BETABRO – Declared a late scratching 3:24pm on veterinary advice.

WARRAWEE CRUZIN – Checked and raced roughly passing the 200m when A DUSTY DANCE was shifted wider on the track.

A DUSTY DANCE – Driver Mark Hewitt pleaded guilty to a charge under AHR Rule163(1)(a)(iii) the particulars of the charge being when directing A DUSTY DANCE wider on the track passing the 200m he permitted the mare to shift outwards contributing to WARRAWEE CRUZIN to be checked and raced roughly. In assessing penalty Stewards considered the relevant considerations as outlined within the HRNSW Penalty Guidelines placing particular weight on Mr Hewitt’s guilty plea, his exceptionally good driving record (last offence January 2023) and the low degree of interference involved. Stewards accordingly imposed the minimum penalty available of a seven (7) day suspension of his licence to drive in races which was ordered to commence midnight 18th February 2025.

IM BELIEBER – Hung inwards passing the 700m. Driver Michael Hardy pleaded guilty to a charge under AHR Rule 156(2)(a) for applying the whip to the gelding inside the final 200m with more than a wrist flicking action and with overt force. In assessing penalty stewards were mindful this was Mr Hardy’s second offence within a sixty (60) day or drive period & was fined the sum of $400.

General: A false start was declared at the first attempt when the mobile barrier appeared to lose acceleration resulting in MAYWYNS LA NINA making contact to the barrier arm & race roughly. Prior to the start of the second attempt the mobile barrier was retested and found to be operational.

Stewards intend to review all wagering in regards to this event.

BLAZIN CHIMES – ($1.40 Fav) Pre-race swab. Driver Jett Turnbull was queried into the seemingly improved performance of the mare compared to its most recent starts & the mare being well supported on fixed odds. Mr Turnbull advised BLAZIN CHIMES was having its first start for trainer Nathan Turnbull and had been working well since joining the stable which he was confident of a forward performance. Mr Turnbull added BLAZIN CHIMES had always shown ability particularly when commencing its racing career however its racing manners in being ungenerous & erratic had contributed the mares form appearing to diminish, Mr Turnbull explained the stable had altered some gear in adding removable deafeners and sliding dolly varden blinkers to assist the mare to settle & increased the mare’s training regime where BLAZIN CHIMES has assisted by working within a larger stable in being able to compete in trackwork against other horses which has assisted BLAZIN CHIMES racing manners. Mr Turnbull advised he was unable to explain the support for the mare other than being first up for a new trainer. Post-race swab.
