RACE 1 – SANDRA PENNING PACE – 1720 metres
GOLLY GEE FELLAS – Pre-race blood samples were obtained. Post-race swab samples were obtained.
BARNSTORMER NZ – Commenced to weaken from the 300 metres and tired over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off fore leg. Adopting the veterinary recommendations BARNSTORMER NZ was stood down for a period of seven days until a veterinary certificate of fitness is submitted.
DEBONAIRE – Broke gait for a short distance as the start was affected. DEBONAIRE was placed on its last chance in the mobile barrier draw.
WEONA SIR VIVOR – Improved three wide during the middle stages before crossing to the positon outside of the leader near the 800 metres.
DILETTO – Leaving the 150 metres was checked and held up behind the tiring BARNSTORMER NZ. Passing the 100 metres DILETTO then obtained clear running.
PALATINO NZ – Leaving the 400 metres was inclined to lay in and contacted marker pegs. Unable to secure clear running at any stage in the home straight and was not fully tested.
RACE 2 – STEVE BROWN PACE – 2125 metres
POLKA DELIGHT NZ – Pre-race blood samples were obtained.
GREY CADILLAC – Raced three wide in the middle stages before crossing to the position outside of the leader near the 1600 metres.
TIMELY SOVEREIGN – Underwent a pre and post-race veterinary examination as per HRNSW animal welfare guidelines. No abnormalities were detected.
MAID OF MONEY NZ – Unable to secure clear running until passing the 100 metres. Post-race swab samples were obtained.
WEAREALLALONE – Unable to secure clear running until leaving the 100 metres.
RACE 3 – BILLY LYON REMEMBERANCE – 2125 metres
HEAVENLY REASON – Pre-race blood samples were obtained.
PLANET DOWNS – Passing the 700 metres hung in and contacted marker pegs.
MISTER JONES NZ – Broke gait in the early stages of the score up. A warning was issued. Raced three wide in the early stages before working forward to the lead. Tired over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. When questioned driver J Farrugia explained that he had been instructed to allow MISTER JONES NZ to display its gate speed and if possible cross to the lead. He added that trainer S Farrugia had explained that if he was beaten for early speed then he was to look to take cover. J Farrugia explained that immediately after the start he did endeavour to find the lead however was beaten for early speed by HEAVENLY REASON and PLANET DOWNS but elected to continue to work forward three wide in hope that he would be obtain the lead. He added that with the benefit of hindsight he would have been better served to take cover once it became apparent that runners drawn to his inside had commenced well and the tempo was solid. After considering all available evidence driver J Farrugia was advised that he had erred by overdoing his tactics in the early stages however given his relative inexperience in that he was only having his seventh race drive, Stewards took no direct action and advised him to always drive in a manner that displays judgement and initiative.
JAKCAM FLYER – Post-race swab samples were obtained.
RACE 4 – GRAHAM CAVILL MEMORIAL – 1720 metres
DESIDERIO – Pre-race blood samples were obtained.
ITS DOWN TO DIGGER – Raced three wide in the early stages before working forward to the position outside of the leader near the 1400 metres.
POPS BOY – Post-race swab samples were obtained.
RACE 5 – COL EVANS MEMORIAL – 1720 metres
FIRST CLASS NZ – Post-race swab samples were obtained.
HEAVENLY BELLE – Pre-race blood samples were obtained.
MERRYWOOD PAUL – Broke gait at the start and lost significant ground. In view of its recent record connections were advised that MERRYWOOD PAUL would now be excluded from the mobile barrier draw. Unable to secure clear running over the concluding stages and was not fully tested.
RACE 6 – STEVE BABICH MEMORIAL – 1720 metres
WHY NOT SURF – Inclined to over race when racing behind the leader.
NOTMUCHUPTOP – Inclined to hang in leaving the 700 metres and commenced to give ground sharply. Then, when correcting NOTMUCHUPTOP the gelding hung out and shifted ground slightly which caused NOTMUCHUPTOP to lock wheels with MIZZZ ADELE which was improving to its outside and subsequently both runners were severely checked. A post-race veterinary examination of NOTMUCHUPTOP revealed no obvious abnormalities. Connections were advised that NOTMUCHUPTOP would be stood down from racing until it can complete one satisfactory trial for what was deemed to be an inconsistent and unsatisfactory performance.
SHARK DANCER – Post-race swab samples were obtained.
KATLAS DREAM – Caught wide in the early stages before working forward.
THE MALDIVES – Underwent a pre and post-race veterinary examination as per HRNSW animal welfare guidelines. No abnormalities were detected.
MIZZZ ADELE – Hampered by the weakening NOTMUCHUPTOP leaving the 700 metres shifted out to improve past that runner then approaching the 600 metres laid in slightly at the same time NOTMUCHUPTOP shifted out and subsequently both runners locked wheels which caused MIZZZ ADELE to be severely checked.
MADAZALWAYS – Passing the 600 metres made contact with the rear of the sulky of NOTMUCHUPTOP which had locked wheels with MIZZZ ADELE and subsequently MADAZALWAYS was severely checked and broke gait.
SKYE MARY MAC NZ – Pre-race blood samples were obtained.
RACE 7 – CHRIS GREENWOOD PACE – 1720 metres
OUR THUNDER – Checked in the score up by PLAY SOUTHERNLAND which veered in however OUR THUNDER was in position at the start. Passing the 500 metres shifted out in order to improve three wide and as a result FOR THREE REASONS was placed in restricted room and taken out towards EYEKNOW which caused EYEKNOW to have to be steadied away from the wheel of FOR THREE REASONS. Driver B McDonough was advised to exercise greater care when shifting ground in similar circumstances in future.
PLAY SOUTHERNLAND – Pre-race blood samples were obtained. Hung in and veered in during the early stages of the score up. A warning was issued. Unable to secure clear running until passing the 75 metres.
FOR THREE REASONS – Passing the 500 metres was placed in restricted room by OUR THUNDER which shifted out. Leaving the 400 metres FOR THREE REASONS shifted out under pressure causing EYEKNOW to be inconvenienced.
DELIGHTFUL BELLA – Unable to secure clear running until passing the 50 metres.
EYEKNOW – Leaving the 500 metres had to be steadied and shifted wider to avoid FOR THREE REASONS which had been taken up the track by OUR THUNDER. Passing the 400 metres EYEKNOW had to be steadied away from FOR THREE REASONS which shifted out under pressure.
PEACE OF HEAVE NZ – Post-race swab samples were obtained.
RACE 8 – LEN LAVENDER PACE – 1720 metres
CARIBBEAN RUNA – Unable to secure clear running over the concluding stages and was not fully tested.
SQUADRON – Post-race swab samples were obtained.
TIGERS INVASION – Raced three wide in the early stages before crossing to the positon outside of the leader near the 1300 metres.
OLLIE ONE SHOT – Pre-race blood samples were obtained. Unable to secure clear running at any stage in the home straight and was not fully tested.
JUST HOME GROWN NZ – Inclined to hang in when negotiating the first turn.
PRINCE LOUIE – Caught wide in the early stages and then worked forward however was unable to cross to the running line to find the position outside of the leader until passing the 1000 metres.
