RACE 1 – ALLIED EXPRESS PACE – 2300 metres

HECTOR NZ – Pre-race blood sample. Broke stride during the early stages of the score up. After considering the recent record of the gelding, it was placed outside the mobile barrier draw. Held up in the early stages of the home straight before gaining clear running passing the 200 metres. Post-race swab sample.

VAN BASTEN – Worked forward to the lead passing the 1900 metres.

DOUGS PLATTER – Pre-race blood sample. Stewards questioned Driver Joshua Gallagher with regards to the performance of the gelding which finished in 8th placing beaten 18 metres. Mr Gallagher advised Stewards the gelding was having its first run back from a spell and although having had the one trial in preparation for tonight’s event he believed it would take improvement from the run. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities. After considering the explanation provided by Mr Gallagher, Stewards determined to note his comments.

NO HEART THROB NZ – Hung in under pressure in the early stages of the home straight. Stewards questioned Driver Bailey McDonough with regards to the performance of the gelding which tired over the concluding stages to finish in 6th placing beaten 10 metres. Mr McDonough advised stewards the gelding has come a long way in a short time since arriving in Australia and despite continuing to work well it may now be looking for a break. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities. After considering the explanation provided by Mr McDonough, Stewards determined to note his comments.

RACE 2 – BESTINBEDS.COM.AU PACE – 1609 metres

STAR MAJOR – Caught racing three wide in the early stages of the event before working forward to the position outside the leader passing the 900 metres.

TAIPO NZ – Pre-race blood sample. Worked forward to the lead passing the 1200 metres. Post-race swab sample.

JILLIBY SYLVESTER – Pre-race blood sample. Examined prior to and following the running of this event as the gelding had not competed in the previous 12 months. The examinations failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.

CAPTAINS KNOCK – Caught racing wide in the early stages of the event before working forward to the position outside the leader passing the 1100 metres.

RACE 3 – SUCCESS STUD PACE – 1609 metres

NICHOLAS CAGE NZ – Hung in between the 600 metres and the 400 metres.

DANCE AND DELIVER – Pre-race blood sample. Post-race swab sample.

MORE GOODA NZ – Pre-race blood sample.

CAULONIA COURAGE – Broke stride during the score up and as a result was out of position at the start. After considering the recent record of the gelding a warning was issued.

HESASHORETHING NZ – Stewards questioned Driver Bailey McDonough with regards to the tactics he adopted in the early stages of the event, in addition to the overall performance of the horse which finished in 10th placing beaten 47 metres. Mr McDonough advised Stewards he had been offered instructions by Trainer Jason Grimson to drive the horse forward and attempt to find the lead of the event, however when unable to cross HY POACTIVE he was left racing in the breeze and the horse to raced fiercely as a result of striking the foot rests of the sulky with its hocks. Mr McDonough further advised that between the 1200 metres and the 1000 metres he attempted to restrain HESASHORETHING NZ however the horse continued to improve to the outside of HY POACTIVE and as a result of its racing manners felt there was little more he could than just go with the horse. Mr McDonough further advised he was disappointed with the performance of the horse over the final 600 metres of the event however believed the horses racing manners contributed to the performance. A post-race veterinary examination of the horse failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities. After considering the explanation provided by Mr McDonough, Stewards determined to note his comments, however HESASHORETHING NZ was stood down until the completion of one requalifying trial as a result of its own racing manners.

RACE 4 – ULTRA AIR PACE – 2300 metres

SPECULATING – Pre-race blood sample. Post-race swab sample.

CAPTAIN RITCHIE – Pre-race blood sample. Broke stride approaching the 1000 metres as a result of the pace in the event slackening. After considering the recent record of the gelding a warning was issued.

JEWEL MELODY – Trainer Bernie Hewitt was reprimanded under Rule 41(1) for the late arrival of the mare at 5.59pm. Worked forward to the lead passing the 1900 metres.

RACE 5 – PRYDE’S EXCEPTIONAL ALWAYS PACE – 1609 metres

JILLIBY NITRO – Worked forward to the lead passing the 1100 metres. Post-race swab sample. Stewards questioned Trainer Peter Rixon with regards to the somewhat improved performance of the gelding this evening. Mr Rixon advised he felt the gelding had dropped back in grade for tonight’s event and had mapped to be in a forward position and was therefore confident of returning to its previous form. Mr Rixon further added at its most recent starts in higher grade, had been forced to go back from wider barriers and was unable to make ground over the concluding stages. After considering the explanation provided by Mr Rixon, Stewards determined to note his comments.

STRAVINSKY – Worked forward to the lead passing the 1000 metres.

DOUBLE ENCOUNTER – Pre-race blood sample. Examined prior to and following the running of this event as the gelding has competed in excess of 200 race starts. The examinations failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.

ROLL UP NZ – Pre-race blood sample.

L L COOL J NZ – Hung in during the latter stages of the score up and as a result was out of position at the start. After considering the recent record of the gelding, a warning was issued. 

RACE 6 – CLUB MENANGLE YAMAMOTO TROTTERS MILE (GROUP 3) – 1609 metres

TARENTAISE – Slow to begin.

RAZZLEME DAZZLEME – Broke after the start. After considering the recent record of the gelding, a warning was issued. Raced roughly passing the 1200 metres and lost ground. Inconvenienced when MILITARY MERIT broke stride passing the 500 metres.

ALDEBARAN JENSON – Pre-race blood sample.

HOT TO TROT NZ – Broke stride free of interference passing the 400 metres. After considering the recent record of the gelding a warning was issued.

TORO STRIDE NZ – Pre-race blood sample. Worked forward to the lead passing the 1300 metres. Raced roughly in the run to the first turn. Post-race swab sample.

MILITARY MERIT – Broke stride free of interference passing the 500 metres and inconvenienced RAZZLEME DAZZLEME. After considering the recent record of the colt a warning was issued.

RACE 7 – D M PLUMBING PACE – 1609 metres

DARK TERROR – Broke stride during the middle stages of the score up. After considering the recent record of the gelding a warning was issued.

RICKOSHAY – Pre-race blood sample.

MAJOR STATEMENT – Pre-race blood sample.

AMORE INFIDA NZ – Worked forward to the lead passing the 1300 metres. Post-race swab sample.

CORBIE STUMBLER – Held up in the early stages of the home straight before gaining clear running passing the 100 metres.

RACE 8 – IRT YOUR HORSE OUR PASSION TROTTERS MOBILE – 1609 metres

GAELIC LAD – Pre-race blood sample.

DOWN UNDER EARL – Pre-race blood sample. Broke stride during the latter stages of the score up and as a result was out of position at the start. After considering the recent record of the gelding, a warning was issued.

SUNNY GEE – Broke after the start. After considering the recent record of the gelding, a warning was issued.
