ELECTRA GIRL will now be stood down pending a veterinary clearance. Prior to the All Clear Stewards order All monies invested on ELECTRA GIRL to be refunded in full with the following deductions to apply of 5cents in All win & 5cents in All place bets.

THE EX HORSEIST – Pre-race swab & Post-race swab.

OUR REBEL YELL – ($6.00) Driver Blake Micallef was queried into the seemingly poor performance of the gelding which finished in 6th position beaten 29.3m. Mr Micallef advised the gelding provided to be disappointing & contributed the performance to the gelding contacting its knee on the smaller racing circuit and failing to race in a genuine manner as the gelding is better suited to the larger track in the region & racing over the shorter distances. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

JOYCIES LAD – ($7.00) Driver Mikayla Towers was queried into the tactics adopted upon the gelding in particular her decision to progress forward three (3) wide passing the 1200m & the gelding racing in that position for the remainder of the event prior to giving ground from the 600m to finish in 7th and last position beaten 56.1m. Ms Towers advised JOYCIES LAD lacks high speed and is best driven when able to be racing in a forward position which the gelding had been for majority of its career. Ms Towers explained she felt she would obtain the position outside the leader relatively easy & quickly after directing the gelding three (3) wide passing the 1200m. However, when entering the turn leaving the back straight the gelding commenced to hang inwards significantly causing JOYCIES LAD to lose all momentum & being unable to be driven forward. Ms Towers added passing the 800m it became apparent TIZZY LIZZIE (Harry O’Neill) which was racing outside the leader was not going to relinquish the position & she took hold of the gelding where again passing the 700m the gelding hung inwards and commenced to give ground. After viewing the available replays which confirmed the comments of Ms Towers stewards felt the tactics adopted were not unreasonable in the circumstances and the racing manners of JOYCIES LAD were the main factor Stewards took the matter no further and placed a warning on the racing manners of JOYCIES LAD. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

ELECTRA GIRL – Declared a late scratching at 7:38pm on veterinary advice. Stood down pending a veterinary clearance.

FOREVER YIN – Post-race swab

GOD BLESS YOU – ($21.00) Trainer/driver Jon Ponsonby was queried into the seemingly poor performance of the gelding which finished in 10th and last position beaten 72m after trailing the leader for majority of the event. Mr Ponsonby advised the gelding to be extremely disappointing and could offer no tangible explanation of the performance. A warning was issued against the gelding racing competitiveness. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Broke gait clear of interference momentarily passing the 300m a warning was issued against the gelding racing manners.

SIX AGAIN – Inconvenienced & contacted marker pegs passing the 300m when GOD BLESS YOU broke gait.

HERE COMES BOBBY – Pre-race swab.

WORKS FOR ME NZ – ($3.70) Trainer/driver Anthony Frisby was queried into the seemlying poor performance of the mare which finished in 9th position beaten 52.6m after racing outside the leader from the 1500m. Mr Frisby advised the mare to be disappointing and contributed the performance to a combination of the mare enduring work during the early stages of the event to obtain the position outside the with the consisted speed throughout and may not have been suited racing without cover over the longer distance. Mr Frisby added the mare may have not handle the smaller racing circuit as WORKS FOR ME NZ hung inwards significantly from passing the 500m which was uncharacteristic for the mare. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. A warning was issued against the mares racing manners for hanging inwards. Mr Frisby was fined the sum of $50 under AHR Rule 162(1)(h) for failing to come up into position when the start was effected.

CAPTAINS CATCH – ($2.80 Fav) Driver Blake Micallef was queried into the overall performance of the gelding which finished in 7th position beaten 37.3m. Mr Micallef advised the gelding made contact to its knee during the early stages and failed to travel sufficiently at any stage of the event thereafter. Mr Micallef explained he did give consideration of racing along the marker line during the early stages to obtain a three (3) marker peg position however was relucted to do so due to the gelding being the favourite in the event and in particular after being significantly back in the run as the gelding would not be able to make up the ground with the consisted speed of the event and the gelding would be required to sustained long wide run therefore elected to shift the gelding to the marker line inside the final 600m to save ground. CAPTAINS CATCH was inconvenienced passing the 400m when improving behind WORKS FOR ME NZ which was commencing to yield ground. Mr Micallef advised the gelding is better suited to the larger racing circuits and in similar circumstances he would drive the gelding along the marker line if a prominent position was available on the smaller racing circuits going forward.

RACE 5 – RSM PACE – 2000 metres

IDEAL TAO – ($4.80) Trainer/driver Maurice Johnson was queried into the seemingly poor performance of the mare which finished in 7th position beaten 42.3m after leading. A post-race veterinary examination revealed IDEAL TAO to displaying a delayed recovery with respiratory distress. IDEAL TAO was stood down from racing for a period of seven (7) days.

MISTER REBEL –Underwent pre and post-race veterinary examinations due to the gelding having started in excess of 200 starts. Neither examination revealed any significant abnormalities.

MISTER CRUNCH – ($3.30 Fav) Driver James Locke was queried into the overall performance of the colt which was having it first official race start which finished in 8th position beaten 10.2m. Mr Locke advised MISTER CRUNCH failed to handle the smaller track as the colt hung inwards significantly when directed three (3) wide passing the 400m and failed to let down which was the main factor to the colts performance. Mr Locke added MISTER CRUNCH had only trialled on the larger circuit at Goulburn and had not displayed the racing manners which the colt displayed tonight. A warning was issued against the racing manners of MISTER CRUNCH.

SPREAD THE FEAR – Post-race swab.

SPLASH ATTAQUE – Trainer Vanessa Benett was fined the sum of $100 under AHR Rule 273(5)(a) for presenting the filly wearing the incorrect saddlecloth number to the parade ring. Back in the mobile draw.

THE LURKER – Post-race swab.
