, of particular concern was at a point approaching the 300 metres when Mr Brown had an opportunity to work off the fence and into the running line he elected to stay in a position on the marker pegs before being held up for clear running in the home straight and not being fully tested. Mr Brown stated he commenced to move away from the marker pegs approaching the 300 metres when FOR THREE REASONS and CAROLSDIAMOND commenced to engage in a jostle. Mr Brown felt if he had of moved wider then he would have needed to improve four wide and he believed he was in a position where he would have been able to gain a run to the inside which didn’t eventuate and as a result was held up for clear running. Stewards noted the comments of Mr Brown.

CAROLSDIAMOND – Caught wide early before working forward to a position outside the leader passing the 1300 metres.

MICHAEL CAINE NZ – Out of position at the start for which a warning issued. Caught wide early before being restrained in the middle stages to a position in the running in passing the 1000 metres. Uncompetitive throughout the event before being beaten 40.5 metres as a $1.80 favourite. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities and given the overall performance of the gelding will be stood down to perform one requalifying trial.

RACE 6 – COCO COLA PACE – 1609 metres

WHERESTHEBOY – Pre-race blood sample.

GROSESTAR – Worked forward to the lead passing the 1400 metres.

RIPSTONE SNORTER – Post-race swab sample.

CLASSIC ARC – Driver Jakes Hughes, acting as stable representative was issued a reprimand under Rule 135(2) for failing to have the gelding on track by the prescribed time. In taking no further action Stewards were mindful of the reasons for Mr Hughes being unable to get on track by the prescribed time was a gear malfunction in the stabling area. Out of position at the start and no action was taken due to the speed of the mobile.

THE MALDIVES - A pre and post-race veterinary examination was conducted due to the horse having competed in excess of 200 race starts. Both examinations failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities. Out of position at the start and no action was taken due to the speed of the mobile. Caught wide early before working forward to a position outside the leader passing the 1100 metres.

 

RACE 7 – THOMPSON’S WHOLESALE BAKERY PACE – 1609 metres

CONOR MCGREGOR NZ – Caught wide early before working forward to a position outside the leader passing the 1200 metres. Post-race swab sample.

BE GOOD BENNY – Pre-race blood sample.

 

RACE 8 – TOOHEYS PACE – 2030 metres

VINETTE – Pre-race blood sample. Driver Josh Gallagher was questioned with regards to the overall performance of the mare where after being able to lead the event failed to run on over the concluding stages to be beaten into 5th position beaten 25.9 metres. Mr Gallagher stated due to pressure from MICK DANGER racing to his outside the second quarter was run in 28.9 and the third quarter 27.7 which was faster than Mr Gallagher hoped and he believed that contributed to the overall performance of the mare. Stewards noted the comments of Mr Gallagher.

SOHO SINATRA – Caught wide early before being restrained to a position in the running line passing the 1500 metres.

SCOTLYNN BEACH NZ – Failed to score up and stood flat footed in the middle of the track taking no part in the event. Given the recent record of the gelding SCOTLYNN BEACH NZ will be continued right out of the draw in mobile starts and was also stood down for two requalifying trials which must be completed consecutively and for a period of 14 days.

SWEET CREATION – Approaching the 600 metres broke gait free of interference for which a warning was issued. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.

NIFTY STUDLEIGH - A pre and post-race veterinary examination was conducted due to the horse having competed in excess of 200 race starts. Both examinations failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.
