RACE 1 – MATES4HARNESS 2024 AUSTRALASIAN YOUNG DRIVERS CHAMPIONSHIP HEAT SIX – 1609 metres
WILD CARD NZ – Sustained a contact to the off side wheel racing down the home straight on the final occasion.
NEXT TO ME NZ – Engaged in a jostle with NIFTY STUDLEIGH as the field raced down the back straight on the final occasion.
CONOR MCGREGOR NZ – Post-race sample was taken.
INDASKY NZ – Pre-race sample was taken. Driver E Justice was reprimanded under rule 168(1)(a) in that after being held up in the early stages of the run to the finish attempted a run to the outside of WILD CARD NZ and in doing so contacted the off side wheel and raced roughly for a short distance whilst to the inside of CONOR MCGREGOR NZ when attempting a run that in the opinion of the stewards there was insufficient room to do so and as the field continued over the concluding stages raced in extremely restricted room and as the field passed the line broke stride.
NIFTY STUDLEIGH – Examined pre and post-race by the veterinarian with no abnormalities reported.
LIGHTNING BOB – Examined pre and post-race by the veterinarian with no abnormalities reported.
THEARTOFINFUSION – Gave ground over the concluding stages to be beaten some distance.
BETTOR CHEER NZ – Held up for clear running over the concluding stages and not fully tested.
ROSE NOIRE NZ – Held up for clear running over the concluding stages and not fully tested.
RACE 2 – TOOHEYS PACE – 2030 metres
SHEZA REBEL – Post-race sample was taken.
SILVER LADY NZ – Held up for clear running in the early stages of the run to the finish.
BO DUKE NZ – Broke stride in the early stages of the score up. A warning was issued.
YESNOMAYBESO – Examined pre and post-race by the veterinarian with no abnormalities reported. Had a tendency to over race in the early and middle stages of the event. Held up for clear running in the early stages of the run to the finish.
PETER FORSBERG NZ – Pre-race sample was taken.
RACE 3 – 2024 AUSTRALASIAN YOUNG DRIVERS CHAMPIONSHIP HEAT SEVEN – 1609 metres
GLENFRANKIE – Slow away as the start was affected.
SYLVIA KAY NZ – Post-race sample was taken.
JOHNNY DEE – Sustained a contact to the near side wheel as the field negotiated the final turn.
ONE MORE ALTA – Pre-race sample was taken. Had a tendency to shift ground whilst under pressure over the concluding stages.
BRING YOUR BEST – Driver E Justice pleaded guilty to a charge under rule 168(1)(a) in that when negotiating the final turn attempted a run to the inside of JOHNNY DEE when in the opinion of the Stewards there was insufficient room to do so and contacted the near side wheel and as a result broke stride. Driver E Justice had her licence to drive in races suspended for a period of seven days. When considering penalty Stewards took into account her record in relation to the rule and guilty plea.
RACE 4 – GARRARDS HORSE & HOUND PACE – 1609 metres
GENERAL – This event was delayed due to a power outage affecting the on track lighting. Due to the delay the remaining races did go forward with start times amended.
RYANS GANGSTER – Post-race sample was taken.
ABDICATE NZ – Pre-race sample was taken.
MERRYWOOD PAUL – Had a tendency to hang in on the turns throughout the event. When questioned regarding the performance driver S Grima was not overly disappointed in the performance given its tractability on the turns and felt improvement would come with necessary gear changes.
ROSBERG NZ – Had a tendency to hang in at various stages of the event and gave ground over the concluding stages. When asked regarding the performance driver J Gallagher explained that overall was disappointed.
RACE 5 – LAMBTON LAW PACE – 1609 metres
WAVETHEBILL NZ – Shifted ground up the track whilst under pressure over the concluding stages.
DADNDAVE NZ – Broke stride shortly after the start was affected. A warning was issued. Post-race sample was taken.
MAILMAN NZ – Examined pre and post-race by the veterinarian with no abnormalities reported. Pre-race sample was taken.
RACE 6 – 2024 AUSTRALASIAN YOUNG DRIVERS CHAMPIONSHIP HEAT EIGHT – 1609 metres
MACH CHARM – Examined pre and post-race by the veterinarian with no abnormalities reported.
YOGI – Pre-race sample was taken.
BOOKER BAY – Post-race sample was taken.
RACE 7 – PITCHER PARTNERS TWO YEAR OLD MAIDEN PACE – 1609 meters
WATCH CARINAS LASS – Raced rough during the score up and shortly after the start was affected. A warning was issued. Had a tendency to over race in the early stages of the event and broke stride as the field entered the home straight on the first occasion. Again broke stride upon entering the home straight for the run to the finish for a short distance. connections were advised that given its limited experience would now be required to trial on one occasion. Racing down the back straight on the final occasion WATCH CARINAS LASS attempted to move from a marker peg position into the running line and engaged in a jostle with WOOPAA.
TEMPTING TIGER – Hampered as the field entered the home straight on the first occasion.
SZWANEN – Broke stride in the score up and was out of position as the start was affected then shortly thereafter was retired from the event. Connections were advised it will now be excluded from the mobile barrier draw in addition to one requalifying trial.
ROOBEE – Had a tendency to hang in whilst under pressure over the concluding stages and hampered the running of TEMPTING TIGER. Driver J Taaffe was reprimanded under rule 163(1)(a)(iii). Driver J Taaffe further was further fined the sum of $200 under rule 156(3) in that when applying the whip over the concluding stages did so in a continuous motion not allowing time for his runner to respond.
GARRYS LARRY – Post-race sample was taken.
SLICK AND SUAVE – Pre-race sample was taken.
ZAYNES TIGER – Re-included into the mobile barrier draw. Broke stride as the field negotiated the final turn. Connections were advised it will be stood down until it can requalify on one occasion.
WOOPAA – Hampered in the latter stages of the score up. Had a tendency to race roughly at various stages of the event. After engaging in a jostle with WATCH CARINAS LASS rounding the final turn was momentarily hampered after having a tendency to hang in and shortly thereafter when rounding the final turn raced roughly for a short distance.
RACE 8 – THE TAB PACE – 1609 metres
HALF HOLIDAY – Driver M Grant pleaded guilty to a charge under rule 168(1)(a) in that shortly after entering the home straight for the run to the finish permitted his runner to shift wider attempting a run to the inside of JUNGLE JIVE where in the opinion of the Stewards there was insufficient room to do so and as a result sustained a contact to the off side hind leg and as a result broke stride. Driver M Grant’s licence to drive in races was suspended for a period of seven days. When considering penalty Stewards took into account his guilty plea in addition to his driving record.
MISS OUT – Post-race sample was taken.
JUNGLE JIVE – Pre-race sample was taken. Sustained a contact to the near side wheel upon entering the home straight for the run to the finish.
RACE 9 – SHARP OFFICE PACE – 1609 metres
LITTLE FRENCHIE – Pre-race sample was taken.
POPS JOY – Post-race sample was taken.
DE LA RENTA NZ – Driver S Lindsay was fined the sum of $200 under rule 156(2)(a) in that when applying the whip over the concluding stages employed an action which engaged the shoulder.
BE GOOD BENNY – Held up for clear running in the early stages of the run to the finish.
SHADOW ECLIPSE – Examined pre and post-race by the veterinarian with no abnormalities reported. Held up for clear running in the early stages of the run to the finish.
