RACE 3 – BREED YOUR MARE AT SUCCESS STUD PACE – 2260 metres

GUNFORHIRE – Trainer/Driver R Alchin was given the opportunity to comment on the below market expectations performance of the gelding, he stated that while he was somewhat disappointed with its run, it is a 3YO racing against older horses in tonight’s run and he felt it was up in grade in comparison to its most recent starts. He added that he felt the pace was fairly quick from the 1200 metres which may have taken a toll on his runner.

REBOUNDER – Tightened for room after the start when SPECIAL SPIN shifted in. Inconvenienced leaving the 1000 metres when the pace eased, as a result MISTERFOURTHOUSAND contacted its sulky wheel.

POLKA DELIGHT NZ – Driver R Morris was given the opportunity to comment on the below market expectations performance of the mare, he stated that he was somewhat disappointed with her effort, particularly after he asked her for an effort upon straightening when she didn’t respond. He added she is racing in reasonably strong races with her rating and the stable has been using concessional Driver claims in an attempt to enable her to compete in slightly lower grade recently however tonight they hadn’t needed to, to get into this race. He further added that the longer distance of tonight’s race may not suit her. R Morris added the stable would look to alter her work in an endeavour to get her to race more competitively.

TENACITY RED – J Wade was permitted as a late replacement Driver for D Davis of the filly. Broke gait during the score-up and a false start was declared, given it was the filly’s second race start connections were advised that it would be placed outside the draw for future mobile start races. Tired over the concluding stages and beaten by a considerable margin. A post-race Veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Connections were advised it would be required to perform a re-qualifying trial. Driver J Wade was questioned regarding him raising his hand when the filly broke gait during the score-up to indicate to the starter that he had a gear issue and he required a false start to be activated. He stated that he felt the straps on the filly’s bridle had come loose and that had resulted in the filly breaking gait. After viewing the available footage and inspecting the gear Stewards were of the view that there was not a gear issue that warranted a false start and J Wade was fined $200 under Rule 162(1)(d) for delaying the start.
