RACE 1 – THE TAB APP PACE – 1730 metres

KNOW THE SCORE – Pre-race blood.  Post-race swab.

PUPPETEER – Driver B Medlyn was questioned on his tactics from the 1400 metres to the 1200 metres in particular the reason he lost the position one out one back in the early stages. He stated passing the 1400 metres he applied the whip to PUPPETEER in an attempt urge him forward to fill the position in the running line. He further added the gelding was slow to respond but had erred by not driving with some more urgency as he didn`t think any runner would shift from the marker line to fill the position one out one back. Stewards noted his comments but advised Mr Medlyn to drive in a more competitive manner in future.

QUESTRO QUEEN NZ – Had a tendency to shift out under pressure in the home straight on the final occasion.

RACE 2 – BARKERS BUTCHERY PAC E- 1730 metres

ROMERO – Pre-race blood.

SMOOTH OVERARM NZ – ($2.80 fav) Driver A Delosa was queried on the overall performance of the gelding where he failed to run on over the concluding stages and finish in sixth position beaten 10.8 metres.  Miss Delosa stated that although racing outside the leader was very disappointed in how the gelding had finished the race off.  She further added that the stable believed the gelding to be racing below par  in recent starts.

HYDEEHO NZ – Post-race swab.

RACE 3 – KNICKERBOCKER HOTEL CLUB MENANGLE WARATAH HEAT – 1730 metres

KARINYA GILL – Had a tendency to hang out throughout the race.  Driver J Turnbull was questioned on the overall performance of the gelding where it appeared KARINYA GILL to be reluctant to take the run to the inside of MERAKI in the home straight on the final occasion.  J Turnbull stated the gelding hung out throughout the race which is uncharacteristic on recent starts, when attempting to utilise the sprint lane in the home straight on the final occasion KARINYA GILL was hanging out under pressure and proved difficult to drive in the home straight.  Due to the gelding’s racing manners a warning would be placed on its record.

WATTOSBLAZEOFGLORY – Pre-race blood.

MERAKI – Post-race swab.

RACE 4 – HYNASH CONSTRUCTIONS PACE – 1730 metres

RACING TIME – Held up for clear racing room until the final 150 metres.

THERESA LOVE NZ – Had a tendency to shift out under pressure in the home straight on the final occasion.

TERRYRAMA – Trainer M Hutchings was queried on the perceived improved market expectations of the gelding.  He stated the gelding had been given a short freshen up following a disappointing run at Parkes on 12 June 2024 and with the racing being run with a solid tempo throughout which is how the gelding races best contributing to the improved performance.  Post-race swab.

WATCHMEDAZZLE – Driver J Turnbull was queried on the overall performance of the gelding when failing to run on over the concluding stages to finish in sixth position beaten 10.2 metres.  He stated he was slightly disappointed although the tempo of the race being reasonably fast throughout and with the gelding being up in grade now, he is finding it difficult to finish races off as in the past.

CAMANCHI WARRIOR – Pre-race blood.  Trainer/driver N Turnbull was queried on the overall performance of the gelding where it tired over the final 300 metres to finish in seventh and last position beaten 54.6 metres.  He stated that with the gelding being first up since a long spell and the solid tempo of the race proved detrimental to the overall performance of the horse.  A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

RACE 5 – BLINDS BY DESIGN PACE – 1730 metres

MOHAWK PARK – Broke stride in the latter stages of the score up and as a result was out of position at the start.  A warning was issued.  Due to the distance lost while breaking stride the gelding tailed the field for the entire race.

BRIDGE ON FIRE – Leaving the 300 metres was tightened when placed in restricted racing room when THE BLACK FOX had shifted out when insufficiently clear.

THE BLACK FOX – Driver I Ross was issued with a reprimand under rule 163(1)(a)(iii) in that when leaving the 300 metres has shifted her runner off the back of the tiring TULHURST JANET when insufficiently clear of BRIDGE ON FIRE placing that runner in restricted racing room.
