RACE 1 – LERIDA ESTATE WINERY PACE – 1770 metres

THE REAL ROCKETMAN NZ – Tired over the concluding stages to be beaten in excess of 61 metres.  A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding failed to reveal any significant findings.  THE REAL ROCKETMAN NZ will now be stood down from racing until trialling to the satisfaction of Stewards. 

ROCKING LOU – Post-race swab sample.

PRINCE PARKER – Driver Taylah Osmond was questioned regarding the performance of the gelding which finished in eighth placing beaten 44.7 metres ($10).  Ms Osmond explained that the speed of the event, which was consistent throughout, combined with PRINCE PARKER being positioned without cover told on the gelding over the concluding stages.  A post-race veterinary examination of PRINCE PARKER failed to reveal any significant findings.  Given the beaten margin (44.7 metres) a warning was issued.

POLKA DOT DANCE NZ – Pre-race blood sample.  

 

RACE 2 – OSKAR MEMORIALS PACE – 1770 metres

RUM DELIGHT NZ – Underwent pre and post-race veterinary examinations due to the gelding having attained the age of 12 years and having started in more than 200 races.  These examinations did not reveal any significant findings.  Checked approaching the 200 metres as a result of NIFTY RONALD breaking gait.

BLACK ART NZ – Underwent pre and post-race veterinary examinations due to the gelding having attained the age of 12 years.  These examinations did not reveal any significant findings.

JUST ROCKNROLL – Post-race swab sample.

A ROCKNROLL STAR NZ – Over raced during the middle stages.  Inconvenienced passing the 500 metres when BARKWAY MARGARET commenced to give ground.

NIFTY RONALD – Broke clear of interference approaching the 200 metres resulting in RUM DELIGHT NZ being checked and BOLZANO NZ being inconvenienced.  A warning was placed on the record of NIFTY RONALD.

BOLZANO NZ – Inconvenienced approaching the 200 metres as a result of NIFTY RONALD breaking gait.

JACKS UP – Inconvenienced approaching the 500 metres as a result of BARKWAY MARGARET commencing to give ground.

PADDY MACH – Underwent pre and post-race veterinary examinations due to the gelding having obtained the age of 12 years and started in more than 200 races.  These examinations did not reveal any significant findings.  Inconvenienced approaching the 500 metres as a result of BARKWAY MARGARET commencing to give ground.  Driver James Locke was fined $200 under Rule 156(2)(a) in that inside the final 200 metres he applied the whip with more than a wrist only flicking motion.

RACE 3 – GLEN MIA SADDLERY (ACT) PACE – 1770 metres

GENERAL – Stewards inquired into the reasons for SNEAK A PEEK NZ obtaining a narrow run to the inside of EYEDIDNTLOSEIT inside the final 100 metres.  Where after taking evidence from drivers George Lee (EYEDIDNTLOSEIT), James Locke (SNEAK A PEEK NZ) and review of the available replays it was established that shortly after passing the 100 metres EYEDIDNTLOSEIT commenced to shift out slightly when placed under pressure, simultaneous to Mr Locke permitting SNEAK A PEEK NZ to commence to improve to the inside of EYEDIDNTLOSEIT, where shortly after EYEDIDNTLOSEIT continued to shift out under pressure resulting in SNEAK A PEEK NZ being able to improve into a tight run between EYEDIDNTLOSEIT and MY LADY SARAH however finishing behind EYEDIDNTLOSEIT at the completion of the race.  Upon consideration of the circumstances, noting the relative inexperience of Mr Lee (Driver -EYEDIDNTLOSEIT), Stewards took the matter no further other than to remind him of his obligations to ensure he maintains a straight course in the run to the finish. Stewards further spoke advisedly to Mr Locke (Driver- SNEAK A PEEK NZ) concerning improving into a run before it is fully developed and advised him to exercise greater care in future.

LOUIE THE PUNTER NZ – Pre-race blood sample. 

ELECTRA GIRL – Checked and paced roughly passing the 200 metres as a result of MAJOR HUSS shifting outwards.

MAJOR MUCHA – Commenced to hang in when positioned three wide passing the 600 metres. 

EYEDIDNTLOSEIT – Shifted out under pressure inside the final 100 metres.

TUFFASOLDBOOTS – Inconvenienced approaching the 200 metres when MAJOR HUSS shifted out resulting in TUFFASOLDBOOTS being tightened between MAJOR HUSS and ELECTRA GIRL.

MAJOR HUSS – Driver Melissa Hawke was reprimanded under Rule 163(1)(a)(iii) in that approaching the 200 metres she permitted MAJOR HUSS to shift out resulting in TUFFASOLDBOOTS being tightened and inconvenience and taken out onto ELECTRA GIRL which was checked and paced roughly for a short distance.  Post-race swab sample.

SNEAK A PEEK NZ – Held up inside the final 200 metres when unable to fully secure a clear run.

 

RACE 4 – TAB.COM.AU PACE – 2170 metres

OUR GEORGE BOSTON – Broke and shifted out passing the 1200 metres resulting in SIX AGAIN, JEKAMIAS NZ, KUZMA and THE EX HORSEIST being checked to varying degrees.  OUR GEORGE BOSTON will now be stood down from racing until trialling to the satisfaction of Stewards.

WHERE BACK – Inconvenienced passing the 600 metres when DONNIE MAC commenced to give ground.

THE TALK – Driver Melissa Hawke was questioned regarding the tactics adopted on the mare and the overall performance of THE TALK.  Ms Hawke explained that she was instructed to lead if possible and consequently allowed THE TALK to progress forward during the early stages, however it became apparent approaching the 1600 metres that DONNIE MAC would not be surrendering the lead and as a consequence she commenced to restrain THE TALK.  Ms Hawke further added that THE TALK then commenced to over race when positioned outside the leader without cover which only worsened particularly approaching the 1000 metres which ultimately told on the mare over the concluding stages.  Ms Hawke further added that THE TALK had performed well two starts prior at Wagga on 17 January 2025 when positioned outside the leader when only beaten 7 metres in a faster time than in this evening’s event.  Upon consideration of the matter Stewards took the matter no further with respect to action against Ms Hawke however placed a warning on the racing manners of THE TALK.  A post-race veterinary examination of THE TALK failed to reveal any significant findings.

DONNIE MAC – Pre-race blood sample.  Driver Dean Cernovskis was questioned regarding the tactics adopted on the gelding and also the overall performance of DONNIE MAC.  Mr Cernovskis explained that DONNIE MAC previously performed well in races of higher class than tonight’s event, had previously won when able to lead and for these reasons upon securing the lead he was content to maintain the lead.  Mr Cernovskis added that he felt the pressure applied by THE TALK to his outside proved to ultimately detrimental to DONNIE MAC however added that upon the completion of the event DONNIE MAC was exerting an elevated heart rate which he felt was an indication of an underlying issue.  Mr Cernovskis further added that DONNIE MAC had three trials prior to starting in tonight’s event since resuming from a spell where the gelding had trialled well in faster time than tonight's event was conducted in which he felt was further evidence of an underlying issue being present with DONNIE MAC.  A post-race veterinary examination of DONNIE MAC failed to reveal any obvious abnormality.  Connections undertook to report back to Stewards any further findings which may better explain the overall performance of DONNIE MAC. Given the beaten margin DONNIE MAC will now be required to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards on one occasion.

SIX AGAIN – Checked passing the 1200 metres when OUR GEORGE BOSTON broke gait.  Inconvenienced passing the 500 metres when DONNIE MAC commenced to give ground.  Post-race swab sample.

JEKAMIAS NZ – Checked passing the 1200 metres when OUR GEORGE BOSTON broke gait. Inconvenienced passing the 1500 metres when BETTING RANGER shifted in.  

THE EX HORSEIST – Checked passing the 1200 metres when OUR GEORGE BOSTON broke gait.  Inconvenienced passing the 1500 metres when BETTING RANGER shifted in.

KUZMA – Checked passing the 1200 metres when OUR GEORGE BOSTON broke gait.  Inconvenienced passing the 500 metres when DONNIE MAC commenced to give ground. 

BETTING RANGER – Driver Adam Bellach was issued with a reprimand under Rule 163(1)(a)(iii) in that shortly after passing the 1500 metres he permitted BETTING RANGER to shift in resulting in THE EX HORSEIST being inconvenienced and also JEKAMIAS NZ.

 

RACE 5 – AV STONE MARBLE & GRANITE PACE – 1770 metres

PET RANGER – Paced roughly during the middle stages of the score up resulting in ACE OF REASON being inconvenienced. 

FOURONEONE – Pre-race blood sample.

ALPHA STRIDE – Post-race swab sample.

GLENBURNS WATERS – Inconvenienced passing the 1400 metres when BARKWAY ARIAN broke gait.

MOVINTOHELLANDBACK – Inconvenienced passing the 1400 metres when BARKWAY ARIAN broke gait.

BARKWAY ARIAN – Underwent pre and post-race veterinary examinations due to the gelding not having started in the preceding 12 months.  These examinations did not reveal any significant findings.  Broke clear of interference on two occasions (1400 metres and 200 metres) and as a consequence the gelding will be required to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to racing again.

ACE OF REASON – Inconvenienced during the score up when PET RANGER, which it was drawn directly behind, paced roughly.  Checked and broke passing the 1400 metres when BARKWAY ARIAN broke gait.

 

RACE 6 – MGA INSURANCE GROUP PACE – 1770 metres

RAINBOW MOUNTAIN – Pre-race blood sample.  Contacted the sulky of SAILOR MADE passing the 1600 metres when that runner shifted in simultaneously to RAINBOW MOUNTAIN shifting out.

BOUND FOR TROUBLE – Broke during the score up, was out of position at the start and as the filly was having its first race start it will now be placed outside the draw in future mobile start events.

SAILOR MADE – Hung in approaching the 1600 metres making contact with RAINBOW MOUNTAIN.

ASTRAL STRIDE – Post-race swab sample.

ITZ BAD – Out of position at the start and will continue to be placed outside the draw in future mobile start events.
