RACE 1 – SKY RACING ACTIVE PACE – 2030 metres

VERY NEEDY – Placed in restricted racing room entering the first turn and raced roughly for a short distance.

HEEZ REASONABLE – Pre-race sample was taken.  Gave ground over the concluding stages to be beaten some distance.

OUR CHIQUITITA – When questioned regarding the level of vigour shown over the concluding stages driver C Formosa explained it was instructions from connections that the mare resents the whip somewhat and she opted to rein up over the concluding stages.  In terms of the performance C Formosa explained after having to do work in the early stages of the event to find the position in the lead was left somewhat wanting over the concluding stages.  Instructions were confirmed by trainer J Grimson.  Stewards noted her comments. 

DE LA RENTA NZ – Driver B Lindsay was reprimanded under rule 163(1)(c)(i) in that when rounding the turn into the home straight on the first occasion contacted a number of marker pegs.  When questioned regarding the performance driver B Lindsay explained that after having to be restrained to the rear of the field in the early stages of the event when caught wide failed to travel genuinely from that point and was overall disappointing.  Connections were advised that it would be issued with a warning for its performance.

THOMAS ROYAL – Post-race sample was taken.

NEXT TO ME NZ – Pre-race sample was taken. 

 

RACE 2 – BAROSTOC WARATAH HEAT – 1609 metres

FAR OUT RINGO – Post-race sample was taken.

THE CREEK – Pre-race urine sample was collected.  Locked wheels momentarily as the field raced down the home straight for the run to the finish with SAINT KARAMARA.

ABSTRACT ART – Held up for clear running in the early stages of the run to the finish.

THE MIGHTY MONDO NZ – Broke stride as the field entered the first turn.  A warning was issued.

SAINT KARAMARA – Momentarily locked wheels with THE CREEK racing down the home straight for the run to the finish.

 

RACE 3 – SKYFALL ESTATE PACE – 1609 metres

FIRST CLASS NZ – Driver B Grima was reminded of his obligations to be in position as the start was affected in being caught somewhat flat footed in the early stages of the score up.  When questioned regarding the performance B Grima explained that in the early stages of the event was somewhat caught wide in an attempt to find a position with cover forward in the field.  He added that he was obliged to restrain to the rear of the field and given how the race was run was unable to get into the event however was not overly disappointed. 

ROUGE BLING – Pre-race sample was taken.  Driver T Brown was reminded of his obligations to be on the mobile as the start was affected after being left flat footed in the early stages of the score up resulting in him being out of position.

OUR IDEAL DREAM NZ – Post-race sample was taken.

 

RACE 4 – GARRARDS HORSE AND HOUND PACE – 1609 metres

SIR SIMON – Post-race sample was taken.

HEAVENLY HOLLY – Pre-race sample was taken. 

MAN FROM BRAAVOS – When questioned regarding the performance driver J Taaffe explained that although it was under pressure a long way from home the tempo in the event at that stage was quite quick and was pleased with how his runner finished off the event.  Stewards noted his comments.

WAYOUTWEST – Driver G Panella was fined the sum of $50 under rule 162(1)(h) for failing to come up into position prior to the start being affected.

 

RACE 5 – NSW BREEDERS CHALLENGE 3YO COLTS AND GELDINGS HEAT – ROUND 1 – 1609 metres

DRAGON – Pre-race sample was taken. 

PARADISE POINT – When questioned regarding the performance driver T Ison explained that after being caught wide in the early stages of the event was obliged to be restrained to the rear of the field and with the quick mile rate was unable to get into the event however was not overly disappointed in the performance. 

IRON CLAD – Post-race sample was taken.

GUNFORHIRE – Tightened for racing room shortly after entering the home straight for the run to the finish when racing to the inside of CABANA which shifted back down the track slightly and in turn ALWAYS BE CHAPS which was along the marker pegs shifting up the track slightly and as a result was hampered and raced roughly for a short distance.

 

RACE 6 – NSW BREEDERS CHALLENGE 3YO FILLIES HEAT – ROUND 1 – 1609 metres

ZENALOU – Broke stride in the middle stages of the score up and was out of position as the start was affected.  A warning was issued.  Checked and broke stride as the field negotiated the first turn. 

LUVARESCHS – Pre-race sample was taken. 

PURE DRAGON – Driver B Hughes pleaded guilty to a charge under rule 163(1)(a)(iii) in that when racing over the concluding stages permitted his runner to shift wider on the track without the required clearance over BOLERO and as a result that runner was checked and raced roughly.  Driver B Hughes’ licence to drive in races was suspended for a period of 14 days.  When considering penalty Stewards took into account his guilty plea in addition to his record in relation to interference.

DOLCE DRAMA – Broke stride as the field entered the first turn.  A warning was issued.

 

RACE 7 – HRNSW GUARANTEED LADYSHIP PACE – 1609 metres

IDEAL HEAVEN – Weakened over the concluding stages to be beaten a considerable distance.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.  Connections were advised given the performance it will be required to requalify on one occasion.

GO OH MICKY NZ – Pre-race sample was taken.  Driver B Grima was fined the sum of $50 under rule 162(1)(h) for failing to come up into position prior to the start being affected.  Post-race sample was taken.

 

RACE 8 – TOOHEYS PACE – 1609 metres

ARCTIC BEAST – Broke stride shortly after the start was affected.  A warning was issued.  Hampered as the field raced down the home straight on the final occasion.

MY ULTIMATE COSSIE – Pre-race sample was taken.

OHWHATIWOULDGIVE – After obtaining an inside run down the home straight on the final occasion hung out and checked the running of TOUGH TALKS which broke stride.  Connections were advised it would be placed on its last chance to race truly.  Post-race sample was taken.

SHADOW ECLIPSE – Examined pre and post-race by the veterinarian with no abnormalities reported.

TOUGH TALKS – Checked and broke stride inside the 100 metres.

HE SAID SHE SAID – Checked down the home straight on the final occasion.

DIDSHEDOIT NZ – Broke stride in the early stages of the score up.  A warning was issued.  Had a tendency to over race in the early and middle stages of the event.  When questioned regarding the performance driver T Ison explained that it had a tendency to over race in the early and middle stages of the event when asked for an effort over the concluding stages failed to respond and was somewhat disappointing over the concluding stages.

 

RACE 9 – AVE TECHNOLOGY PACE – 1609 metres

DOUBLE SAID – Had a tendency to hang in slightly rounding the first turn and broke stride.  Connections were advised given its recent record it will be stood down until it can requalify on one occasion.

JUNGLE JIVE – Pre-race sample was taken.  Post-race sample was taken.

BETTATHANMOZARELLA – Had a tendency to over race throughout the early and middle stages and contacted a number of marker pegs when hanging in.

ULTIMATE DIVA – Hung in and broke stride as the field left the back straight on the final occasion.  Connections were advised given its recent record it will be stood down until it can requalify on one occasion.
