General:

Due to the extreme hot weather forecasted for the area the meeting was rescheduled with the following race times;

Race 1- 3.03pm

Race 2 - 3.38pm

Race 3 - 4.13pm

Race 4 - 4.48pm

Race 5 - 5.21pm

Following Race 5 heavy rain, lighting and hail was within the area with the remaining races being amended as below.

Race 6 - 6.33pm

Race 7 - 6.55pm

 

RACE 1 – APIAM AGNES BANKS EQUINE VET TROTTERS MOBILE – 1609metres

ADDICTIVE STRIDE - Stewards questioned Driver B. Fitzpatrick in regards to the driving tactics adopted on the gelding in particular the tempo set during the middle stages of the event. B. Fitzpatrick stated that after beginning better than expected when rounding the first turn an opportunity present to shift from the marker pegs and work forward to the lead. B. Fitzpatrick added that he had to make use of the gelding to obtain the lead and once obtaining that position near the 1400 metres the gelding commenced to race keenly. B. Fitzpatrick said that he was able to settle the gelding near the 1200 metres however a short distance later PROHIBITED LOVE improved to his outside and applied pressure which resulted in the tempo of the event being quicker than he would have liked. B. Fitzpatrick added that although considering the tempo of the event he was disappointed with the finishing effort of the gelding. Stewards noted the comments.

DAIMYO - Near the 200 metres became unbalanced and galloped. A warning was issued.

THE NIGHT KING - A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding have bled from one nostril. Trainer B. Swan was advised that the gelding would be required to complete one satisfactory trial.

VALLEY STAR NZ - Post-race swab sample.

PHARISEE - Underwent a pre and post-race veterinary examination due being 12 years or older. No abnormalities were detected on either examination.

FLASH KYVALLEY -Underwent a pre and post-race veterinary examination due to competing in excess of 200 race starts. No abnormalities were detected on either examination. Pre-race blood sample. Gave ground from the 700 metres to be beaten 93 metres. Driver C. Hart reported that the gelding was under pressure some distance from the finish and therefore elected not to drive the gelding out over the final 300 metres. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer D. Waite was advised that the gelding must complete one satisfactory trial prior to racing again.

MAJESTIC BREEZE NZ - Near the 1400 metres became unbalanced and galloped. In view of the performance the gelding will be stood down until it can complete 2 satisfactory trials and for a period of 10 days. Trainer K. Morris reported that it would her intention for the gelding to leave her stable.

RACE 2 – D M PLUMING TROTTERS MOBILE – 1609metres

SHOULD BEABARCA - Hung in under pressure over the final 200 metres of the event.

HANOVER DA MOON - Pre-race blood sample. Held up for clear running in the early stages of the home straight.

LAST CLANSMAN - Post-race swab sample.

RACE 3 – BUBBA GUMP PEST CONTROL PACE – 1609metres

SPECIALIZE LOU - Broke after the start. Will now be placed outside the mobile draw in future starts.

KING COREY - Post-race swab sample.

TARAMIN - Inconvenienced after the start when SPECIALIZE LOU broke.

WHAT FOR -Inconvenienced after the start when SPECIALIZE LOU broke. Near the 300 metres hung in and contacted marker pegs.

KILLARA KAMIKAZE - Pre-race blood sample. Out of position at the start. Will continue to be placed outside the draw in future mobile starts.

RACE 4 – IRT HORSE TRANSPORT PACE – 1609metres

MAC BON - Pre-race blood sample. Post-race swab sample.

RACE 5 – OPPORTUNITY KNOCKS @ APG SALES PACE – 1609metres

RUM DELIGHT NZ -Underwent a pre and post-race veterinary examination due to competing in excess of 200 race starts. No abnormalities were detected on either examination.

NOTMUCHUPTOP - Held up for clear running in the early stages of the home straight.

WATCH ME REACT - Post-race swab sample.

WHY NOT SURF - Held up for clear running for the majority of the home straight.

BENTLY BULLET - Pre-race blood sample.

BETTOR BE LUCKY -Underwent a pre and post-race veterinary examination due to competing in excess of 200 race starts. No abnormalities were detected on either examination.

RACE 6 – KING OF SWING STANDING AT COBBITTY EQUINE FARM PACE – 1609metres

HEAVENLY REASON - Slow to begin.

NITRO DANNY - Commenced to give ground from the 600 metres to be beaten 175 metres. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be suffering atrial fibrillation. Trainer M. Teuma was advised that the gelding would be stood down for 14 days, must provide a veterinary certificate of fitness including the results of and ECG and must complete one satisfactory trial.

WAHAKA - Post-race swab sample.

NEED FOR SPEED - Rounding the first turn was checked and broke when HOT CRUISE CONTROL hung in despite the efforts of its driver.

HOT CRUISE CONTROL - Rounding the first turn hung in and made contact with NEED FOR SPEED which was checked and broke and subsequently took no part in the event. Given the racing manners and degree of interference the gelding will be stood down until it can complete one satisfactory trial.

RACE 7 –TAB WE’RE ON PACE – 1609metres

ZEN MASTER - Driver C. McDowell was advised that he must modify his whip action to comply with the rules.

GIMME A REASON - Pre-race blood sample.

MAJOR STATEMENT - Post-race swab sample.

BELLA DANZA - Broke in the early stages of the score up and was out of position at the start. Will now be placed outside the draw in future mobile starts.
