RACE 1 –PENRITH MAZDA PACE – 1720metres
DESIDERIO - Pre-race blood sample.
WHISKEY ROYALE - Near the 1500 metres became unbalanced and galloped. A warning was issued.
PRINCE LOUIE - Broke in the score up. A warning was issued.
CHARLIES ACE NZ - Post-race swab sample.
RACE 2 – CONGRATS ON 10 YEARS OF SERVICE KEREE G PACE – 1720metres
CLEMENTSORRELL - Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination due to being 12 years of age having more than 200 race starts. No abnormalities were detected on either examination.
GENTLE GIANT NZ - Hung in under pressure from the 400 metres and until near the 200 metres.
THE GOLDEN CROSS NZ -Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination due to being 12 years of age having more than 200 race starts. No abnormalities were detected on either examination. Tightened for racing room between the 400 metres and 200 metres when racing to the inside of GENTLE GIANT.
BETTOR BE LUCKY -Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination due to being 12 years of age having more than 200 race starts. No abnormalities were detected on either examination.
PRINCE POTTER - Hung in during the score up and was out of position at the start. A warning was issued.
TEAM OF STARZZZ -Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination due to being 12 years of age having more than 200 race starts. No abnormalities were detected on either examination. Stewards questioned Driver W. Rixon in regards to the improved performance of the gelding. W. Rixon stated that the horse has performed best when able to race on the marker pegs and over the shorter distanced events. W. Rixon further added that he hasn’t been entirely disappointed with the gelding’s previous runs as it hadn't been afforded suitable trips. Stewards noted the comments. Post-race swab sample.
TIMELY SOVEREIGN -Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination due to being 12 years of age having more than 200 race starts. No abnormalities were detected on either examination.
RACE 3 – TAB VENUE MODE PACE – 2125metres
LUKE JOHN NZ - Stewards questioned Driver J. Coney in regards to the performance of the gelding which weakened to be beaten 116 metres. J. Coney stated that once finding the lead the gelding commenced to over-race from the 1400 metres and was under pressure from the 1000 meters. J. Coney added that in his opinion the gelding may have choked down during the event. Trainer L. McCarthy agreed with the comments of Driver J. Coney and advised that the gelding would now be leaving his stable. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have the thumps. In view of the performance the gelding will be stood down until it can complete one satisfactory trial.

WEAREALLALONE - Held up for clear running in the early stages of the home straight.
CHOOCHOO TRAIN - Pre-race blood sample.
RACE 4 – CONGRATS ON 15 YEARS OF SERVICE GLEN G PACE – 2125metres
ROCKNROLL GIG - Pre-race blood sample. Hung in rounding the home turn on the final occasion. Post-race swab sample.
RIO DE JANEIRO BLUE NZ - Driver R. Maisner was fined $200 under Rule 156(2)(a) for applying his whip with more than a wrist only flicking motion over the final 200 meters.
POLKA DELIGHT NZ -Held up for clear running in the early stages of the home straight.
SELSEY BILL NZ - Driver D. Murphy was fined $100 under Rule 170(1)(a) for allowing his left foot to drop from the sulky rest between the 150 metres and 100 metres.
RACE 5 – SHEPPARD - PENRITH CARNIVAL OF CUPS MAR 15 PACE – 1720metres
MERRYWOOD TONY - Post-race swab sample.
SKYE MARY MAC NZ - Pre-race blood sample.
BETTING STAR - Hung in rounding the home turn and when being corrected overreacted and shifted wider on the track.
RACE 6 – CONGRATS ON 15 YEARS OF SERVICE MICHELLE B PACE – 1720metres
OURSURFINSAFARI - Held up for clear running in the early stages of the home straight.
CARIBBEAN RUNA - Pre-race blood sample. Stewards questioned Driver Z. Fitzpatrick in regards to the performance of the gelding. Z. Fitzpatrick stated that the gelding wasn’t suited to having consistent pressure applied during the event which resulted in the gelding failing to finish the event off. Trainer T. Munday agreed with the comments of Z. Fitzpatrick and further added that it may be suited to racing over longer distances where there is less pressure. Stewards noted the comments.
GIRLS VIEW - Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination due to falling in its tie up stall. Cleared to start.
FOLLOW THE ECLIPSE - Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination due to falling in the parade ring. Cleared to start. Will now be re-included in the mobile barrier draw.
RACE 7 – SKY RACING ACTIVE PACE – 1720metres
OUR THUNDER - Pre-race blood sample.
ZAYNES TIGER - Stewards questioned Driver R. Morris in regards to the performance of the gelding which weakened over the final 400 metres. R. Morris stated that the gelding over-raced slightly during the event however when asked for an effort failed to respond. Stewards noted the comments.
SPARKLA - Post-race swab sample.
Supplementary Report - Menangle Trials - Wednesday 8th January 2025
Driver J. Callaghan was fined $100 under Rule 238 for failing to adhere to a direction from HRNSW in that he failed to wear white driving pants when directed to do so.
