RACE 1 – TAB VENUE MODE PACE – 1720 metres
TOP THE ACE – Underwent a pre and post-race veterinary examination as per HRNSW animal welfare guidelines. No abnormalities were detected. Leaving the 300 metres was placed in restricted room and contacted marker pegs when GREY CADILLAC laid in.
FIFTYSHADES CRESCO – Leaving the 1600 metres paced roughly, broke gait and was retired from the event. It was established that prior to FIFTYSHADES CRESCO becoming intractable the near side front hopple loop detached from the carrying strap. An inspection revealed the gear to be of almost new condition. The circumstances were noted.
GREY CADILLAC – Caught wide in the early stages before working forward to the position outside the leader. Racing between the 300 metres and the 200 metres was inclined to hang out under pressure.
DILETTO – Post-race swab sample.

SPITFIRE – Raced 3 wide in the early stages before working forward to the position outside the leader near the 1200 metres. Post-race swab sample.
RACE 3 – CAPITAL CORPORATION PACE – 1720 metres
PLAYFUL MISS – Leaving the 300 metres was placed in restricted room and contacted marker pegs. Tired significantly over the concluding stages to be beaten 39 metres. When questioned, Driver W Rixon explained the mare was disappointing and, in his opinion, may have been too close to the speed given the sectionals recorded in the early and middle stages of the event. He added that Trainer L Jurd indicated post-race he would look to freshen PLAYFUL MISS up prior to its next start. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. W Rixon’s explanation was noted.
GOODTIME BRAVO – Driver T Osmond pleaded guilty to a charge under Rule 156(2)(a) in that she applied her whip to GOODTIME BRAVO in more than a wrist only flicking motion on multiple occasions over the final 200 metres. T Osmond was fined $200. Post-race swab sample.
CAPITALEE – Pre-race blood sample. Leaving the 500 metres had to be steadied and was hampered behind PLAYFUL MISS which was weakening.
LUKE JOHN NZ – Raced three wide in the early stages before working forward to the position outside the leader near the 1400 metres. Leaving the 300 metres shifted in when not quite clear of DESIDERIO. Driver S Grima was advised to exercise greater care when shifting ground in similar circumstances.
RACE 4 – TOOHEYS LADYSHIP PACE – 1720 metres
STELLINA – Unable to secure clear running at any stage of the home straight and was not fully tested.
HARLEEQUIN – Post-race swab sample.
CYCLONE BELLA NZ – Raced in the position outside the leader and over raced during the middle stages when attempting to restrain to take cover from CHEVRON FLIES NZ which was racing to its outside.
CHEVRON FLIES NZ – Raced wide throughout and weakened over the concluding stages. Trainer/Driver S Grima explained pre-race that he expected that CYCLONE BELLA NZ would be able to cross to the lead and it may be able to progress forward on CHEVRON FLIES NZ and obtain the lead from that runner. He said after the start there was more gate speed displayed by the runners on his inside than expected. Therefore, he immediately steadied his runner and waited for the tempo to come out of the event before progressing forward. S Grima said that when improving to the outside of CYCLONE BELLA NZ near the 900 metres it became evident that that runner was unable to be restrained and subsequently desisted from his challenge from that position and looked to steady CHEVRON FLIES NZ three wide. S Grima’s explanation was noted. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities.
SPARKLA – Unable to secure clear running at any stage in the home straight and was not fully tested.
CHARLIES ACE NZ – Driver R Morris pleaded guilty to a charge under Rule 156(2)(a) for applying his whip to CHARLIES ACE NZ in more than a wrist only flicking motion on multiple occasions between the 150 metres and the 50 metres. R Morris was fined $200.

RACE 6 – LOVEDALE FARM PACE – 2125 metres
WEONA SIR VIVOR – Driver R Morris explained that the gelding requires momentum and after being disappointed for a run in the early stage of the home straight his runner failed to respond to his driving and failed to run on over the concluding stages. R Morris’s explanation was noted.
DARK TERROR – Unable to secure clear running at any stage in the home straight and was not fully tested.

RACE 7 – RENSHAW CUP (GROUP 3) – 2525 metres
CHEVRON ART NZ – Entering the first turn hung out slightly and contacted the sulky of BETTERZIPPIT NZ. Subsequently CHEVRON ART NZ broke gait. The gelding was inclined to hang out at various stages of the event. A warning was issued.
PITCH PERFECT NZ – Pre-race blood sample.
CYA ART NZ – Pos-race swab sample.
BETTERZIPPIT NZ - Underwent a pre and post-race veterinary examination as per HRNSW animal welfare guidelines due to the gelding having not started since the 2 March 2024. No abnormalities were detected. Commenced to weaken leaving the 900 metres and tired significantly over the concluding stages to beaten 165 metres. Driver W Rixon explained that he was instructed to drive the gelding forward at the start in an endeavour to cross to the lead. He added that he believed ARDENS ACE NZ would initially lead and would look for cover. W Rixon said that after finding the position outside the leader BETTERZIPPIT NZ had a tendency to hang in on the bends, race roughly and was unable to sustain a challenge for the lead. He said he expected that either SPEAK THE TRUTH or CAPTAIN HAMMERHEAD would improve in the middle stages to give his runner cover. However when this did not occur, BETTERZIPPIT NZ was forced to race without cover. W Rixon’s explanation was noted. BETTERZIPPIT NZ was stood down from racing until it can complete one satisfactory official trial for what was deemed to be an unsatisfactory performance.
CAPTAIN HAMMERHEAD – Pre-race blood sample. Pre-race urine sample.
SWAYZEE - Pre-race blood sample. Pre-race urine sample. Post-race swab sample.

J Gallagher explained he slipped in his sulky seat and became unbalanced subsequently his left foot came away from the sulky rest on multiple occasions and right foot dropped on one occasion. He added that this also caused him to employ his whip in a more extravagant and vigorous manner. Driver J Gallagher pleaded guilty to a charge under Rule 156(2)(a) in that he applied his whip in more than a wrist only flicking motion on multiple occasions over the concluding stages. J Gallagher was fined the sum of $200. J Gallagher pleaded guilty to a charge under Rule 170(1)(a) in that he failed to keep his feet in the sulky rest over the final 150 metres.
