J Gallagher stated after beginning well he did not want to take a position behind SPECULATING despite the fact a gap had appeared as he did not believe that runner would take him into the race. Therefore he elected to press on and obtain the lead from SPECULATING in what he believed was a relatively suitable lead time. J Gallagher added after leading, DONEGAL LUTHER NZ improved three wide which in turn caused DE GOEY to move forward and MADIGAN which was racing outside the leader, to press forward. Therefore he immediately steadied his runner to take cover from MADIGAN who was the favourite in the event. J Gallagher’s explanation was noted.
