GENERAL

Trainer Seaton Grima was fined $250 under Rule 159B(1)(a)(ii) for failing to wear a protective vest during trackwork at Hawkesbury on the 13 February 2025.

 

RACE 1 – SKY RACING ACTIVE PACE – 1720 metres

GIMMEFIVEMINUTESMORE NZ – Upon entry to the first turn hung in and broke gait for which a warning was issued.

BOBBY WATERHOUSE NZ – Held up in the early stages of the home straight.

WHISKEY ROYALE – Driver Nathan Xuereb was questioned in regards to his driving tactics and the overall performance of the gelding. After being able to lead WHISKEY ROYALE commenced to give ground over the concluding stages to be beaten 22 metres. Mr Xuereb explained he was able to lead the race without any pressure and the gelding felt to be travelling well within himself however was first up from a small break from the 17 January 2025 and was scheduled to trial at Penrith on Monday night which was washed out,  although disappointed with the performance he felt WHISKEY ROYALE would improve from the run. Stewards noted the comments of Mr Xuereb.

FEAR THE EAGLE – Held up for clear running in the home straight and not fully tested.

RIO DE JANEIRO BLU NZ – Pre-race blood sample.

NOTSOKOOL – Checked entering the first turn as a result of GIMMEFIVEMINUTESMORE NZ breaking gait. Held up in the early stages of the home straight.

TIMELY SOVEREIGN – A pre and post-race veterinary examination was conducted due to the horse having competed in excess of 200 race starts. Both examinations failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities. Post-race swab sample.

 

RACE 2 – PENRITH MAZDA PACE – 2125 metres

TRISTAR FOR CHRIS – Passing the 1900 metres as RAYS REDEMPTION was racing in the running line and was commencing to be restrained, hung in and placed TRISTAR FOR CHRIS in restricted room contacting marker pegs.

RAYS REDEMPTION – Passing the 1900 metres when being restrained hung in and placed TRISTAR FOR CHRIS into restricted room. Post-race swab sample.

ONE MORE ALTA – Pre-race blood sample.

BARA RILEY – Held up for clear running in the home straight and was not fully tested.

ROCKSIE ROCK – At the request of Trainer Billy Muscat the all clear was delayed to allow Mr Muscat to review the films in relation to the concluding stages. after viewing the films, Mr Muscat elected to take no further action and all clear was given on the judge’s numbers of 3 – 8 – 1 – 9.

GREY CADILLAC – Commenced to improve three wide from the 1700 metres before finding a position outside the leader at the 1500 metres.

 

RACE 3 – WEDNESDAY BINGO EYES DOWN 11AM @ CLUB PACEWAY PACE – 1720 metres

ANGUS INDIANA – Caught wide in the early stages before working forward to a position outside the leader at the 1400 metres. Post-race swab sample.

PELIGROSO – Pre-race blood sample.

IDEAL IN DREAMS – Raced roughly after the start for which a warning was issued. Held up for clear running in the home straight and was not fully tested.

SWEDISH MEATBALL – Caught wide early before being restrained to the rear of the field passing the 1300 metres.

 

RACE 4 – TAB VENUE MODE PACE – 1720 metres

ITZMINEONTHELINE – Worked forward to the lead passing the 1350 metres. Had a tendency to over race throughout the event.

AMERICAN HAMMER NZ – Post-race swab sample.

GO OH MICKY NZ – Pre-race blood sample. Trainer Seaton Grima was questioned in relation to the overall performance of the mare, which after being caught wide early worked forward to the position outside the leader approaching the 1150 metres and commenced to  give ground over the concluding stages to be beaten 33 metres. Mr Grima explained he felt the mare had worked too hard early and as it was GO OH MICKY NZ first run back from a spell having not raced since 30 November 2024. Mr Grima also explained in future they may revise the way the mare is driven in future starts. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. A warning was placed on GO OH MICKY NZ for its overall performance.

TOTAL DIVA NZ – Post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in the near fore fetlock. Acting on veterinary advice the mare was stood down pending a veterinary clearance.

 

RACE 5 – OPEN AVENUES PSYCHOLOGY PACE – 1720 metres

TELL ME THIS NZ – Had a tendency to hang out under pressure. Post-race swab sample.

PRINCE POTTER – Held up for clear running in the home straight and not fully tested.

FIFTYSHADES CRESCO – Pre-race blood sample.

IMPULSIVE GEORGE – Caught wide early before working forward to the position outside the leader passing the 1300 metres. Commenced to tire at the 600 metres to be beaten 67.2 metres. Given the record and overall performance of the gelding, IMPULSIVE GEORGE will be required to perform 2 requalifying trials and stood down for a period of 14 days. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be suffering the thumps.

TEAM OF STARZZ - A pre and post-race veterinary examination was conducted due to the horse having competed in excess of 200 race starts. Both examinations failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities. Held up for clear running in the early stages of the home straight.

RACE 6 – FISHO’S RAFFLES FRIDAY 7PM @ CLUB PACEWAY PACE – 1720 metres

BLISSES BEST – Pre-race blood sample.

THE COUNTY SHERIFF – Worked forward to the lead approaching the 1400 metres before surrendering the lead at the 1200 metres to LOCKITINEDDY. Held up in the early stages of the home straight. Hung out when under pressure when improving to a developing run to the inside of LOCKITINEDDY before being placed into restricted room and being checked and raced roughly passing the 50 metres as a result of ART IDEAL shifting in slightly onto LOCKITINEDDY which then shifted down the track.

LOCKITINEDDY – Worked forward to the lead passing the 1200 metres. Inconvenienced passing the 50 metres as a result of ART IDEAL shifting down the track slightly onto LOCKITINEDDY which in turn checked THE COUNTY SHERIFF.

ART IDEAL – Approaching the 50 metres shifted in under pressure onto LOCKITINEDDY which in turn shifted down the track onto THE COUNTY SHERIFF. Stewards were of the opinion Driver Jack Callaghan met his obligations and straightened the gelding straight away and therefore no action was taken. Post-race swab sample.

 

RACE 7 – TME THE MANAGEMENT EDGE RTO PACE – 1720 metres

KINDIE PRINCESS – Hung in during the score up and was slow to begin. Continued to hang in throughout the event contacting marker pegs. Tired over the concluding stages to be beaten 65.1 metres. In view of the mares overall racing manners, KINDIE PRINCESS was stood down to perform one requalifying trial.

MISTER WELLS – Pre-race blood sample.

LOCHINVAR MAGIC – Worked forward to the lead passing the 1400 metres. Post-race swab sample.

ROCK AN ROWA – Inconvenienced after the start as a result of KINDIE PRINCESS being slow to begin.

 

RACE 8 – SYDNEY HOTSHOTS MAR 22 @ CLUB PACEWAY PACE – 1720 metres

KASBAH – Pre-race blood sample. Had a tendency to hang out after the start. Passing the 200 metres became unbalanced and raced roughly for which a warning was issued. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.

SPARKLA – Commenced to improve three wide approaching the 1400 metres before finding the position outside the leader approaching the 1200 metres. Inconvenienced passing the 200 metres as a result of KASBAH racing roughly. Post-race swab sample.

HUNGER STRIKE – Trainer Rickie Alchin was fined $50 under Rule 210 for failing to advise himself as the driver of the filly by the prescribed time.
