RACE 1 – CHRISTMAS IN JULY RACE NIGHT JULY 12 CLUB PACEWAY PACE – 1720 metres

Connections of second placed MAURLEN BOY lodged a protest against first placed HEAVENLY BELLE alleging interference over the final 200 metres. It was established that leaving the 200 metres HEAVENLY BELLE shifted out slightly and continued to shift out gradually between the 150 metres and the 75 metres at which point HEAVENLY BELLE was corrected by its driver. There was a clear gap between HEAVENLY BELLE and MAURLEN BOY’S sulkies for the majority of the home straight. Furthermore, both drivers had full opportunity to drive their runners out to the finish of the event. Given that the shift from HEAVENLY BELLE was minor and, couple with the fact that MAURLEN BOY from the 75 metres shifted out independent of HEAVENLY BELLE, Stewards dismissed the protest and subsequently all clear was given on the judge’s numbers of 2 – 5 – 1 – 4.

HEAVENLY BELLE – Withstood a protest from second placed MAURLEN BOY. Shifted out slightly over between the 150 metres and 75 metres. Driver L Rando was issued a reprimand under Rule 162(1)(www)(a) for failing to make sufficient effort to prevent his runner from shifting ground. Post-race swab sample.

TIMELY SOVEREIGN – Underwent a pre and post-race veterinary examination as per HRNSW animal welfare guidelines. No abnormalities were detected. Caught wide in the early stages before working forward.

MAURLEN BOY – Caught wide during the early stages before working forward to the position outside of the leader near the 1100 metres.

WARIEDA BOY – Pre-race blood sample.

LYNNSANITY – Passing the 600 metres stuck a marker peg and dislodged it onto the racing surface.

OUR REDEMPTION – Unable to secure clear running at any stage in the home straight and was not fully tested.

RACE 2 – TAB VENUE MODE PACE – 2125 metres

FORCE FULL – Post-race swab sample.

GREY CADILLAC – Pre-race blood sample. Improved three wide during the middle stages before crossing to the position outside the leader near the 1200 metres.

FEAR THE EAGLE – Caught wide in the early stages before being restrained toward the rear of the field.

MITCHELLS RUN – Had difficulty securing clear running until passing the 75 metres at which point the gelding shifted out.

BETTOR TO BE TRICKY NZ - Underwent a pre and post-race veterinary examination as per HRNSW animal welfare guidelines. No abnormalities were detected. Held up for clear running over the concluding stages and was not fully tested.

RACE 3 – PENRITH SHOW 24TH & 25th AUGUST PACE – 1720 metres

TOP THE ACE - Underwent a pre and post-race veterinary examination as per HRNSW animal welfare guidelines. No abnormalities were detected.

ULTIMATE AD - Underwent a pre and post-race veterinary examination as per HRNSW animal welfare guidelines. No abnormalities were detected. Post-race swab sample.

TEAM OF STARZZZ – Pre-race blood sample. Underwent a pre and post-race veterinary examination as per HRNSW animal welfare guidelines. No abnormalities were detected.

CLASSIC GRANGE – Inclined to race roughly throughout the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. When questioned, Driver H Rixon was unable to provide an explanation for the gelding racing roughly throughout however did indicate that she had advised Trainer G Day to potentially apply a head check to the gelding in future starts.

MADAZALWAYS – Raced three wide during the early stages before working forward.

ALL STAR MAGICIAN – Raced three wide throughout the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. When questioned regarding the tactics employed on ALL STAR MAGICIAN Driver L Green explained that after working forward in the early stages ALL STAR MAGICIAN was overracing and he was hopeful he would be able to cross MADAZALWAYS who he did not believe was a horse that races in a position outside the leader. He added that the tempo in the early stages did not slow and he was unable to improve past MADAZALWAYS leaving the 1200 metres and near the 1100 metres he realised it would be unlikely he would be able to obtain the position outside the leader therefore he steadied his runner. L Green explained that ALL STAR MAGICIAN is a horse that needs to race close to the lead to produce its best races and is not suited to being restrained to the rear of the field or being driven with cover. L Green added when it became apparent near the 500 metres that ALL STAR MAGICIAN was not going to finish in the placings he did not place the gelding under significant pressure and was not overly disappointed with the gelding’s performance given the circumstances. L Green’s explanation was noted however he was advised to ensure he always drives with the required level of initiative and judgement.

RUM DELIGHT NZ - Underwent a pre and post-race veterinary examination as per HRNSW animal welfare guidelines. No abnormalities were detected.

CLEMENTSORELL - Underwent a pre and post-race veterinary examination as per HRNSW animal welfare guidelines. No abnormalities were detected.

RACE 4 – MAJOR OAK NEW HOME @ CLUB PACEWAY PACE – 1720 metres

The all clear was delayed in order to afford the connections of MIZZZ ADELE an opportunity to review the vision. Of concern was the run taken by CRACKABRIE NZ near the 400 metres between MIZZ ADELE which was racing three wide and ACCELERE NZ. After review of the films, the connections of MIZZZ ADELE refrained from lodging a protest and the all clear was given on the judges numbers of 2 – 10 – 7 – 4.

WHY NOT SURF – Unable to secure clear running over the concluding stages and was not fully tested.

CRACKABRIE NZ – Raced roughly during the score up. A warning was issued. Driver J Bigeni pleaded guilty to a charge under Rule 163(1)(a)(iii) causing interference in that approaching the 500 metres he shifted away from the marker pegs in an acute and aggressive manner and in doing so placed his off side wheel awkwardly under RIP JACKSON which caused that runner to be checked, race roughly and lose what was its rightful running. In assessing penalty, consideration was given to J Bigeni’s guilty plea, forthright evidence and overall driving record. J Bigeni had his licence to drive in races suspended for a period of 7 days. Post-race swab sample.

CROWN MOJO – Out of position at the start. Driver K Bigeni was fined the sum of $50 under Rule 162(1)(j).

RIP JACKSON – Pre-race blood sample. Approaching the 500 metres was placed in severely restricted room by CRACKABRIE NZ which shifted out. Subsequently RIP JACKSON was taken out toward MIZZZ ADELE and had to be checked and raced roughly.

SUNDAY MORNINGS – Post-race swab sample.
