RACE 1 – THE TAB APP PACE – 1740 metres

 

OUR ROCKY – Driver R Strong was given the opportunity to comment on the below market expectations performance of the gelding, he stated that from the inside front row draw the stable felt it would be best to take advantage of that and attempt to lead throughout after its good performance at its previous start. He added that it travelled well within itself for the majority of the race but did not respond when placed under pressure from near the 200 metres, and he was disappointed with the way it finished the race off. He further added following today’s run they would be likely to take cover in similar circumstances in future.

MILLWOOD GRACE NZ – Pre-race swab sampled.

CRIMSON ROCK NZ – Inconvenienced near the 200 metres when CALL ME DRAGON shifted out

ROLL THE ACES – Contacted the sulky wheel of BRACKEN WARRIOR near the 200 metres and was checked and broke gait, resulting in BRACKEN WARRIOR sustaining a flat tyre. Driver H Ross pleaded guilty to a charge under Rule 168(1)(a) for careless driving in that near the 200 metres when shifting the gelding out three wide in an endeavour to improve his position he did not allow sufficient room and his runner contacted the sulky wheel of BRACKEN WARRIOR causing it to suffer a flat tyre and his runner to break gait. In assessing penalty Stewards took into account H Ross’ guilty plea, his good driving record with regards to this rule and the circumstances of the incident, in particular that his runner hung-in somewhat when he was attempting to shift it out. Driver H Ross was fined the sum of $200.

MOP NZ – Post-race swab sampled.

THE BANKER NZ – Inconvenienced behind the tiring OUR ROCKY near the 100 metres.

CALL ME DRAGON – Shifted out near the 200 metres, as a result CRIMSON ROCK NZ was inconvenienced. Driver J Painting was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground in similar circumstances in future.

BRACKEN WARRIOR – Sulky wheel contacted by ROLL THE ACES near the 200 metres where it sustained a flat tyre.

 

RACE 2 – WARRAWEE NEEDY @ YIRRIBEE PACING STUD PACE – 1740 metres

 

PLAN CE – Pre-race swab sampled. Post-race swab sampled.

SIGNOR JUJON – Raced roughly and broke gait upon entering the home straight, for which a warning was issued.

GLAMORS SYMBOL – Examined by the Club Veterinarian prior to the race, as it has had over 200 race starts, and cleared to start.

 

RACE 3 – MEDOWIE LODGE LADYSHIP PACE – 1740 metres

 

General – The start of this race was delayed and re-scheduled to 3.07pm due to a storm in the vicinity of the track.

SHOOBEES CHARM – Pre-race swab sampled.

MORESCO – Trainer’s representative N Hargraves was questioned regarding the seemingly improved performance of the mare, he stated he didn’t feel it was an improved performance. He added he felt it had been racing fairly consistently, however had raced intractably at its most recent start. He further added that at its start prior to that it had finished close to the winner at Bathurst in a stronger race than that of today’s event and races better when able to race up on the speed. Post-race swab sampled. Delayed post-race sample taken approximately 2.5 hours after the event.

OUR ROKU – Trainer C Gusman was fined $50 under Rule 210 for not declaring a Driver for the filly by the required time. Trainer/Driver C Gusman was given the opportunity to comment on the below market expectations performance of the filly, she stated that it sucked wind from near the 1000 metres. She added that it is not something she has had trouble with it doing in its races and it may be a seasonal condition as it had done it one time previously around this time last year.

LUVTOO – Held up for clear running for the majority of the home straight.

ISLAND BOUHINIA – Declared a late scratching at 2.45pm on Vet’s advice, reared and fell during the preliminary of the race. Connections were advised that they would be required to provide a Veterinary certificate of fitness for the mare prior to its next race start.

 

RACE 4 – MILBRAE QUARRIES 2YO PACE – 1740 metres

 

General – The start of this race was re-scheduled to 3.29pm.

HEZA NEEDY – Tired over the concluding stages for which a warning was issued. Trainer/Driver R White reported that the gelding carried a flat tyre over the concluding stages of the race.

SEVENTH IMMORTAL – Tired over the concluding stages of the event. A post-race Veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. A warning was placed on the gelding for its performance.

JUSTCALLIMREX – Out of position at the start. Driver T Gilligan was fined $50 under Rule 162(1)(h) for failing to bring the gelding up into position behind the barrier at the start. Inconvenienced approaching the 1200 metres when the pace eased.

SHARP INTEREST – Pre-race swab sampled. Inconvenienced approaching the 1200 metres when FASTING shifted out.

FASTING – Driver D Hancock was issued with a reprimand under Rule 163(1)(b)(i), for forcing another runner wider on the track prior to the point where permitted to do so, in that approaching the 1200 metres he shifted his runner out, when not sufficiently clear of SHARP INTEREST which was momentarily obliged to shift wider on the track. Post-race swab sampled.

 

RACE 5 – NIXONS ENGINEERING PACE – 1740 metres

 

EVILEYE – Pre-race swab sampled. Driver D Miles was fined the sum of $200 under Rule 156(2)(a) for using his whip with an action that was more than a wrist only flicking motion in the home straight.

SWEET OPTIONS – Held up for clear running for the majority of the home straight.

UNIT FORTY ONE – Held up for clear running over the concluding stages of the race.

MAJOR ALLEGIANCE – Post-race swab sampled.

AELLA BY – Hung-in under pressure in the home straight.

 

RACE 6 – NORTH SHORE CAFE PACE – 2270 metres

 

DIRECT COMMAND NZ – Pre-race swab sampled.

MAGINOT LINE – Raced three wide from the start before working forward to take up the position outside the leader near the 1800 metres. Post-race swab sampled.

BE GOOD MIKI – Raced three wide from the start before working forward to take up the position outside the leader leaving the 1800 metres.

HONEST HARRIETTE – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn, prior to obtaining a run in the sprint lane.

 

RACE 7 – NUTRIEN EQUINE PACE – 1740 metres

 

ROCKNROLL KISS – Pre-race swab sampled. Raced three wide from the start before working forward to take up the position outside the leader near the 1200 metres. Shifted out under pressure in the home straight. Post-race swab sampled.

THE IRON DUKE – Held up for clear running until near the 100 metres.

GOD BLESS YOU – Broke its near-side front hopple carrying strap approaching the 1000 metres and raced roughly as a result.

MIKI PINS NZ – Held up for clear running until near the 100 metres.

 

RACE 8 – PREMIUM PUNTER PACE – 1740 metres

 

SCARED STIFF NZ – Held up for clear running for the majority of the home straight. Trainer/Driver J Painting was questioned regarding the tactics adopted with the gelding, in particular not taking a run in the sprint lane when it appeared to be available to him, which would have enabled him to obtain clear running in the home straight. J Painting stated that his runner tended to hang-out at various stages throughout the race and he did attempt to shift it into the sprint lane when it became available however the gelding would not shift down the track. He added he then shifted wider in an attempt to go around INVITATION ONLY NZ however was unable to get clear running. He further added with the way it raced today he felt there may be something amiss with it and would be getting his chiropractor to go over it in the coming days. Given the circumstances a warning was placed on the gelding for hanging out. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have muscle soreness to its hindquarters. Stewards acting on Veterinary advice advised connections that it would be stood down from racing for a period of 7 days.

EMMAS BOY NZ – Held up for clear running over the concluding stages of the race.

INVITATION ONLY NZ – Shifted out under pressure in the home straight.

HES CHARLIES ANGEL – Trainer C Gusman was fined $50 under Rule 210 for not declaring a Driver for the gelding by the required time.
