RACE 1 – OBERON COUNCIL PACE – 2260 meters

ALWAYSBMINNIE – Worked forward to the lead passing the 1900 metres.  Post-race swab.

REBOUNDER – Pre-race blood test.

BETTORS HOPE – Commenced to improve three wide passing the 1050 metres. 

MARVELLOUS MAC – Commenced to improve three wide with a trail behind BETTORS HOPE passing the 1050 metres.

SUNDAY MORNINGS – Held up for clear running in the early stages of the home straight.

MISTERFOURTHOUSAND – Over race throughout the event.

 

RACE 2 – ROSEDALE GIFTS PACE – 1730 metres

HALL CASH – Post-race swab.

SPECIAL SPIN – Pre-race blood test.

UNCLE CRAIGO – Caught wide before working forward to the position outside the leader passing the 1400 metres.  Approaching the 250 metres hung in under pressure and as a result checked MAGIC MATTEO causing that runner to break gait.  Driver Anthony Frisby was questioned in relation to the overall performance of the gelding after giving ground over the concluding stages to be beaten 32.5 metres.  Mr Frisby explained that the horse is best suited when driven with cover on the fence however UNCLE CRAIGO was forced to race in a position outside the leader which is not suitable. 

CHELSEAS GIRL – A pre and post-race veterinary examination was conducted due to the mare not having started in excess of 12 months.  Both examinations failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.

ALWAYSBMYPONY – Approaching the 250 metres was inconvenienced when held up behind the tiring MAGIC MATTEO.

MAGIC MATTEO – Hung in during the score up and was out of position at the start and will continue to be out of the draw in mobile starts. Driver Blake Medlyn was questioned in regards to the overall performance of the gelding after racing in a rearward position commenced to improve three wide passing the 1000 metres before obtaining a position outside the leader at the 750 metres, then commencing to tire approaching the 350 metres  before passing the 250 metres was checked and broke as a result of UNCLE CRAIGO hanging in. Mr Medlyn explained that UNCLE CRAIGO was in the position outside the leader and he was mindful that runner is normally driven with cover and felt it was a good opportunity to put MAGIC MATTEO into the event, however the third quarter was run in a fast 27.6 seconds which was detrimental to the overall performance of MAGIC MATTEO.

 

RACE 3 – OBERON TRASHPAK / OBERON QUARRIES PACE – 1730 metres

ROCKNROLL RAMBO – Held up in the early stages of the home straight.

THE DANCER – Post-race swab.

LADY ROCKABELLUM – Caught wide early before working forward to the position outside the leader at the 1300 metres

OUR UNCLE HAROLD – Driver Travis Bullock was questioned in relation to the overall performance of the gelding, having worked forward to the lead passing the 1350 metres approaching the 400 metres the gelding commenced to give ground to be beaten 47.8 metres.  Driver Travis Bullock explained he was able to find the lead reasonably easy and the gelding travelled well until a point passing the 400 metres when the deafeners failed to release and from that point on OUR UNCLE HAROLD commenced to tire.  The comments of Mr Bullock were noted.

RACE 4 – MARGARET MAWHOOD MEMORIAL – 1730 metres

WINDY HILL WHISKEY – Worked forward to the lead passing the 1400 metres.

UNCLE TONY – Worked forward to a position outside the leader passing the 1400 metres.  Hung in under pressure and was issued its last chance to race truly.  Post-race swab.

LETSTACOBOUTIT – Driver Jye Coney was questioned in relation to the overall performance of the gelding having commenced to improve three wide from the 1200 metres to a position outside the leader at the 950 metres to be beaten 32.8 metres.  Mr Coney explained he felt the gelding was up in grade and maybe better suited to half mile tracks.

FIFTY THREE STARS – Pre-race blood test.

 

RACE 5 – ELGAS & BARKERS BUTCHERY OBERON CUP – 1730 metres

TITIWAH – Pre-race blood test.  Held up for clear running in the home straight and was not fully tested.

DORRISTOPAYTHEBILL – Held up in the home straight and was not fully tested.

HE AINT FAKIN – Commenced to improve three wide passing the 1300 metres before working forward to the lead at the 1050 metres and then again surrendering the lead to ON DEADLINE NZ passing the 1000 metres.  Post-race swab.

MYRA DAWN – Caught wide early before working forward to a position outside the leader at the 1350 metres.

ON DEADLINE NZ – Commenced to improve three wide approaching the 1300 metres before being inconvenienced when HE AINT FAKIN moved wider in front of ON DEADLINE NZ and momentum carrying the horse four wide before working forward to the lead passing the 1000 metres.

HES CHIMING – A pre and post-race veterinary examination was conducted due to the horse not having raced for in excess of 12 months.  Both examinations failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.  Had a tendency to hang in throughout the event.

 

RACE 6 – BOWYER & LIVERMORE PACE – 1730 metres

CRYSTAL BLING – Pre-race blood test.

DANCEBYTHESEASIDE – Inconvenienced after the start as a result of LLANFAIR LLEWELLAN being tightened and shifting down the track locking wheels with the gelding.

LLANFAIR LLEWELLAN – Tightened shortly after the start as a result of CHILLAX shifting in after the start which caused LLANFAIR LLEWELLAN to lock wheels with DANCEBYTHESEASIDE.

CHILLAX – Driver James Dean was issued a reprimand under rule 163(1)(a)(iii) in that shortly after the start he has allowed the mare to shift in placing LLANFAIR LLEWELLAN into restricted room and causing DANCEBYTHESEASIDE and LLANFAIR LLEWELLAN to lock wheels.  Broke shortly after the start and will be continued out of the draw in mobile starts.

RACE 7 – MOORHEAD CRANES PACE – 1730 metres

PRINCESS YARIYAH – Post-race swab.

DIXIE SHANNON – A pre and post-race veterinary examination was conducted due to the mare not having raced in excess of 12 months.  Both examinations failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.  Driver Travis Bullock pleaded guilty to a charge under rule 163(1)(a)(iii) for causing interference in that shortly after the start he has allowed his mare to shift down the track when not sufficiently clear of BRAEDIE WEARS RED causing that runner to be checked and break gait.  Driver Travis Bullock had his licence to drive in races suspended for a period of 21 days to commence midnight 19 January 2025.  In assessing penalty Stewards considered Mr Bullock’s plea, record in relation to the rule and the circumstances of this incident.

BEAUTIFFULY PUT – A pre and post-race veterinary examination was conducted due to the horse not having raced for in excess of 12 months.  Both examinations failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities. 

LUCKY IN AMERICA – Galloped out.  Given it is the mare’s first race start it will now be excluded from the mobile barrier draw.

TRUE LOGIC – At the request of connections TRUE LOGIC was re-included into the mobile barrier draw.

A REAL REASON – Driver Nathan Hurst pleaded guilty to a charge under rule 163(1)(a)(iii) for causing interference in that approaching the 200 metres he has allowed A REAL REASON to shift up the track when not sufficiently clear of BRAEDIE WEARS RED causing that runner to be checked and break gait.  Driver Nathan Hurst had his licence to drive in races suspended for a period of 10 days to commence midnight 17 January 2025.  In assessing penalty Stewards considered Mr Hurst’s plea, record in relation to the rule and the circumstances of this incident.  At the request from connections A REAL REASON was re-included into the mobile barrier draw.

LIVE VANCE – Held up in the home straight before gaining clear running passing the 50 metres.

BRAEDIE WEARS RED – Pre-race blood test.  Checked and broke after the start as a result of DIXIE SHANNON shifting down the track.  Approaching the 200 metres was checked and broke as a result of A REAL REASON shifting wider on the track.

 

RACE 8 – OBERON EARTH MOVING & OBERON RSL CLUB PACE – 1730 metres

PIPPA CHEER – Slow to begin from the mobile barrier.

HOLD THE SPRITE – Gave ground over the concluding stages to be beaten 34.8 metres.

ONEOFMANY – Had a tendency to hang out under pressure.

THEYCALLMEBRUCE – Pre-race blood test.  Worked forward to the lead passing the 1400 metres.  Post-race swab.
