After obtaining further evidence from J Hughes, the driver of MAGIC SHOOS, relative to the charge laid against B Hughes, the driver of MONTANA NIGHTS, under NSWLR162(1)(u) and considering further submissions in relation to the material extent of the interference caused to MAGIC SHOOS and other runners, B Hughes was advised that the charge against him would be sustained, however taking into account the particular circumstances of this case a reprimand was issued as penalty. Mr B Hughes was further advised that his tendency to ease race tempo dramatically was a factor of his driving that was continually coming to notice and his actions in this regard must improve.

She said that after this the gelding failed to travel at any stage and was under pressure inside the 700 metres. She further said despite her constant vigorous efforts, LYDIAS ART NZ was unresponsive and disappointing in the run to the finish and in her opinion the gelding is best suited when able to obtain the lead without undue pressure. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
CATCHINGCONFIDENCE – Pre-race blood sample.
SAINT KARAMARA – Driver J Coney was fined $50 under Rule 162(1)(j), for failing to drive the mare into position at the start.

K Elliot, the Driver of GLENN FORD NZ was reprimanded under Rule 16391)(a)(iii), for failing to make sufficient attempt to prevent her drive from shifting into the path of NIGHTWATCH STAR passing the 600 metres resulting in NIGHTWATCH STAR having to be checked and breaking stride.

He said after he regained control IM FREYJA failed to travel and weakened noticeably inside the 700 metres which he attributed to the mares tendency to over race in the early stages. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Connections were advised that prior to racing again IM FREYJA must perform competitively in an official qualifying trial.

He said that if recovery was satisfactory COUNTRY MAJOR would be nominated to race at Tamworth 26/7/24.

She said at this point she elected to drive forward following SPIRIT KING to a position outside the lead, however when that runner crossed to the lead PARATROUPER was driven with urgency on its outside which precluded her from obtaining that position and obliged her to restrain to the tail of the field to obtain cover. She said that after this the mare travelled relatively well and when placed under pressure inside the 400m responded, however the circumstances in the early and middle stages were not conducive to it producing a strong finishing effort. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
