RACE 1 – SS&A CLUB TRAVLA PACE – 1770 metres

LENNETH – The explanation tendered by Trainer John Thompson for the late declaration of Blake Jones as the driver of the gelding was accepted by Stewards.

BARWEN STORM – The explanation tendered by Trainer Barry Healey for the late declaration of Mikayla Towers as the driver of the gelding was accepted by Stewards.

LOU WILL NZ – Hung in during the score up and was out of position at the start for which a warning was issued. Broke gait free of interference near the 600 metres for which a warning was issued.

UNCHAINMYART – Broke gait near the 1000 metres and leaving the 800 metres. Connections were advised the mare would be required to perform a requalifying trial.

ITS CONFIDENTIAL – Pre-race swab sampled. Driver Ryan Sanderson was fined $50 under Rule 162(1)(h) for not having the colt in position at the start. Inconvenienced near the 1000 metres when UNCHAINMYART broke gait. Post-race swab sampled.

 

RACE 2 – TAB CARNIVAL OF CUPS PACE – 1770 metres

FIFTYSHADESOFHAY NZ – Inconvenienced near the 1400 metres when TYABB WONDER broke gait. Raced roughly rounding the turn approaching the 600 metres.

WELL WELL – Declared a late scratching at 9.24am on veterinary advice.

KAMENDABLE FEELING – Inconvenienced near the 1400 metres when TYABB WONDER broke gait.

TYABB WONDER – Broke gait free of interference while leading near the 1400 metres for which a warning was issued.

MISTER REBEL – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination as the gelding has competed in excess of 200 race starts. No abnormalities were detected. Fractious during the early stages of the score up for which a warning was issued.  

HES A TERROR – Pre-race swab sampled. Inconvenienced near the 1400 metres when TYABB WONDER broke gait. Post-race swab sampled.

 

RACE 3 – SS&A CLUB OF ALBURY LOCKER ROOM PACE – 1770 metres

TOPZAVSKI – Declared a late scratching at 4.20pm due to transport difficulties.

I LIKE WHAT I SEE – Pre-race swab sampled. Post-race swab sampled.

MASTER OF ILLUSON – Tightened for room near the 400 metres between ROLL THE ACES and PIRANI PRINCESS which shifted out.

BURTON – Out of position at the start for which a warning was issued. Hung in near the 400 metres.

PIRANI PRINCESS – Driver Ky Bloomfield was issued a reprimand under Rule 168(1)(a) for careless driving in that near the 400 metres he attempted a run between MIAMI SURF and MASTER OF ILLUSION where there was insufficient room.

ROLL THE ACES – Tightened for room near the 400 metres between MASTER OF ILLUSION and BURTON.

 

RACE 4 – SS&A CLUB OF ALBURY AURUM LOUNGE LADYSHIP PACE – 1770 metres

KEEPCRACKINGJOKES – Declared a late scratching at 4.20pm due to transport difficulties.

MOP NZ – Inconvenienced near the 600 metres when IDEAL MOTH broke gait.

IDEAL MOTH – Pre-race swab sampled. Broke gait free of interference near the 600 metres for which a warning was issued.

TUPELO – Shifted out under pressure in the home straight. Driver Ryan Sanderson was issued a reprimand under Rule 162(1)(www)(ii) in that he made insufficient effort to prevent his runner from shifting out in the home straight.

SCHEMING – Driver Mel Thackeray was fined $200 under Rule 156(2)(a) in that she used her whip in the home straight with more than a wrist flicking motion. Post-race swab sampled.

KATHYS FREE – Hung in and raced roughly near the 600 metres.

 

RACE 5 – SS&A CLUB OF ALBURY SOCIAL DINING & BAR PACE – 1770 metres

RACING WRITER – Pre-race swab sampled.

KNOCK OUT NZ – Broke gait free of interference rounding the first turn for which a warning was issued.

LEAVEMEOUT – Locked wheels with KISSED BY A ROSE rounding the turn leaving the 400 metres and was inconvenienced. Driver Blake Micallef was fined $400 under Rule 156(2)(a) in that he used his whip in the home straight with more than a wrist flicking motion. In assessing penalty Stewards took into consideration that it was Mr Micallef’s second breach of the whip rules within 60 days of his first breach.

MY ULTIMATE SKEETA – Tired over the concluding stages. When questioned regarding the performance, Trainer/Driver Mel Thackeray explained she was disappointed with the geldings run as it had been working well and had travelled well until placed under pressure at the 600 metres. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any obvious abnormalities. Connections were advised the gelding would be required to perform one requalifying trial.

FOREVER YIN – Post-race swab sampled.

FATHER BOB – Driver Billy Neely was fined $200 under Rule 156(2)(a) in that he used his whip in the home straight with more than a wrist flicking motion.

BETA THAN LOVE NZ – Broke gait during the latter stages of the score up and was out of position at the start, for which a warning was issued. Broke gait free of interference approaching the 600 metres for which a warning was issued, broke its off side hopple connecting strap while galloping.

KISSED BY A ROSE – Inconvenienced approaching the 1400 metres when KNOCK OUT NZ broke gait. Locked wheels with LEAVEMEOUT rounding the turn leaving the 400 metres. Driver Cameron Hart was given the opportunity to comment on the below market expectations of the mare, he stated that he believed the mare races best when able to lead and she wasn’t able to so in tonight’ race. Mr Hart added the quick back up from Menangle on the 11 February 2025 may not have suited the mare.

 

RACE 6 – SS&A CLUB OF ALBURY EAT DRINK PLAY PACE – 2170 metres

KIA ORA BEAUTY – Held up for clear running over the concluding stages of the event.

CARLO GAMBINO NZ – Sulky wheel was contacted by PORT AU PRINCE NZ near the 1200 metres when the pace eased resulting in a flat tyre. Held up for clear running over the concluding stages of the event.

JILLIBY FABIO – Tightened for room approaching the 1800 metres when racing to the inside of TICK A LOCH and was checked and raced roughly. Held up for clear running for the majority of the home straight.

TICK A LOCH – Hung in rounding the turn approaching the 1800 metres. Held up for clear running until near the 100 metres.

SHEFFIELD SPARKY NZ – Pre-race swab sampled.

PORT AU PRINCE NZ – Inconvenienced near the 1200 metres when the pace in the event eased and contacted the sulky wheel of CARLO GAMBINO NZ.

CAPTAINS CATCH – Post-race swab sampled.

 

RACE 7 – SS&A CLUB OF ALBURY MURRAY CUP – 2570 metres

DIAMOND ECLIPSE – Pre-race swab sampled.

ABOUTTIME – Contacted the sulky wheel of SWAYZEE leaving the 2000 metres when that runner shifted in. Tired over the concluding stages of the race and was beaten by a considerable margin. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. Connections were advised the gelding would be required to perform a requalifying trial.

OUR VINCENT CAN GOGH NZ – Pre-race warm up.

CYA ART NZ – Pre-race swab sampled. Pre-race warm up. Tightened for room leaving the 400 metres when racing to the inside of SWAYZEE and was checked and raced roughly.

CAPTAIN HAMMERHEAD – Pre-race swab sampled. Hung out at various stages while leading the event. Stewards questioned Driver David Moran regarding the horse racing away from the peg line in the straight after it had obtained the lead. Mr Moran stated the horse hung out against his efforts most notably passing the 1800 metres and passing the 1000 metres. Mr Moran attributed this to the tighter Albury circuit and also the previous known inclination of CAPTAIN HAMMERHEAD to hang out.  A warning was placed on the horse for hanging out. Post-race swab sampled.

SWAYZEE – Pre-race swab sampled. Hung in leaving the 2000 metres resulting in its sulky wheel being contacted by ABOUTTIME. Driver Cameron Hart was issued with a reprimand under Rule 163(1)(a)(iii), in that leaving the 400 metres, when the gelding was hanging in he made insufficient effort to prevent it from shifting in and as a result CYA ART NZ was tightened for room. Hung-in under pressure upon entering the home straight. Driver Cameron Hart reported the gelding hung in when rounding all turns and he felt the gelding failed to handle the tightness of the Albury track. Post-race swab sampled.

 

RACE 8 – SS&A CLUB OF ALBURY THE STUDIO LOUNGE AND BAR PACE – 1770 metres

HAPPY TOO YA – Broke gait after the start. Given the recent record of the gelding, connections were advised HAPPY TOO YA would be placed outside the draw in future mobile start races. Over raced during the middle stages of the event. Broke gait free of interference near the 600 metres for which a warning was issued.

SPIRIT OF SAHARA – Post-race swab sampled.

ALTATUDE – Checked near the 600 metres when HAPPY TOO YA broke gait.
