MOWHAWK PARK – Approaching the 400 metres once the ear plugs were pulled the gelding shifted up the track locking wheels with OUR GLADIATOR, as a result made contact with the sulky and broke stride.  A warning was issued.

A LIL BIT OF LOVE – Post-race swab.

DARED TO DREAM – Leaving the 500 metres had tendency to hang out under pressure.  A warning was issued.

RACE 2 – COWRA FREIGHT PACE – 1700 metres

PEAKSART – Inconvenienced at the 1300 metres when improving onto the back of IDEAL TAO

ARTISTIC TROUBLE – Driver W Cassell was queried into the performance of the gelding who tired over the concluding 500 metres to finish in tenth and last position beaten 73 metres.  He could give no reasonable explanation for the poor performance.  He further added the stable would monitor the gelding’s track work to ensure he is more competitive prior to racing again.  ARTISTIC TROUBLE will be given its last chance to race truly.

LIMBO LENNY – Post-race swab.

ALICE ON THE BEACH – Pre-race blood.

PRINCE PARKER – Driver T Osmond was queried on the overall performance of the gelding when it failed to run on over the concluding stages to finish in ninth position beaten 71 metres.  Miss Osmond stated that having to race three wide in the early stages with the tempo being fast she was unable to muster enough speed to obtain the position outside the leader and was obliged to restrain to the tail of the field and then when placed under pressure over the concluding stages the gelding failed to respond.  PRINCE PARKER will be given its last chance to race truly.

SCARLET BLING – Inconvenienced at the 1300 metres when improving onto the back of PEAKSART who had also been inconvenienced.

CANDI – Driver J Reynolds was queried on the tactics adopted and the overall performance of the mare that failed to run on over the concluding stages to finish in sixth position beaten 36 metres.  He stated trainer J Lew was expecting a forward showing but thought it would be advantageous to race in a forward position on the smaller half mile track.  When leaving the 1200 metres elected to shift out to a three wide position to follow PRINCE PARKER but when doing so PRINCE PARKER’S driver grabbed hold of that runner to restrain and as a result shifted his runner four wide in an attempt to progress forward but when doing so the mare failed to respond and was very one paced over the final 600 metres to be very disappointing.

RACE 3 – CHARLIE MUDDLE MEMORIAL – 1700 metres

MISS BLUE STORK – Pre-race blood.  Driver J Reynolds was queried on the overall performance of the filly who failed to run on over the concluding stages to finish in ninth and last position.  He could give no reasonable explanation for the poor performance.

BONDI LASS – Checked between the 450 metres and the 150 metres when trailing MISS BLUE STORK who was yielding ground.

MISS PENDLE HILL – Checked between the 450 metres and the 250 metres when trailing BONDI LASS.

A DUSTY DANCE – Worked forward three wide from the 1400 metres, when unable to obtain the position outside the leader was obliged to race three wide until yielding ground over the final 500 metres to finish in 10th and last position beaten 70.6 metres. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

At a subsequent inquiry  Driver O Frisby pleaded guilty to a charge under rule 149(2) when leaving the 1400 metres has left a favourable one out one back position in an attempt to obtain the position outside the leader when it was reasonable to expect that position to not be available. When unable to obtain that position she then continued to apply pressure to the leaders without giving her runner any respite until tiring over the final 400 metres. Stewards considered Ms Frisby`s guilty plea, her record in relation to this rule. Her licence to drive in races was suspended for a period of four(4) weeks. This suspension is commence midnight the 20th September 2024.

TULHURST TERROR – A pre and post-race veterinary examination were conducted as the gelding has had over 200 race starts.  No abnormalities were detected on either examination.

HELLO I TEA – Driver B Micallef was queried on the mare’s overall performance.  He stated that the mare was slightly disappointing but believes it did not handle the smaller track as expected.

GABBYS SPORTSTAR – A pre and post-race veterinary examination were conducted as the gelding has had over 200 race starts.  No abnormalities were detected on either examination.  Post-race swab.

SPECIAL SPIN – Pre-race blood.

A MAJOR STAR – Trainer/driver N Turnbull was queried on the overall performance of the gelding when failing to run on over the concluding stages to finish in tenth and last position beaten 61.9 metres.  He stated since the gelding joined the stable he has been inconsistent when unable to lead. From a second row barrier draw and racing three wide in the early stages there was no opportunity to work forward in an attempt to find the lead and as such failed to run on over the concluding stages.

RACE 7 – COWRA BOWLING CLUB CUP – 2160 metres

FRONTIER – Tired over the concluding stages to finish in tenth and last position beaten 110.9 metres.  Ms Turnbull stated it was the gelding’s first start for the stable and from a favourable barrier draw elected to drive the horse in a forward position which was against its normal race pattern and may have been detrimental to the overall performance.  A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.  The gelding will be stood down for one requalifying trial.

LIMBO LILLY – Post-race swab.

NOSAER – Pre-race blood.

IM BELIEBER – Driver M Hardy was fined the sum of $50 under rule 162(1)(j) for failing to maintain its position behind the mobile barrier prior to the start.  Leaving the 700 metres was inconvenienced when improving onto the back of NOSAER
