RACE 1 – FISHO’S RAFFLES EVERYFRIDAY 6.30PM @ CLUB PACEWAY PACE – 1720 metres

MEGS MONARO – Held up inside the final 200 metres.

TEAM OF STARZZZ – Underwent pre and post-race veterinary examinations due to the gelding having started in more than 200 races.  These examinations did not reveal any significant findings. 

LYNNSANITY – Held up inside the final 200 metres and as a result was not fully tested.  Driver Bryson Grima was spoken to advisedly regarding pursuing an inside run passing the 400 metres where in the opinion of the Stewards there was insufficient room approaching the final turn.

REIGN MAKER – Pre-race blood sample. 

TIMELY SOVEREIGN – Underwent pre and post-race veterinary examinations due to the gelding having started in more than 200 races.  These examinations did not reveal any significant findings.  Hung in under pressure passing the 200 metres.  Post-race swab sample.

 

RACE 2 – SKY RACING ACTIVE PACE – 1720 metres

KEILOR BABY SHARK – Broke during the score up and a warning was issued.  Hung out under pressure inside the final 200 metres.

POLKA DELIGHT NZ – Held up inside the final 200 metres.

POPS BOY – Broke during the score up resulting in a false start being declared.  In view of the gelding’s recent record POPS BOY will now be placed outside the mobile draw in future mobile start events.

ROCKET BOY – Held up inside the final 200 metres.

CAPTAIN BLOOD – Pre-race blood sample.  Held up rounding the final turn in the early part of the straight and prior to obtaining a clear run to the inside of KEILOR BABY SHARK which hung out under pressure.  Post-race swab sample.

SMIRKS LIKA BOSS – Held up inside the final 200 metres and various stages.

 

RACE 3 – KITE FESTIVAL PENRITH SHOWGROUND JULY 20 PACE – 1720 metres

LOCHART SHARD NZ – Checked passing the 600 metres when held up behind CLASSIC WATCH which commenced to tire.  The gelding was again held up during the early part of the home straight.

CLASSIC WATCH – Driver Cameron Hart was questioned regarding the tactics adopted on the mare, in particular his decision to maintain the lead during the early stages and the overall performance of CLASSIC WATCH.  Mr Hart explained that he was instructed to allow CLASSIC WATCH to progress forward after the start with the view of securing the lead in the early stages.  Mr Hart added that immediately after securing the lead CLASSIC WATCH commenced to over race and race fiercely and as a consequence CLASSIC WATCH in his view choked down over the concluding stages which resulted in CLASSIC WATCH tiring from the 500 metres onwards to finish in last placing.  Mr Hart further added that upon pulling at the completion of the event the mare was exhibiting signs consistent with his experience of a runner having choked down.  A post-race veterinary examination of CLASSIC WATCH failed to reveal no significant findings other than an elevated heart and respiratory rate.  Upon consideration of all the circumstances Stewards ordered that CLASSIC WATCH be required to trial to their satisfaction prior to racing again.

ROGERVALERIO LOMBO – Driver Sean Grayling was questioned regarding the performance of the gelding which finished in ninth placing beaten 41 metres ($4).  Mr Grayling explained that ROGERVALERIO LOMBO commenced to over race through the middle stages when positioned without cover which told on the gelding over the concluding stages.  A post-race veterinary examination of ROGERVALERIO LOMBO failed to reveal any significant findings.  Given the beaten margin (41 metres) a warning was issued.

AQUILA CASTELLO – Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed the gelding to have blood present in both nostrils.  In accordance with Rule 101(3)(a) AQUILA CASTELLO will now be stood down for the mandatory three month period, be required to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards and a veterinary clearance will be required to be tendered.

IDEAL REDEMPTION – Post-race swab sample.

APPLIED NZ – Pre-race blood sample.

 

RACE 4 – CHRISTMAS IN JULY CLUB PACEWAY JULY 11 PACE – 1720 metres

THE METAL FLYER – Pre-race blood sample.  Post-race swab sample.

WARIEDA BOY – Driver Will Rixon was questioned regarding the performance of the gelding which finished in seventh placing beaten 20 metres ($2.60).  Mr Rixon explained that in his view WARIEDA BOY was not suited to being positioned without cover throughout the event which combined with the fast overall mile rate (1:55.5) told on WARIEDA BOY over the concluding stages.  A post-race veterinary examination of WARIEDA BOY failed to reveal any significant findings.

MERRYWOOD PAUL – Galloped out and a warning was issued.

 

RACE 5 – HAPPY 70TH BIRTHDAY PAUL RYAN PACE – 2125 metres

YANKEE IDEAL – Pre-race blood sample.

RICKOSHAY – Post-race swab sample.

ITZMINEONTHELINE – Over raced during the middle stages.

DARK TERROR – Held up rounding the home turn in the early part of the home straight.

LOUS DREAM NZ – Driver Bryson Grima was questioned regarding the tactics adopted on the gelding in particular his decision to direct LOUS DREAM NZ to the marker pegs at the rear of the field shortly after passing the 2000 metres.  Mr Grima explained that he was instructed to drive LOUS DREAM NZ conservatively and save the gelding for one run as close to the finish if possible, consistent with how the gelding had been driven in its most recent starts.  Mr Grima added that in directing LOUS DREAM NZ to the marker pegs shortly after the start he was mindful that CAULONIA COURAGE, which secured the lead, would likely record a relatively fast time when leading as per its usual racing pattern and felt that LOUS DREAM NZ would be better suited to being positioned on the marker pegs in those circumstances.  Mr Grima further added that rounding the final turn he directed LOUS DREAM NZ wider in an endeavour to secure clear running however the gelding improved marginally to the inside of YANKEE IDEAL against his efforts approaching the 200 metres where LOUS DREAM NZ was inconvenienced when Mr Grima was obliged to stead the gelding in order to continue to direct LOUS DREAM NZ wider which resulted in the gelding losing momentum at a vital stage.  Mr Grima added that upon directing LOUS DREAM NZ to the extreme outside shortly after straightening the gelding finished the race off in a promising fashion.  Upon consideration of the explanation provided and noting Mr Grima’s inexperience Stewards did not take the matter any further, however advised Mr Grima that he should always endeavour to not make decisions during the early stages of a race which may inhibit a runner’s opportunities to improve into the race at a later stage and advised him in these circumstances he would have been better served remaining in the two wide line which would allow him to be able to follow the forward movement of any other runner positioned forward in the field.

 

RACE 6 – HRNSW GUARANTEED LADYSHIP PACE – 1720 metres

PLAY SOUTHERNLAND – Paced roughly shortly after the start.

WEENEEDDREAMS – Fractious during the initial stage of the score up, reared and swung sideways resulting in a false start being declared.  A warning was placed on the record of WEENEEDDREAMS.

A LOT OF LUVIN – Post-race swab sample.

PLAYFUL MISS – Pre-race blood sample.  Inconvenienced shortly after the start when WEENEEDDREAMS paced roughly.

 

RACE 7 – BEATS BREWS & BBQ JULY 13 & 14 PENRITH SHOWGROUND PACE – 2125 metres

WOODLEA BEAVER NZ – Pre-race blood sample.  Post-race swab sample.

RUM DELIGHT NZ – Underwent pre and post-race veterinary examinations due to the gelding having started in more than 200 races.  These examinations did not reveal any significant findings. 

CLEMENTSORRELL – Underwent pre and post-race veterinary examinations due to the gelding having started in more than 200 races.  These examinations did not reveal any significant findings.  Driver David Morris was questioned regarding the tactics adopted on the gelding in particular his decision to commence to improve three wide approaching the 1200 metres which ultimately resulted in CLEMENTSORRELL being positioned three wide without cover thereafter.  Mr Morris explained that he was instructed to obtain a forward position if possible which he was initially somewhat successful in securing, however due to the forward movement of other runners CLEMENTSORRELL was shuffled further back in the field than intended.  Mr Morris added that in light of the slow speed during the early stages and CLEMENTSORRELL in his lacking view high speed he directed the gelding three wide approaching the 1200 metres in order to secure a more forward position however upon improving to the outside of SARGE which was occupying the position outside the leader it was apparent this would not occur.  Upon consideration upon of all the circumstances Stewards took the matter no further and noted Mr Morris’ explanation.

RIP JACKSON – Held up inside the final 200 metres and as a result was not fully tested.

 

RACE 8 – PENRITH SHOW TICKETS ON SALE JULY 1 PACE – 2125 metres

IMA SHINKANSEN – Obtained an inside run over the concluding stages when CARIBBEAN RUNA hung out under pressure.  Post-race swab sample.

WAR WESTERN – Over raced during the middle stages.

CARIBBEAN RUNA – Pre-race blood sample.  Hung out under pressure against the efforts of its driver inside the final 200 metres.

BETTER HARLEY – Out of position at the start against the efforts of its driver and a warning was issued.  Sustained a flat off side tyre over the concluding stages which proved to the gelding’s detriment.

OURSURFINSAFARI – Inconvenienced during the score up due to CARIBBEAN RUNA being unable to fully secure its position.

 

RACE 9 – TAB VENUE MODE NSW BRED TWO YEAR OLD HEAT – 1720 metres

MISS RAVISHING – Pre-race blood sample.  Post-race swab sample.

MARCENT – Over raced during the early and middle stages.

LOCKITINEDDY – Hung out under pressure over the final 400 metres.
