CAPTAIN TOM CHILLI – Pre-race blood sample.

THE EYE IN THE SKY – Raced roughly at various stages.

RACE 2 – DOWNLOAD THE TAB APP TODAY PACE – 1609 metres

CAESARS ROCKSTAR – Held up and unable to obtain clear running in the early part of the home straight then had to be shifted out passing the 100 metres to be driven forward.

SAFE JEWELS – Pre-race blood sample.  When questioned in relation to the tactics adopted in the early and middle stages driver E Ison explained, that she intended to lead if she could do so without significant pressure. she said that she resisted an initial challenge from MONTANA NIGHTS rounding the turn after the start albeit at a slightly faster tempo than desirable, however after entering the back straight she was again challenged by BOOKER BAY and due to the speed of the challenge she relented. When questioned further regarding being crossed by AMILLION PROMISES approaching the 900m, she stated that after being crossed by BOOKER BAY, her drive could not comfortably hold the back of that runner and thus could not prevent AMILLION PROMISES from shifting to the marker peg line forward of her. She said that after this the tempo remained solid and SAFE JEWELS was driven without restraint then was placed under pressure passing the 600m, however when BOOKER BAY commenced to weaken approaching the home turn and MAGIC SHOOS did not go forward, she was continually held up and unable to drive to the finish with full vigour. Her explanation was accepted.

NIGHTWATCH STAR – Passed required pre-race veterinary examination.

MONTANA NIGHTS – When questioned in relation to the tactics adopted in the early stages driver A Varga explained that due to its recent disappointing performances when racing in rearward positions it was decided to attempt to race in the lead as this had been a successful tactic in the past when he had driven the gelding. He said that despite his efforts in the early stages he was unable to cross SAFE JEWELS and then when BOOKER BAY and AMILLION PROMISES crossed him and went to the marker peg line he was left at the head of the running line without cover, which was unsuitable resulted in MONTANA NIGHTS over racing for some distance, then when placed under pressure inside the 500m the gelding was unresponsive and weakened which in his opinion was the result of the circumstances in the first half of the race.

BEE SEVENTEEN – Post-race swab sample.

RACE 3 – WESTS ENTERTAINMENT GROUP PACE – 1609 metres

DOUGS RULES – Post-race swab sample.

SHIRALEE – When questioned in relation to the performance, driver L Sutton explained that after being unable to find a position with cover in the early stages, he elected to restrain to the rear of the field where the mare travelled relatively well.  He said that he attempted to improve entering the back straight on the final occasion and was obliged to drive with vigour passing the 500 metres.  He said that after gaining a moderate response and obtaining clear running SHIRALEE ran to the finish moderately.

MAC STUBBORN – Pre-race blood sample.  A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormality.

RACE 4 – CARPET ONE FLOOR AND HOME TAMWORTH PACE – 1609 metres

THREE PARTS GREY – Broke stride and galloped after contacting the back of the sulky of TINTENBAR when the driver G Young was attempting to activate gear. Considering all the circumstances including the reduction of tempo in the running line at that stage and G Young’s relative inexperience, she was reprimanded under AR 168(1)(a).

PHAR LUME NZ – raced roughly when being shifted wider passing the 1100 metres when attempting to avoid THREE PARTS GREY

BRING YOUR BEST – Pre-race blood sample.  Raced in restricted room for a short distance inside the 100 metres.

YOU CANNOT HIDE – Hampered, raced roughly and had to be shifted wider passing the 1100 metres when attempting to avoid THREE PARTS GREY which had galloped.

RACE 5 – SIXT CAR & TRUCK RENTAL TAMWORTH PACE – 1609 metres

TINTINS TREASURE – Pre-race blood sample.  When questioned in relation to the performance driver J Coney explained that after establishing the lead after the start which had been the intention, she was forced to drive with more urgency than intended to maintain that position passing the 1300m when challenged by THOMAS ROYAL. She said that after this TINTINS TREASURE did not travel comfortably and when challenged again passing the 600m was unresponsive and weakened from that point. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormality.  Connections were advised that a warning for poor performance would be placed on the gelding’s racing record.

IMLIKA – Post-race swab sample.

ALLSOPP – Fractious during the score up.  Connections were advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s racing record.

RACE 6 – GARRARDS HORSE AND HOUND TRAINERS ENCOURAGMENT PACE – 1980 metres

UNCLE GREGORY – Post-race swab sample.

LOOKAT MEE – When questioned in relation to the performance, driver J Coney explained that after obtaining a forward position in the early stages the mare pulled very hard, was difficult to restrain and raced fiercely for some distance.  She said that when after being crossed inside the 1200 metres LOOKAT MEE then became unresponsive and had to be continually urged to maintain its position.  She said that she was obliged to place the mare under full pressure passing the 600 metres, however it weakened from that point and was disappointing in its finishing efforts.  A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormality.

TASMANS DELIGHT – Driver A Varga was fined $200 under AR 156(2)(a) for applying the whip in a manner that exceeded a wrist only flicking motion.

RACE 7 – FARRER SECURITY SERVICES PACE – 1609 metres

ZOEMAGIC – Passed required pre-race veterinary examination.

REDS GOOD TO GO – When questioned in relation to the tactics adopted in the early stages driver C McElhinney explained, that despite a relatively favourable draw she elected to drive quietly after the start as in her opinion REDS GOOD TO GO did not have sufficient speed to cross runners inside and obtain the lead.  She said that during the middle stages she raced with cover in the running line and the gelding travelled relatively well, however was under pressure passing the 500 metres and with constant pressure being applied, the gelding ran to the finish satisfactorily.

SKY DIAMOND NZ – Passed required pre-race veterinary examination.

REDFOX RAIDER – Pre-race blood sample.

TISBURY ROCKS NZ – Held up inside the 200 metres and went to the finish without being tested.

PEPPA BLISS – Post-race swab sample.

RACE 8 – TAMWORTH VET HOSPITAL PACE – 1980 metres

ROSE NOIRE NZ – Pre-race blood sample.  When questioned in relation to the performance trainer/driver Miss G Panella explained that the mare travelled relatively well with cover in the running line in the early and middle stages when the tempo was moderate, however when attempting to improve approaching the 600m she was forced wider on the track and the speed of the race for this section increased significantly. She said that due to the mare’s moderate response she was obliged to continue her efforts wide on the track and covered excessive ground. She added that it was her intention to ease the mare’s preparation in an attempt to freshen it. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare displayed a slow recovery rate.

MAJOR MICKEY – Post-race swab sample.

RACE 9 – TAMWORTH RADIO CABS PACE – 1609 metres

CERTAINLYCALLITIN – Hung out throughout and was difficult to drive, then approaching the 400 metres began to weaken and shift wider on the track despite the efforts of its driver.  Connections were advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s racing record.

CARMELITE NZ – Post-race swab sample.

ESCALERA NZ – Pre-race blood sample.  Had to be steadied approaching the home straight on the first occasion when racing tight on the inside of JOHNSON STEP NZ, which after hanging out rounding the turn near the 1000 metres shifted in marginally when not quite clear.

SUPERBON – Had to be checked and broke stride approaching the home turn when attempting to avoid the weakening CERTAINLYCALLITIN.
