RACE 1 – THE LONGYARD HOTEL PACE – 1980 metres

SPEARHEAD – Pre-race blood sample.

MISTER FONZI – Post-race swab sample.

THOMAS ROYAL – Slow to begin.

GOTONEBETTOR – Slow to begin.

HELL OF A HAND – Raced roughly under pressure over the concluding stages.  Driver G Whitaker was cautioned in relation to the manner that he applied the whip inside the 150 metres.

 

RACE 2 – THE PUB – GUNNEDAH ROAD PACE – 1609 metres

COTE DAZUR NZ – Post-race swab sample.

DESPONDENT – Pre-race blood sample.

MYSTIFY ME NZ – Pulled hard during the middle stages.

 

RACE 3 – THE FAMILY HOTEL PACE – 1609 metes

TINTINS TREASURE – Pulled hard during the middle stages.

GROSSO NASO – Post-race swab sample.

DOUBLE MACH – Unable to obtain clear running inside the 200 metres and went to the finish without being tested.

BRAVE BONDI – Pre-race blood sample.  Unable to obtain clear running inside the 200 metres and went to the finish without being tested. 

 

RACE 4 – THE BEVAN DOUGLAS PACE – 1609 metres

OUTBACK QUEENIE – Pre-race blood sample.  Post-race swab sample.

PET KITTY – Pre-race blood sample.  Pulled hard during the middle stages.

 

RACE 5 – THE PUB GROUP GOLD NUGGET – 1980 metres

MAJIC MOMENT NZ – When questioned in relation to his driving inside the 700 metres, B Hughes explained that as the mare tired, it began to hang out and was difficult to drive.  He said that entering the back straight on the final occasion he was unable to maintain his position on the marker pegs and despite his best efforts MAJIC MOMENT NZ shifted wider on the track which allowed LUVBITE and RACING PAULA to improve on his inside.  He said that thereafter, despite his constant efforts MAJIC MOMENT NZ could not improve and continued to race ungenerously.  Connections were advised that a warning would be placed on the mare’s racing record. 

BUDDY PERFECT – Broke stride free of any external factors inside the 400 metres and galloped for a short distance.  Had to be checked severely near the 300 metres when attempting to avoid KICKATINALONGPONY.

HY VOLTAGE – Driver dislodged near the 300 metres.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding was 3/5 lame in the off-hind leg.  Connections were advised that a stand down period of seven days would be applied and prior to racing again HY VOLTAGE must undergo a veterinary examination to determine its fitness.

KICKATINALONGPONY – C Formosa the driver of HEAVENLY HOLLY pleaded guilty to a charge under rule AR 163(1)(a)(iii), stating that passing the 300 metres she failed to make sufficient effort to prevent HEAVENLY HOLLY shifting into the path of KICKATINALONGPONY, resulting in KICKATINALONGPONY’S off fore leg striking the inside sulky wheel of HEAVENLY HOLLY, blundering badly and whilst being unbalanced shifting out and locking wheels with HY VOLTAGE resulting in KICKATINALONGPONY falling and G Whitaker the driver of HY VOLTAGE being dislodged; further that NURBURGRING NZ which was following was severely checked and had to be shifted wider.  C Formosa’s licence to drive in races was suspended for a period of 28 days to commence at midnight on 23 January 2025 and expire on 21 February 2025 on which day she may drive.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed KICKATINALONGPONY had suffered an abrasion to its offside hip.  Connections were advised that a stand down period of seven days would be applied.

NURBURGRING NZ – Pre-race blood sample.  A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

HEAVENLY HOLY – Post-race swab sample.

 

RACE 6 – SOUTHGATE INN PACE – 1980 metres

LILLY SHANNON – Weakened noticeably inside the 400 metres.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare displayed a slow recovery rate.  Connections were advised that prior to racing again LILLY SHANNON must perform competitively in an official qualifying trial.

HEAVENLY SONG – Driver E Ison was fined $50 under AR 162(1)(j), for failing to maintain her position at the start.

SPIKEY BOY NZ – When questioned in relation to the performance, trainer/driver Mr T Ison stated that despite being challenged in the lead for some distance the performance was disappointing and could offer no explanation for it.  He said that SPIKEY BOY NZ would leave his stable.

SMOLENSKI – When questioned in relation to the tactics adopted driver T Brown explained that after being trapped wide in the early stages he drove forward and obtained the position outside the lead. he said that he had not intended mount a sustained challenge, however he was reluctant to restrain the mare too strongly fearing it may choke down. He said that he gained an initial response from Smolenski when pressured inside the 500m, however the effort could not be maintained, and it weakened inside the 200m.

RACE 7 – MOONSHINERS – HONKY TONK BAR PACE – 1980 metres

PRINCE OF PAYNE – Locked wheels for a short distance in the early part of the home straight and was unbalanced.

SUMMERHILL – Raced roughly for a short distance approaching the first turn.  Broke stride free of any external factors passing the 1200 metres and galloped.  Connections were advised that the provision of last chance to race truly would be placed on the gelding’s racing record. 

MONELLINA – Pre-race blood sample.  Crowded momentarily rounding the home turn when racing tight on the inside of TASMANS DELIGHT, then when being shifted slightly wider at the entrance to the home straight locked wheels with PRINCE OF PAYNE and was unbalanced for some distance.

SWEET VALERIA – Hampered slightly passing the 1200 metres when racing behind SUMMERHILL.  Weakened noticeably over the concluding stages.  Connections were advised that prior to racing again SWEET VALERIA must perform competitively in an official qualifying trial.

BELLA LOU – Raced roughly at stages then had to be checked and broke stride passing the 1200 metres when attempting to avoid SUMMERHILL. 

SHE WHO DARES – When questioned in relation to the performance, driver G Panella explained that due to the solid early tempo she obtained cover in a mid-field position in the running line where the mare travelled comfortably.  She said that when the tempo eased in the middle stages, she drove forward to obtain the position outside the lead and for some distance after this SHE WHO DARES continued to travel very strongly and for a short while was difficult to restrain.  She said that she became concerned inside the 600 metres with the mare’s breathing and despite her efforts from that point SHE WHO DARES weakened noticeably.  Connections were advised that prior to racing again SHE WHO DARES must perform competitively in an official qualifying trial.

RUSHYS CHANCE – Had to be checked severely and broke stride when attempting to avoid SUMMERHILL passing the 1200 metres.

RACE 8 – IBIS HOTEL TAMWORTH PACE – 1980 metres

ZOEMAGIC – Passed required pre-race veterinary examination.

SAFE JEWELS – Post-race swab sample.

WILLIEWA LIGHTNING – Hung out during the middle stages and was difficult to drive.  Had to be checked and broke stride approaching the home turn when being carried slightly wider by SAFE JEWELS when that runner shifted out in search of clear running.  Subsequently A Varga the driver of SAFE JEWELS was reprimanded under AR 163(1)(a)(iii), for shifting ground when not quite clear.

MIDNIGHT IN MEMPHIS NZ – Had to be steadied for a short distance approaching the home turn when racing behind WILLIEWA LIGHTNING when that runner galloped.

SEAMARK NZ – Pulled hard during the middle stages.

ROLAMAX – Passed required pre-race veterinary examination.

CLASSIC ARC – Pre-race blood sample.
