RACE 1 – COACHMAN HOTEL PACE – 1660 metres

LARA TIARA – Broke stride for a considerable distance in the score up. A warning was issued. Post-race swab sample.

MAMMALS ALIBI – Driver J Turnbull was questioned on the tempo of the race when leading unchallenged in particular during the third quarter where the speed increased marginally to 28.7 considering the first half was run in 57.6 seconds. The instructions were to drive the gelding the same as last start where he was successful by allowing him to run along in front to take the sprint out of other runners as MAMMALS ALIBI is one paced. Mr Turnbull was aware he was running along but the gelding was travelling easy on its own accord, leaving the 700 metres he allowed the gelding to maintain the speed of the race and was happy with the gelding only getting caught over the concluding stages to be beaten 1.1 metres. In assessing stewards could not be satisfied the drive to culpable enough to take action against Mr Turnbull`s licence but did advise that he had erred by allowing MAMMALS ALIBI to increase the speed in the third quarter to 28.7 seconds particularly when the first half was run in 57.6 seconds.

SONGBIRD NZ – Hung in under pressure at the 200 metres resulting in locking wheels with BLING THE LUCK. Driver B Micallef was questioned on the overall performance of the mare which tired over the concluding stages to finish in 8th position beaten 32.4 metres. Mr Micallef stated the fast mile rate (1:55:9) and being caught racing without cover proved detrimental to the mares’ overall performance.

BACKINTOWN – Driver J Locke was issued a reprimand under Rule 163(1)(a)(iii) in that approaching the 1400 metres he has shifted his runner down to a position in the running line when insufficiently clear of A DUSTY DANCE, as a result that runner was inconvenienced.

A DUSTY DANCE – Inconvenienced at the 1400 metres when BACKINTOWN had shifted down the track.

BOLD COWBOY – Pre-race blood sample.

BLING THE LUCK – Inconvenienced at the 200 metres when locking wheels with SONGBIRD NZ.

HARLEY JAMES – A pre- and post-race veterinary examination as the gelding is 12 years of age. No abnormalities were detected on either examination.

RACE 2 – PARKES FARM CENTRE PACE – 1660 metres

JILLIBY GIZMO – Driver I Ross was issued a reprimand under Rule 163(1)(a)(iii) in that approaching the 150 metres when improving onto the back of the tiring TWISTED MISTRESS she has shifted her runner wider on the track and as a result has caused SPORTY MICKILLA to be inconvenienced.

ULANNBAATAR – Pre-race blood sample. Held up for clear racing room in the run to the finish and was not fully tested.

ROLL THE SEVEN – Post-race blood sample.

SPORTY MICKILLA – Inconvenienced at the 150 metres when JILLIBY GIZMO shifted out. Driver O Frisby was queried on the overall performance of the gelding who failed to run on over the concluding stages to finish in 8th position beaten 17.8 metres. Miss Frisby stated from the second row draw the gelding raced near the tail of the field and when making ground over the final 500 metres found it hard to make ground when racing wide. She further stated SPORTY MICKILLA may be better suited over the longer journey.

RACE 3 – KENNARDS HIRE PARKES PACE – 2040 metres

CARBAGANOOSH – Approaching the 100 metres ha momentarily locked wheels with BETTING RANGER and was inconvenienced when improving to the inside of that runner who had also locked wheels and was shifting down the track. Driver E Dwyer was advised to take care in similar circumstances.

BETTING RANGER – Driver L Rusten was issued a reprimand under Rule 168(1)(a) careless, in that when entering the home straight on the final occasion when activating gear has allowed her runner to shift up the track locking wheels with A MAJOR STARR NZ for a considerable distance.

A MAJOR STARR NZ – Entering the home straight on the final occasion was checked when locking wheels with BETTING RANGER.

DELIGHTFUL STAR NZ – Post-race swab sample.

ALWAYSBMYPONY – Pre-race blood sample.

RACE 4 – LANGLANDS HANLON PACE – 1660 metres

KARLOO LOUIE – Post-race swab sample.

ON DEADLINE NZ – Pre-race blood sample. Trainer Driver N Turnbull was queried on the overall performance of the horse after working three wide in the early stages to obtain the position outside the lead, failed to run on over the final 500 metres to finish in 10th and last position beaten 41.8 metres. Mr Turnbull stated how the race was run was not suitable and may have erred by racing three wide in the middle quarter when that was run in 28.3 seconds, when placed under pressure at the 500 metres the horse failed to run on to be slightly disappointing. He further added he would have the horse fully checked over with bloods also being taken in the coming days and would report to stewards any irregularities. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

RACE 5 – TELESCOPE/HANKOOK TYRES PARKES PACE – 1660 metres

WHATABOUTBRONSON – Leaving the 300 metres was checked and raced roughly after contacting the sulky wheel of KERPAT JOY who had shifted down when insufficiently clear.

KERPAT JOY – Pre-race blood sample. Driver L Rusten pleaded guilty to a charge under Rule 163(1)(a)(iii) in that when leaving the 300 metres she has allowed her runner to shift down the track when insufficiently clear of WHATABOUTBRONSON with that runner making contact to her outside sulky wheel and racing rough for a short distance. Considering Miss Rusten’s guilty plea, record in relation to this rule and degree of carelessness, Stewards announced a suspension of her driver’s license for a period of 7 days to commence midnight Wednesday 19 June 2024. Post-race swab sample.

UNCLE CRAIGO – Declared a late scratching by order of Stewards at 10.31am.

SHEZ A WARRIOR – Driver O Frisby was queried on the mare's overall performance after leading the event failed to run on over the concluding stages to finish in 6th position beaten 11.9 metres. Miss Frisby stated when finding the lead, the mare failed to settle and as a result of over racing failed to run on over the concluding stages.

ALWAYSBMINNIE – Post-race swab sample.

RACE 7 – THE TAB APP MAIDEN PACE – 1660 metres

HYDEEHO NZ – Post-race swab sample.

AUNTY JAMIE – Pre-race blood sample. Approaching the 1400 metres became unbalanced and broke stride. Considering the filly’s recent record and being the first start for Trainer M Parsons, AUNTIE JAMIE will be stood down for one requalifying trial.

ROCKNROLL RAMBO – Despite the efforts of its Driver was out of position at the start. A warning was issued.

STAR GULLY EVE – Driver M Day was queried on the performance and the driving over the final 400 metres. He stated when leaving the 400 metres ROCKNROLL RAMBO had improved to his outside and with his filly racing roughly didn`t want to race to wide and elected to shift back down the track where he was able to obtain clear running with the filly hard to drive out as she felt as though she may break stride.
