RACE 1 – NSW BREEDERS CHALLENGE 3YO COLTS AND GELDINGS HEAT – ROUND 1 – 1730 metres

The all clear was delayed to ascertain when NOVANTA RISING broke stride over the concluding 50 metres had gained any advantage when crossing the line in the incorrect gait. After reviewing the available race day footage, it was concluding when NOVANTA RISING broke stride inside the final 50 metres, Driver B Hewitt had fulfilled his obligations by restraining the gelding at his earliest opportunity and had not gained any advantage over any other runner when crossing the line in the incorrect gait and as a result all clear was declared on the judges numbers of 1 – 8 – 7 – 3.

ROCKU – Driver J O’Shea was fined $200 under Rule 156(2)(a) in that when applying his whip in the home straight on the final occasion he has done so with more than a wrist flicking action. Post-race swab sample.

KICK THE SWITCH –Passing the 1400 metres became unbalanced and broke stride. The gelding was given its last chance to race truly.

NOVANTA RISING – Pre-race blood sample. Broke stride under pressure in the final 50 metres. A warning was issued.

LIMBO LENNY – Tired over the concluding stages to finish in 10th and last position beaten 59.2 metres. A warning was issued.

 

RACE 2 – MOORHEAD CRANES PACE – 1730 metres

MIA ON – Pre-race blood sample.

TULHURST TERROR – A pre and post-race veterinary examination was conducted as the gelding has had over 200 race starts. No abnormalities were detected on either examination.

HAPPY REG – Had a tendency to hang out shortly after the start.

LUCKY ZARA – Slightly inconvenienced after the start when HAPPY REG hung out.

FOUR STAR LINCOLN - Slightly inconvenienced after the start when HAPPY REG hung out. At the request of connections, the horse will be placed back in the mobile barrier draw in future starts.

VAMOS – post-race swab sample.

LINE DANCE – Driver J Coney was issued a reprimand under Rule 163(c)(ii) in that leaving the 300 metres he allowed his runner to contact a number of marker pegs.

 

 

RACE 3 – NSW BREEDERS CHALLENGE 3YO COLTS AND GELDINGS HEAT – ROUND 1 – 1730 metres

ROYAL CRUISER – Pre-race blood sample. Post-race swab sample.

KNOW THE SCORE – Trainer M Rue was fined $100 under Rule 273(6)(a) for presenting his runner with the incorrect saddle cloth number.

ROCK STEADY – Broke stride shortly after the start. A warning was issued.

 

RACE 4 – THE 2024 BILL KLOWER MEMORIAL – 1730 metres

BETTORS HOPE – Pre-race blood sample.

HUNTER SHANNON – Driver T Bullock was cautioned on his continuous whip use in the home straight on the final occasion.

WATCHMEDAZZLE – After working forward to the lead at the 1100 metres,  over raced for the remainder of the event.

SMOOTH BUZZ – Post-race swab sample.

 

RACE 5 – BARKERS BUTCHERY OBERON SPRINT WARATAH HEAT – 1730 metres

MAMMALS ALIBI – Pre-race blood sample. Post-race swab sample.

KING TINTIN – At the request of connections a pre-race warm up was approved. Hung in under pressure over the final 50 metres making contact with the sulky wheel of MAMMALS ALIBI inside the final 20 metres.

REBOUNDER – Held up for clear racing room in the run to the finish and not fully tested.

GWENYTH P NZ – Held up for clear racing room in the run to the finish and was not fully tested.

 

RACE 6 – NSW BREEDERS CHALLENGE 3YO FILLIES HEAT – ROUND ONE – 1730 metres

PLATINUM JEWEL – Pre-race blood sample. Post-race swab sample.

MY BULA BUS – Trainer/ Driver N Day was queried on the overall performance of the filly when failing to run on over the concluding stages to finish in 9th position beaten 19.5 metres. Mr Day stated when racing three wide in the early stages he elected to restrain when DIVINE GIRL (A Turnbull) had found the position outside the leader as he believed that position would not be available. Then with the fast last half of the race (56.1) it proved difficult to make ground over the concluding stages.

 

RACE 7 – RELAINCE BANK PACE – 1730 metres

VALENTINI – Held up for clear racing room in the early stages of the home straight.

COOP DE RED – Pre-race blood sample. Trainer/Driver N Day was queried on the overall performance of the gelding when it failed to run on over the concluding stages to finish in 9th position beaten 33.3 metres. Mr Day stated after doing more work than expected to find the lead, the gelding sustained pressure throughout the event which proved detrimental to the overall performance of the gelding.

SONNY WRITER – Approaching the 500 metres became unbalanced and broke stride. A warning was issued.

MUDSLINGER MONTY NZ – Raced roughly shortly after the start. The gelding will continue to be placed outside the mobile barrier draw in future starts. Tired over the final 600 metres to finish in 10th and last position beaten 109.1 metres. The gelding will be required to requalify on one occasion prior to racing. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

DUTY OF CARE – Driver L Rando was fined $50 under Rule 162(1)(j) for failing to maintain his position behind the mobile barrier arm prior to the start. Post-race swab sample.

CAPTAIN JACK – A pre and post-race veterinary examination was conducted as the gelding has not raced since the 1 February 2023.

 

RACE 8 – BOURKES HORSE RUGS PACE – 2260 metres

COOL DUDE JOEY – Pre-race blood sample.

OUTRAGEOUS REBEL – Approaching the 1800 metres was inconvenienced when trailing ZACHARY SHANNON who had broken stride.

ZACHARY SHANNON – Approaching the 1800 metres became unbalanced and broke stride. A warning was issued.

ARTFUL PRINCE – Approaching the 1800 metres was inconvenienced when shifting wider to avoid ZACHARY SHANNON who had broken stride.

THE BLACK FOX - Approaching the 1800 metres was inconvenienced when shifting wider to avoid ZACHARY SHANNON who had broken stride.

RENDEZVOUS – Trainer B McDonough was queried on the perceived improved performance of the gelding. He stated it was the first run for the gelding since entering his stable and he had freshened the gelding where he appears to race best. He was not overly confident as the geldings track work had only been average leading into tonight’s race.  He further added that on recent starts the gelding may be slightly down in grade. Post-race swab sample.

GABBYS SPORTSTAR – A pre and post-race veterinary examination was conducted as the gelding has had over 200 race starts. No abnormalities were detected on either examination. Driver J Coney was queried on the overall performance of the gelding which failed to run on over the concluding stages and finished in 6th position beaten 13.2 metres. Mr Coney stated it was not the intention to lead the event but after beginning well from the second row draw he elected to work forward to the lead when that position was available and although having an easy run was disappointing over the concluding stages.

 

RACE 9 – THE TAB APP 2YO PACE – 1730 metres

DEAR DARLING – Pre-race blood sample.

HOMEBOUND – Post-race swab sample.

SMOOTH AKUBRA – Hug out after the start and then continued to hang out throughout the event before tiring over the concluding stages to finish in 10th and last position beaten 92 metres. The filly will be required to requalify on one occasion prior to racing again. Trainer S Turnbull further stated the filly will be going for a spell and as such was stood down for a period of 28 days.

WINDY HILL WHISKEY – Turning into the back straight on the final occasion had a tendency to hang in and contact marker pegs.
