RACE 1 – MULTIQUIP ENGINEERING – GOLDEN GUITAR HEAT ONE – 1980 metres
MAJOR MAL - When questioned in relation to the performance, Driver R Morris explained that after allowing BUDDY PERFECT to cross in the early stages he established the position outside the lead however the horse failed to travel comfortably and was unbalanced rounding all bends. He said he felt MAJOR MAL continually struck itself and when placed under pressure inside the 600 metres was unresponsive and ran to the finish in a disappointing manner. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse had sustained abrasions to its near foreleg. Connections were advised a stand down period of 7 days would be applied.
ADRENALINE RUSH – Forced wider rounding the turn into the back straight on the final occasion. Subsequently, Miss Z Fitzpatrick, Driver of IMA QUEEN BEE was reprimanded under Rule 163(1)(b)(i) for forcing another horse wider when shifting out at that stage.
LUXURY LAD – Pre-race blood sample.
DIDSHEDOIT NZ – Post race swab sample.
RACE 2 – MULTIQUIP POULTRY – GOLDEN GUITAR HEAT TWO – 1980 metres
ROMERO – Weakened over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
GROSSO NASO – When questioned in relation to the performance, Driver B Hughes explained he drove forward to lead in accordance with his instructions and the gelding travelled moderately in the early stages however was pressured for the lead for some distance. He said he attempted to increase the tempo passing the winning post on the final occasion, however GROSSO NASO was unresponsive and from that point was disappointing. He said in his opinion the gelding may not have fully recovered from its most recent race start on 14 December 2025. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
COTE DAZUR NZ – Held up racing in restricted room for some distance inside the 500 metres, then approaching the 300 metres had to be shifted wider on the track to go forward.
RAKAJED NZ – Pre-race blood sample. Post-race swab sample.
RACE 3 – MULTIQUIP HATCHERY EQUIPMENT – GOLDEN GUITAR HEAT THREE – 1980 metres
INDASKY NZ – Unresponsive to its drivers urgings inside the 400 metres and gave ground. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormality.
MAJOR MICKEY – Hampered and raced in restricted room for a short distance inside the 300 metres when tight to the inside of DEBONAIRE.
SWEETHEART BART – Passed required pre-race veterinary examination. Pre-race blood sample. Post-race swab sample.
RACE 4 – MULTIQUIP TRANSPORT – GOLDEN GUITAR HEAT FOUR – 1980 metres
ROCKET BOY – Pre-race blood sample. When questioned in relation to the performance, Driver C Hart explained the gelding raced fiercely for a considerable distance in the early and middle stages and was difficult to restrain. He said passing the winning post on the final occasion, he felt the gelding had choked down and after placing it under pressure approaching the 500m and gaining no response he ceased driving with vigour. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Connections were advised that prior to racing again ROCKET BOY must perform competitively in an official qualifying trial.
APACHE WHITESOX – When questioned in relation to the performance, Driver J Gallagher explained the gelding raced ungenerously throughout and failed to travel comfortably at any stage, then when placed under pressure inside the 600 metres was unresponsive and weakened noticeably. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
Connections were advised that prior to racing again APACHE WHITESOX must perform competitively in an official qualifying trial.
PEPPER BLISS – Had to be checked and shifted wider near the 500 metres and raced roughly when attempting to avoid APACHE WHITESOX which was weakening.
LA DERNIERE – Driver L Sutton was fined $200 under Rule 156(3) for excessive use of the whip inside the 200 metres. Post-race swab sample.
RACE 5 – MULTIQUIP COMMERCIAL HATCHERY – GOLDEN GUITAR HEAT FIVE – 1980 metres
SHADOW ECLIPSE – Passed required pre-race veterinary examination.
WILLIEWA LIGHTNING – Broke stride free of any external factors approaching the 1600 metres and galloped for some distance. Connections were advised the provision of last chance to race truly would be placed on the gelding’s racing record. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
MY LATIN LADY – Weakened noticeably inside the 400 metres. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Connections were advised a poor performance warning would be placed on the mare’s racing record.
SUPA AMERICAN – Post-race swab sample.
JAYJAYBENNY – Pre-race blood sample.
RACE 6 – HAZELLS TAMWORTH – LOCAL PACE HEAT ONE – 1980 metres
MIDAS SHANNON – Fractious during the score up and contacted the barrier arm which resulted in a gear malfunction to its headwear and a false start was declared. Connections were advised the provision of last chance in the mobile draw would be placed on the geldings racing record. Driver R Morris’s left foot dropped below the sulky rest momentarily passing the 300 metres.
REDS GOOD TO GO – Pre-race blood sample. Post-race swab sample.
RIPPIN GOOD FEELIN – Raced in restricted room for some distance approaching the home turn and was held up for clear running in the early part of the home straight.
RACE 7 – HAZELLS TAMWORTH – LOCAL PACE HEAT TWO – 1980 metres
JUST TOMMY – When questioned in relation to the performance, Trainer/Driver Mr S Ison explained despite travelling in a prominent position in the early and middle stages, the gelding was under pressure and unresponsive inside the 400 metres. He said in his opinion JUST TOMMY may not have responded well to racing so quickly from its most recent start on 14 January 2025. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Mr Ison was advised a poor performance warning would be placed on the gelding’s racing record.
FRONTLINER – Pulled hard during the early and middle stages.
RUSHYS CHANCE – Broke stride free of any external factors passing the 100 metres. Subsequently, Trainer/Driver S Glasby was found guilty of a charge under Rule 154(1) stating that by vigorously applying the whip when RUSHYS CHANCE broke stride near the 100 metres he failed to immediately restrain the gelding in an attempt to make it resume a pacing gait. Taking into account all the circumstances including the excessive manner employed by Mr Glasby when applying the whip in this incident, his licence to drive in races was suspended for 21 days to commence midnight 17 January 2025 and expire on 8 February 2025 on which day he may resume. Further, after considering all aspects, RUSHYS CHANCE was disqualified from the event.

RACE 8 – GARRARDS HORSE AND HOUND TAMWORTH CITY CUP – 2360 metres
NURBURGRING NZ – Pre-race blood sample.
CYA ART NZ – Pre-race blood sample. S Grima, Driver of MASTER CATCH pleaded guilty to a charge under Rule 163(1)(a)(iii), stating that approaching the 400 metres, he directed his drive outwards when insufficiently clear of CYA ART NZ, resulting in CYA ART NZ having to be checked and forced wider on the track. S Grima’s licence was suspended for 14 days to commence midnight 17 January 2025 and expire 1 February 2025 on which day he may resume.
