The following driver changes were approved due to Driver Abbey Sanderson being delayed enroute to the course due to transport issues.
Race 2 – OWEN THE SAINTS – Bruce Harpley
Race 3 – FULLOFFIGHT NZ – Shane Hallcroft
RACE 1 – THE TAB APP PACE – 2270 metres
THE CLOCK WINDER – Hung in on the final turn.
NEEDBEE – Post-race swab sample.
BRAEBEACH NZ – Pre-race blood sample. Caught wide in the early stages before working forward to a position in the running line at the 1800 metres. Improved three wide from the 1700 metres to the position outside the leader at the 1450 metres. Hung in on the final turn.
BURTON – Held up for clear running over the concluding stages and was not fully tested.
RACE 2 – YIRRIBEE STUD WAGGA CUP ON 19TH APRIL PACE – 1740 metres
OWEN THE SAINTS – Pre-race blood sample. Raced roughly, hung out in the score up and was out of position at the start. Given the recent record of the gelding, it will now be excluded from the mobile barrier draw. Hung out and raced erratically and was issued its last chance to race truly.
CATCHAFIRE NZ – Post-race swab sample.
OZZIE CORKA – Inconvenienced in the score up as a result of ROYLE BLOOD hanging out and being out of position at the start. Given OZZIE CORKA finished in 4th place no further consideration was given to declaring the gelding a non-runner. Raced roughly after the start when shifting into a running line position.
RACE 3 – RIVERINA SIGNMAKERS PACE – 2270 metres
ROYLE BLOOD - Pre-race blood sample. Approaching the 250 metres broke under pressure for which a warning was issued.
BEER MONEY – Commenced to improve three wide from the 1300 metres before finding the position outside the leader at the 1050 metres.
SECRET LINE – Caught wide early before finding the position outside the leader at the 1800 metres. Tired over the concluding stages to be beaten 82.5 metres. Given the gelding’s overall individual mile rate of 2:00.4 a warning was issued. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed a poor recovery.
CAPTAIN CHEDDAR – Declared a late scratching at 12.12pm due to a mechanical breakdown.
RENROW BOY – Post-race swab sample.
ZEUSS – Declared a late scratching at 9.45am acting on veterinary advice.
RACE 4 – STROUD HOMES LADYSHIP PACE – 2270 metres
SHEER VITALITY - Pre-race blood sample. Approaching the 1900 became unbalanced and broke gait. Hung out and raced erratically throughout. Given it was the filly’s third race start it will be required to trial on one occasion. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.
IDEAL CRUISER - Inconvenienced passing the 1900 metres as a result of SHEER VITALITY breaking gait.
SAVOY BALLROOM – Broke after the start and will now be excluded from the mobile barrier draw.
TWO MORE DIAMONDS NZ – Worked forward to the lead approaching the 1850 metres.
MARDIBRINGSAPARTY – Worked forward to the lead passing the 1800 metres.
WHILEMINA RITA – Worked forward to the lead approaching the 1600 metres. Post-race swab sample.
TUPELO - Declared a late scratching at 2.21pm due to a mechanical breakdown.
RACE 5 – SOUTHWEST STOCKFEEDS PACE – 1740 metres
LEAVEMEOUT – Post-race swab sample.
SMOKIN POCKET – Caught wide early before working forward to the position outside the lead passing the 1300 metres.
CAPTAIN OF SPEED - Pre-race blood sample.
LUVTOO – Stewards questioned Driver Bruce Harpley in regards to the tactics he adopted in the home straight in particular his decision not to utilise the sprint lane over the final 100 metres resulting in LUVTOO being held up for clear running and not being fully tested. Mr Harpley stated that passing the 300 meters while racing 4 back on the marker pegs he attempted to move wider on the track, however there didn’t appear to be a run available and he elected to remain on the marker pegs and look for a run to the inside. Upon entry to the home straight Mr Harpley felt FE FE ON FIRE which was racing behind the leader had shifted in to the sprint lane and ROCK THE NATION NZ which racing 3 back on the marker pegs moved wider on the track, allowing LUVTOO to improve to the back of FE FE ON FIRE around the 100 metres at which time Mr Harpley wasn’t aware that a run had became available to the inside of that runner. Stewards felt that Mr Harpley had erred in his judgement but not culpable to the degree to warrant any further action to be taken, given the beaten margin of 4.7 metres to the next finishing position Stewards couldn’t be comfortable satisfied that his decision had affected the overall placings.
ROCK THE NATION NZ – It was revealed post-race the gelding had broken the number 2 carrying strap.
RACE 6 – STEEL SUPPLIES PACE – 2270 metres
ITS CONFIDENTIAL – Due to a float breakdown enroute to the course underwent a pre-race veterinary examination for precautionary reasons and was passed fit to take its place in the field. Worked forward to the lead passing the 1800 metres. Post-race swab sample.
LIEUTENANT ARDEN NZ – Hung in rounding the final turn. At the request of connections was reincluded into the mobile draw.
THALASSOPHOBIA - Pre-race blood sample.
RACE 7 – TASCO PACE – 1740 metres
SCHEMING – Post-race swab sample.
CORTEZ - Pre-race blood sample. Worked forward to the lead passing the 1400 metres.
WIND SOCK – Caught wide early before working forward to the position outside the leader at the 1000 metres. Commenced to give ground from the 300 metres to be beaten 15.2 metres.
MY BULA BUS – Checked from the 300 metres when held up behind CORTEZ before gaining clear running approaching the 100 metres.
CLYMENUS NZ – Pre-race blood sample.
