Maitland trials 27/10/2024 - Heat one
Mr Nathen Dawson pleaded guilty to a charge under Rule 157(1)&(2) in that he did drive the horse Nelly Bigtime in heat 1 at the Maitland Qualifying trials venue, when he was not qualified or eligible to do so as he was not the holder of a current HRNSW license to drive harness horses.
Mr Dawson was fined the sum of $500. When considering penalty stewards took into account his plea of guilt, this was a first offence of this nature under the rules. And previous penalties issued.
Mr Dawson was advised of his appeal rights.
RACE 1 – RIPPIT GOLF – WARATAH HEAT – 1609 metres
MISTER POVERTY – Pre-race sample was taken.
DOUBLE SAID – Had a tendency to race roughly when the field negotiated the first turn. Had a tendency to hang out particularly whilst under pressure prior to entering the home straight for the run to the finish.
SINBINNED – Post-race sample was taken.
SHADOW ECLIPSE – Examined pre and post-race by the veterinarian with no abnormalities reported.
RACE 2 – NORRIS HAIR & BEAUTY PACE – 2030 metres
NIFTY STUDLEIGH – Examined pre and post-race by the veterinarian with no abnormalities reported.
LACHIES IDEAL – Had a tendency to over race in the early and middle stages of the event. When questioned regarding the performance driver M Harding explained that it was first up from a short break and had a tendency to over race in the early and middle stages of the event however was somewhat disappointed in his closing efforts. Stewards noted his comments.
WATSLUVGOTTADO – Pre-race sample was taken. Fractious in the early stages of the score up. A warning was issued.
STEALTH BOMBA NZ – Had a tendency to over race in the early and middle stages of the event before making a three wide move to the position in the lead. Post-race sample was taken.
RACE 3 – GARRARDS HORSE AND HOUND PACE – 2030 metres
IDEAL IN DREAMS – Post-race sample was taken.
JOHN MCLEAN NZ – Pre-race sample was taken.
MAJOR MICKEY – When questioned regarding the tactics adopted and the overall performance driver B Hughes explained that after finding a rearward position in the early stages of the event found the tempo to be quite slow and elected to move three wide to find the position outside of the leader. He further added that when progressing forward the tempo in the event was still slow in his opinion and made a small challenge for the lead which was unsuccessful. From that point failed to travel genuine and was disappointing over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Connections were advised a warning would be issued against the performance.
BARNSTORMER NZ – Held up for clear running over the concluding stages and not fully tested.
RACE 4 – WRS – SUPPORTING HARNESS RACING PACE – 1609 metres
RYANS GANGSTER – Pre-race sample was taken. Post-race sample was taken.
RACE 5 – CENTURIONS SOCIAL CLUB PACE – 1609 metres
BEANCOUNTER – Had a tendency to over race in the early and middle stages of the event.
DANCE WITH CARMER – Raced roughly when negotiating the first and broke stride prior to entering the home straight on the first occasion. Connections were advised it will be stood down until it can requalify on one occasion. A post-race veterinary examination revealed it to be somewhat lame in the near side hind leg. Acting on veterinary advise was stood down until a certificate of fitness is produced.
MY STELLA ROSE – Out of position as the start was affected. No action was taken.
JOHNSON STEP NZ – Pre-race sample was taken. Had a tendency to shift ground whilst under pressure over the concluding stages. Driver D Murphy was cautioned in relation to allowing his runner to shift up the track. Post-race sample was taken.
PEPPA BLISS – Out of position as the start was affected. No action was taken.
RACE 6 – TOOHEYS PACE – 1609 metres
SECRET WISH – Held up for clear running over the concluding stages and not fully tested.
YOGI – Had a tendency to over race in the early and middle stages of the event.
IRE OF THE DRAGON – Held up for clear running over the concluding stages and not fully tested.
BODYLINE – Pre-race sample was taken. Had a tendency to pull hard during the middle and latter stages of the score up and continued to over race in the early and middle stages of the event. Post-race sample was taken.
RACE 7 – MATES4HARNESS PACE – 1609 metres
MAJOR DOODLE – Pre-race sample was taken.
COOINDALAI – Driver A Delosa was fined the sum of $50 under rule 162(1)(h) for failing come up into position prior to the start being affected.
WEREGOINGTOGETCHA – Held up for clear running in the early stages of the run to the finish.
WALTER WARLOCK – Post-race sample was taken.
RACE 8 – SKY RACING ACTIVE HRNSW GUARANTEED TWO YEAR OLD PACE – 1609 metres
MIDNIGHT HAZE – Somewhat fractious in the early stages of the score. A warning was issued.
CONCILIATE – Pre-race sample was taken. Post-race sample was taken.
SEASIDE RIVER – Broke its number two carrying strap on the near side during the event.
RACE 9 – THE TAB APP PACE – 1609 metres
SLINGSHOT – Post-race sample was taken.
ROCKNROLL TONY – Had a tendency to over race in the early and middle stages of the event.
KISSMELVIS – Held up for clear running in the early stages of the run to the finish.
UNCLE GREGORY – Pre-race sample was taken.
